Mid-point Rally
The 40 Days for Life Ames mid-point rally will be on Monday March 23 at 7pm. We are planning this event to last between 30 and 45 minutes. Please gather at the Lighthouse at 112 S. Sheldon Ave behind the Lincoln Way Taco Bell). From there we will process down to the Planned Parenthood in song and have some remarks from Pastor Lee Abuhl of the Lighthouse. Team leaders and vigil participants will then share experiences and stories to inspire and encourage all who are partiicpating in 40 DFL. We will return to the Lighthouse for closing and for a sharing of a few snacks. A reminder to bring a flashlight or two for the procession. All are welcome!
Kickoff Rally
On Tuesday Feb. 24 at 8pm at the The Lighthouse, the campus ministry headquarters of Campus Baptist church, around 70 participants attended the Kickoff Rally for the first 40 Days for Life in Ames. It was a moving evening with special guest Roxie Richard of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign sharing her abortion story. Music and song sheets were used for the flashlight procession to the vigil locaiton and Father Dennis Miller of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church shared some remarks while everyone stood along the sidewalks next to the Planned Parenthood. After returning to the Lightouse, the evening convened with the local 40 DFL campaign leader Dan Rajewski giving calls to action, answering any questions and getting people signed up for vigil hours as they enjoyed a variety of sweets and beverages.

Casting the Vision meeting
On Monday Jan. 26 at 7pm, a group of 27 people came to the Ames public library to learn about 40 Days for Life in Ames. Attendees were from Ames as well as from many neighboring communities such as Boone, Colo, Maxwell, Nevada, and Ogden. The team leaders did a fantastic job of presenting an atmosphere of hope for why 40 DFL is proceeding here in Ames. After the meeting, several participants signed up to serve as church contacts in their communities and they were given packets to help them with that outreach. The contacts will seek to sign up their church congregation to cover one day of the 12 hours or half a day of that period for the same day of the week. At least 168 vigil participants are needed so that two people will be giving peaceful witness every hour for 12 hours each of the seven days. Many people also signed up for hours for the prayer vigil and in other ways of helping the campaign: events, outreach, communications, and prayer requests. Assitstance is still very much appreciated on all the 40 DFL components. If there is a time, talent, or treasure you are interested in providing to this effort please let the leadership team know! Thank you for your help and your prayers.
