LOCAL NEWS

Thank you for joining us today in this pro-life effort. We are here to witness to the humanity of the preborn child, to offer real and tangible help to the mothers and fathers going into the abortion clinic and to pray that they choose life. There are two main pro-life roles here at the abortuary including the SIDEWALK COUNSELOR and the PRAYER INTERCESSOR/WARRIOR. Most pro-lifers will be a prayerful presence here. Sidewalk counselors are specially trained in techniques grounded in psychological studies on why and how women choose life at the abortion clinic. It is very important that you respect the role of the sidewalk counselor.
At this abortuary, our sidewalk counselors are usually women and we ideally only have 2-3 counselors at a time. Only one sidewalk counselor usually speaks at a time. We do not shout negative or judgmental things at the couples going in. We do not engage in religious or philosophical debates with them. If they were thinking about God or ethics, they wouldn’t be here. We need to appeal to them through their selfishness. Abortion will hurt them. There are risks to abortion. Our job is to get them away from the abortion center to a crisis pregnancy center. The counselors have information on local resources. These trained counselors focus on sharing the medical and psychological risks of abortion with the women entering the clinic and focus on providing help to the woman whether it is medical, financial or psycho-social.
Because our sidewalk counselors only have a minute or two to communicate with the couples entering the abortuary, we ask that prayer warriors focus on praying for the women going in. We ask that prayer warriors not shout out or interrupt the sidewalk counselors. We ask that any pro-life signs be kept on the opposite side of the street. We are trying to hand-out information and be compliant with trespassing laws, so we ask that prayer warriors stay on the opposite side of the street. We know from women who have changed their minds and also from post-abortive women how important and influential it is for them to see compassionate people praying for them outside the clinic before and after their abortions.
