40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life effort that consists of:

  • 40 days of prayer and fasting
  • 40 days of peaceful vigil
  • 40 days of community outreach

We are praying that, with God's help, this groundbreaking effort will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in Austin—and throughout America.

Austin is excited to unite with 211 other cities across the the fall 40 Days for Life campaign from September 23 - November 1. After Austin's first 40 Days for Life phenomenally successful campaign this past spring, Austin is gearing up for a bigger and better prayer vigil this fall.

This fall 40 Days for Life Austin will maintain a prayer vigil at TWO abortion facility locations. We are pulling out all the stops to allow God to work through us like never before to end abortion.

The TWO prayer vigil locations for 40 Days for Life Austin Fall 2009 are:
   International Healthcare Solutions 
      (9805 Anderson Mill Rd, Northwest Austin)
   Austin Women's Health 
      (1902 S I-35, South Central Austin)

Take a stand for life

While all aspects of 40 Days for Life are crucial in our effort to end abortion, the most visible component is the peaceful prayer vigil outside the local abortion facilities. 

Here are some of the successes 40 Days for Life has been blessed with in the Austin community:

  * 500+ people participated in 40 Days for Life Spring 2009
  * Since day 40 of the spring campaign, seven women have
    chosen life for children they were going to abort
  * 50 people were trained as Sidewalk Counselors to 
    lovingly offer women alternatives to abortion as they 
    entered the abortion facility
  * 3 post-abortive women finally started to seek healing from 
    an abortion in their past
  * Four different news sources featured the Austin 40 Days 
    for Life prayer vigil in their headlines
  * Hearts were touched and lives were saved

Across the country and world, 40 Days for Life has seen blessings as well:

  * More than 1,560 women who have chosen life for children 
    they intended to abort 
  * Countless men and women with abortions in their past 
    finally started to seek healing 
  * 18 workers in the abortion industry have questioned and 
    left their jobs
  * More than 100,000 Christians have brought their faith to 
    the streets, and thousands upon thousands of hearts have 
    been changed.
  * 240 cities in 50 states have participated, and 6 other 
    countires have participated too
  * 3 abortion facilities shut down for good

On Monday, March 16 more than 100 faithful Christians gathered in front of the abortion clinic for our candelit Halfway Rally. 

We heard moving words from the Bishop of Austin Gregory Aymond. We prayed. We sang. We let Christ's light shine forth.

Ambulances at Abortion Facility

Two Ambulances Spoted at Local Abortion Facility this June



This June, a tragic event happened at Whole Woman's Health (8401 N I-35). One of the women who had gone to the abortion facility had to be transported to the hospital. Fortunately, pro-life volunteers were able to capture images of the two ambulances loading the young woman into the vehicle so more people could know this one fact: the abortion facility is not a safe place for women.

Halfway Event

The first half of this fall 40 Days for Life has been completed! 

The Holy Spirit moved through a post-abortive woman's testimony, a candle-lit prayer vigil and praise and worship music.

We have seen the hand of God touching and blessing our efforts so abundantly these first 20 days.


 - More than 250 people have committed to a weekly 
hour to maintain the vigil,
 - Over 100 additional people have stopped by 
to pray at the vigil
 - Fourteen new Sidewalk Counselors have been trained 
to lovingly reach out to abortion-bound women
 - Hundreds upon hundreds of Christians across the 
Austin area are praying and fasting for an end to abortion
 - Five local media outlets have featured 40 Days for Life Austin
 
And most significantly…
One woman during these first 20 days 
left the abortion facility and chose life 
for her child instead of abortion!
