I just came back from the closing rally, silent candle-light march to St. Patrick's Basilica, Mass and the closing reception for Ottawa, Ontario, Canada's 40 Days for Life vigil. It was one of the most special events I have been a part of in this city.

It is cold here tonight (0 degrees C), and dark at 6PM but the wind died down as the speakers finished outside the abortion clinic. Then our Archbishop, Terrance Prendergast, accompanied by a Knights of Columbus Guard of Honor (in full regalia), led 444 of us in our silent, prayer-filled march to the Basilica. Protestants and catholics alike filed into the church in silence and participated in one of the most special Masses I have attended. There was a feeling in the air that was palpable; that of peace and hope yet mingled with sorrow for the little ones that we have lost.

When they announced how many abortions there have been in Ottawa since the opening of that clinic, I realized that those babies would have filled the church, something that they will never be able to do. Therefore, to my mind, the fact that this year's Campaign ended on All Souls' feast day was only fitting.

I just want to thank all of the organizers of this effort, on all sides of the border. May God bless you and your families for your work. We know that we have not seen all of the benefits yet!

Thank you and God bless you for the great work you all have done to make the 40 Days For Life campaign. I have been praying with you, everyday.
In my parish we have a Celebrate Life commitee that goes every first friday of each month to pray outside of a Planned Parenthood clinic.
As Anne says, let's make it 365 Days for Life, specially if the candidate "pro-choice" and ready to sign the Right To Choice Act, wins.
God bless you and God bless America.

If someone told me last year that I would have been praying the rosary outside an abortion mill I would have said, "no way - that's not for me." However, because of the 40 Days For Life Campaign that's exactly what I have been doing for the past few weeks and I do not intend to stop until abortion is ended. Praying at a place where such killing and pain takes place day after day is very revealing. As a Catholic I've always believed that abortion is a grave sin, however, I don't think I have ever experience the, what shall I call it, the absolute awfullness of it before. It is praying before a slaughterhouse but one that slaughters human children instead of cattle and terribly injures the parents and familes of these poor children. God help us all for what we have done and what we continue to let happen.

Keep our hearts focused on heaven, and diligent in the labors of earth. As we struggle against the culture of death, root our souls in the assurance of victory. We pray through Christ our Lord, Amen.
