Hannity replay, abortion worker quits

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I wasn’t planning to make another blog post until after New Year’s Day, but two things changed that…

  1. Many of you asked if we had a recording from my appearance on last Friday’s Sean Hannity show. The short answer is YES!
  2. We just got some wonderful news from the 40 Days for Life team in Pensacola, Florida, that I knew you’d be excited to hear about as we go into the new year.

First things first…

You can listen to the entire 11-minute segment about 40 Days for Life from the Sean Hannity show here:

Listen to the Audio Online (click arrow-shaped “Play” button to start audio):

Download MP3 (click to play, right-click to save to your computer):

http://www.40daysforlife.com/blog/audio/hannity.mp3

After you listen, please leave a quick comment at the bottom of this page and let me know your thoughts.

Learn more about the radio show at: http://www.hannity.com

Guest host Scott Hennen did a great job. We couldn’t have asked for a more enthusiastic endorsement of 40 Days for Life!

During the radio show I discussed the abortion industry’s “insider” strategy memo which provides marching orders for Obama during his first 100 days in office — including requests that he provide the failing abortion industry with a $4.6 BILLION taxpayer funded bailout.

You can access that report — and leave your comments for the Obama transition team — at:

http://tinyurl.com/6horgl

Now the good news from Florida…

Ernie and Mary Beth Cyr, coordinators of the Pensacola 40 Days for Life campaign, just sent out the following message:

“Thank you to all for your prayers for those working in the abortion industry. We have just received word from a relative of a worker at the 9th Avenue abortion clinic (where 40 Days for Life was held this fall) that she has quit the abortion industry! Praise God!

Please keep this woman in your prayers that she will find God’s merciful forgiveness in this new year of 2009.

The woman faces a possible gap in employment, and if needed we will be taking up a collection to help her. We want her to feel embraced by the pro-life community in Pensacola and let her know that her choice FOR LIFE is supported by many she does not know, but who have been unceasingly praying for her conversion to LIFE.”

What a blessing!

This goes to show how the prayers and faithfulness of God’s people continue to have a powerful impact long after a 40 Days for Life campaign is over.

And it also demonstrates the compassion our movement has for everyone affected by the tragedy of abortion — not only unborn babies.

With that news in mind, let’s look forward to the great things God has in store for 2009!

Yours for Life,

David Bereit
National Campaign Director
40 Days for Life

P.S.- After I mentioned in a previous message that we begin accepting applications for the spring 40 Days for Life on January 6, a number of people asked for more information on what is involved in conducting a local campaign. We’ve prepared a comprehensive report to help answer that question.

If you are even thinking about holding a 40 Days for Life in your town from February 25 – April 5, you can download the “40 Days for Life 2009 Campaign Overview Report” (PDF document) at:

Hannity show to feature 40 Days for Life!

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Three quick things:

  1. 40 Days for Life on Hannity radio show Friday
  2. Final results from “HOPE” teleconference
  3. Wishing you a blessed Christmas!

Let’s dive in…

1.) 40 DAYS FOR LIFE ON HANNITY RADIO SHOW FRIDAY

I just got asked to be a guest on the Sean Hannity radio show this Friday, December 26, to talk about the sweeping impact of 40 Days for Life!

In addition to addressing the life-saving results of 40 Days for Life, I’ve also been asked to cover:

  • Obama’s promise to sign FOCA (the “Freedom of Choice Act”) and what threats that measure poses
  • The strategy memo sent by the abortion industry to the Obama transition team which calls for radical expansion of the abortion agenda and $4.6 BILLION in additional taxpayer funding
  • What local people can do — where they live — to save lives and counter the abortion agenda
  • The plans for 40 Days for Life campaigns in 2009

This will be the single largest audience we have ever been able to reach with the 40 Days for Life message.

Two things:

  1. I would appreciate your prayers that God would give me the right words to say.
  2. If you want to listen in, the show will be on from 3 – 6 PM Eastern time (Noon – 3 PM Pacific). I don’t yet know which hour will cover 40 Days for Life, but if I find out, I’ll let you know. To find a radio station near you that airs the show, simply visit: http://www.hannity.com and enter your zip code in the form on the top right of the page.

This could really help to expand the involvement in 40 Days for Life during 2009!

2.) FINAL RESULTS FROM “HOPE” TELECONFERENCE

You are amazing!!

On Tuesday, December 9th’s “HOPE” teleconference, we announced that four anonymous donors had made a matching challenge that would double all gifts made to 40 Days for Life within 72 hours of the call — up to $48,200.

We had hoped to double that, but instead, you more than TRIPLED the match amount!

You helped to contribute an additional $110,534 which brought the grand total to…

$158,734!!

All this happened right before Christmas while the economy is taking a beating.

Clearly God wants this work to expand in 2009!

We are now rapidly moving forward with the plans for two 40 Days for Life campaigns next year and the new initiative that will educate, equip, and empower pro-lifers in cities across America.

(If you didn’t have a chance to contribute but wish to make a gift to 40 Days for Life before year-end, just visit: http://www.40daysforlife.com/donate.cfm )

Now, I have to share this one amusing item…

During this fall’s 40 Days for Life, Planned Parenthood conducted a big nationwide fundraising campaign in an attempt to counter the effectiveness of 40 Days for Life.

At the end of the campaign, a Planned Parenthood web site bragged that the total amount raised for the abortion giant during the 40-day fundraising drive was $78,749.

I knew faithful pro-lifers could do better than that.

But I kept my mouth shut so I wouldn’t have to go back and eat my words.

Until now!

Far be it from me to rub Planned Parenthood’s nose in this, BUT…

…You just raised $158,734 in a few days — more than DOUBLE what the nation’s largest abortion chain was able to raise during their entire 40-day attempt to counter our collective efforts!

Doesn’t God have a great sense of humor?

3.) WISHING YOU A BLESSED CHRISTMAS!

On behalf of my wife Margaret, our children Claire and Patrick, and the entire 40 Days for Life national team, I want to wish you a very blessed Christmas.

While spending time with family and friends, let’s all reflect on the beautiful reality that God chose a mother’s womb as the place for our Savior, Jesus Christ, to come into the world.

It is our love for Him that inspires us to press on in our work to restore peace in the womb.

Merry Christmas!

40 Days for Life

P.S.- If you’re thinking about conducting a 40 Days for Life campaign in your town this coming spring (February 25 – April 5), we will begin accepting applications on January 6 — so mark your calendar!

THANK YOU + info about a great project…

Monday, December 15th, 2008

First of all I want to say a great big…

THANK YOU!!!

Due to your amazing generosity, 40 Days for Life met — and then exceeded — the $48,200 matching challenge by midnight Friday!

We don’t have a final total yet, as some gifts are still coming in the mail, but I knew you’d want to know that YOU DID IT!

(We’ll share the final numbers once we have them.)

Now here’s the information about a great project I’m excited about…

Would you like to play an active role in helping to overturn the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that imposed abortion on America?

Then you are invited to join a LIVE conference call tomorrow night — Tuesday, December 16 — where you will learn about an important effort being conducted by The Justice Foundation and Operation Outcry — the “Million Voices Campaign”:

http://www.MillionVoicesCampaign.com

This campaign is aggressively working to collect one million declarations from women (and men) who have been hurt by abortion.

These legally admissible testimonies will then be presented to the U.S. Supreme Court to demonstrate the harm caused by abortion — and to give the Court the tools necessary to reverse the unjust Roe v. Wade decision.

This effort is already gaining momentum and its efforts were cited in the Supreme Court’s ruling that upheld the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban.

To learn more about this important project, you are invited to join the one-hour conference call Tuesday night at 9 PM Eastern (6 PM Pacific) where you will discover:

  • What the “Million Voices Campaign” is about
  • Why this effort is important to ending abortion
  • The progress that has already been made in the efforts to collect one million testimonies of women and men hurt by abortion.

You will also hear inspiring stories of hope and healing from women who have experienced abortion.

The presenters on the call will include:

  • ALLAN PARKER, president of The Justice Foundation
  • CLAYTON TROTTER, general counsel for The Justice Foundation
  • LISA DUDLEY, director of outreach for Operation Outcry
  • TRACY REYNOLDS, producer of “Faces of Abortion” and media liaison for The Justice Foundation
  • KAREN BODLE, prayer team leader and Pennsylvania state leader for Operation Outcry
  • MISSY SMITH, Washington D.C. leader for Operation Outcry and 40 Days for Life local campaign leader

It’s absolutely FREE to participate, but they have only a limited number of slots available.

Get more details and register for the call at:

http://www.MillionVoicesCampaign.com

I’ll be on the call and hope you can join me!

Blessings,

David Bereit

Matching challenge- update & last chance!

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Before giving you the latest update of where we stand on the matching challenge, I want you to look at this INCREDIBLE picture:

Baby Shamus, spared from abortion by 40 Days for Life

That’s baby Shamus. His mother pulled up in front of the 40 Days for Life vigil this fall in West Palm Beach, Florida. She said to the prayer volunteers, “Dunno if you remember me, but a year ago you stopped me. Look in the back seat — he’s PERFECT.”

They say that a picture’s worth a thousand words.

Well, this photograph documents a baby who was saved by last fall’s 40 Days for Life — and then was brought out to meet the prayer volunteers at the 40 Days for Life campaign this fall.

And in the background you can see the abortion facility where he was scheduled to be aborted.

Wow.

This picture tells the entire story of 40 Days for Life, and as a friend of mine from Texas says, “If that don’t light your fire, then your wood’s wet.”

Shamus is one of 1,028 children who have been spared from abortion in the last 14 months.

And one day, I pray that you also can have the experience of meeting a child who is alive because of YOUR faithful participation in these efforts!

OK, I promised to let you know how we’re doing with the matching challenge. As I am writing this, you’ve helped to raise ** $44,650 ** toward the $48,200 matching challenge!

Some gifts are still coming in the mail, so I’m sure the total is a bit higher than that, but I knew you’d want to know just HOW CLOSE we are.

We’re trying to catch up with the wave of new donations, so if you’ve already made your gift to 40 Days for Life, THANK YOU!!

If you haven’t yet, the deadline for your donation to be instantly DOUBLED is tonight (Friday) at midnight if you’re giving online by credit card, or it must be postmarked by today if you’re mailing it in.

Make a one-time gift (that will be doubled):

http://www.40daysforlife.com/donate.cfm?selected=onetime

Make a monthly pledge (the annualized amount will be doubled):

http://www.40daysforlife.com/donate.cfm?selected=monthly

This is simply AMAZING — you are on the verge of helping 40 Days for Life raise close to $100,000 in just 72 hours…

…Just think how this will accelerate our unified efforts to end abortion!

Thank you SO MUCH, and keep praying!!

In Christ,

David Bereit
National Campaign Director
40 Days for Life

P.S.- Thanks for your patience with all the messages during this crazy week. I’m about to take a break from blogging so I can finally spend some time with my family over the weekend.

Full disclosure

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

To fully disclose everything that’s at stake right now, there are several very important items in this post…

1.) What will it feel like?
2.) The link to your “HOPE” transcript
3.) Plans for 40 Days for Life campaigns in 2009
4.) Plans to educate, equip, and empower
5.) Transparency about financial challenges
6.) Matching challenge will DOUBLE your gifts
7.) Mailing address for sending donations

Let’s dive right in…

1.) WHAT WILL IT FEEL LIKE?

Before anything else, I want you to look at this picture:

Orange County, California abortion facility closing its doors

That’s Shawn Carney from the national 40 Days for Life team with two local Orange County, California campaign leaders next to the “space available” sign that was placed outside the abortion facility on day 39 of their local campaign — the day the abortion center made public that it was closing its doors and shutting down.

As you look at that picture, think about what it will feel like when the abortion facility or Planned Parenthood nearest to you posts a similar sign outside — the day when you realize that due to your faithfulness, no more children will perish there and no more women will be wounded there.

It can happen.

And while you’re here, be sure to listen to this 9-minute audio with testimonials from a few more local 40 Days for Life campaign leaders as they share the blessings God accomplished in their communities during 40 Days for Life:

Listen to the Audio Online (click “Play” button to start audio):

Download MP3 (click to play, right-click to save to your computer):

http://40daysforlife.com/blog/audio/hopecall2.mp3

You’ll be inspired!

2.) THE LINK TO YOUR “HOPE” TRANSCRIPT

As promised, here’s the link to download the PDF transcript of the entire “HOPE” teleconference:

http://www.40daysforlife.com/docs/hopetranscript.pdf

I believe you’ll be blessed as you read this!

If you’d prefer to listen to the audio recording, it is posted online at:

http://www.instantteleseminar.com/?eventid=5247552

(We heard from a number of people that there’s a slight gap in the audio recording around minute 32. Please be patient while listening. It returns to normal in less than a minute.)

3.) PLANS FOR 40 DAYS FOR LIFE CAMPAIGNS IN 2009

It’s official! There will be TWO 40 Days for Life campaigns in 2009:

  • The dates for the spring 40 Days for Life are February 25 – April 5.
  • The dates for the fall 40 Days for Life are September 23 – November 1.
  • The interest in both of these campaigns has been far greater than we’ve ever seen before.
  • We will begin accepting applications for the spring campaign beginning on January 6, so mark your calendar.
  • Over the next few weeks, we will be releasing pre-training materials to help those who want to do a spring campaign get an early start on their planning and preparation.

We have no idea just how big these campaigns will be in 2009 — or how many more lives will be saved — but it promises to be an exciting year!

4.) PLANS TO EDUCATE, EQUIP, AND EMPOWER

When we asked by survey what the greatest needs were in your local pro-life efforts, the answer came back overwhelmingly.

People all across the country asked for help to educate, equip, and empower people at the local level — with cutting-edge training, tools, and proven strategies — that can save more lives and build momentum in a local community.

40 Days for Life successfully demonstrated that this can be done.

One simple idea was turned into step-by-step systems that people could easily implement in their local community…

…And look at the sweeping impact it has had!

Now, in collaboration with many leading pro-life groups and experts, we are taking steps to build a central technology hub that will serve as a pro-life clearinghouse, distributing training and resources to increase the effectiveness of local pro-life efforts across the nation while reducing learning curves and costs of implementation.

If God provides, we will begin rolling out the first steps of this in January.

For more information on this, I’d suggest reading the transcript from the “HOPE” call, beginning on page 20:

http://www.40daysforlife.com/docs/hopetranscript.pdf

5.) TRANSPARENCY ABOUT FINANCIAL CHALLENGES

So why would God give this fledgling effort — which has only been up and running for the last 14 months — such a huge mission?

I honestly don’t know.

But He continues to show us that He has much bigger plans for us that will require great faith.

During this fall’s 40 Days for Life campaign, we knew how much was at stake. So we invested everything we had into the campaign to ensure that there would be no regrets at the end.

And now, with no idea who might financially partner with us on these brand-new initiatives — and with no guarantees of what the future will hold — we are taking a huge leap of faith to press forward with these big plans.

Here’s why we’re doing it: 40 Days for Life is the single most impactful pro-life project we have ever participated in. Period.

Until now, we’ve only publicly asked for financial help ONE TIME — right after the spring campaign.

We haven’t had to ask again up to this point, because God has been faithful, and because the generosity of many people at that time carried us through a very successful fall campaign.

We’ve squeezed every penny we possibly can and our volunteers have worked round-the-clock without receiving a nickel of compensation.

My family and I are committed to work our hearts out and see this effort through to completion — regardless of the challenges — because we know how important it is.

But at this moment when we have unprecedented opportunities to change the course of history, 40 Days for Life has depleted our funds.

Isn’t that just like God to give us an opportunity to stretch our faith while doing His work?

As I was praying about what to do, God reminded me of you and the thousands of other faithful friends across the country who have been a part of this amazing movement. And He reminded me that “pride cometh before the fall.”

Well, God is giving me a great opportunity to swallow my pride and humbly come to you with the news that we are in significant need of financial help right now if we are to move forward on any of these plans.

40 Days for Life is in a unique position to save thousands of children from abortion in cities all across North America and beyond.

But we can’t do what needs to be done unless friends like you sacrifice with us.

I guess that’s what I’m asking you for: sacrifice.

Our family and the national team is willing to endure the hardships and inconveniences necessary to “fight the good fight” and end the tragedy of abortion.

I hope you will join us in making whatever sacrifice God puts on your heart today.

Ask God what He wants you to do to help. Then respond to Him — not to me.

Here’s my solemn promise to you: every penny you give to 40 Days for Life will be used in the most effective and efficient way possible to save innocent lives from abortion.

6.) MATCHING CHALLENGE WILL DOUBLE YOUR GIFT

Four generous donors — who want to remain anonymous — believe so strongly in this effort that they joined together to issue a $48,200 matching challenge to encourage others to join them in taking this work to a whole new level.

Here’s the catch…

…They will only double gifts or pledges made by midnight this Friday!

(Yes, that means TOMORROW, December 12!)

We’re now at the half-way point for this matching challenge, and we are a bit more than half-way to the total — but we’re not there yet. We certainly don’t want to leave any of this generosity sitting on the table!

If God is weighing on your heart to make a one-time gift that will be instantly DOUBLED, go right now to:

http://www.40daysforlife.com/donate.cfm?selected=onetime

On that page, you can make a secure donation online — or you can print out a form where you can indicate your one-time pledge or gift and mail it in, but it MUST be postmarked by Friday to count towards the match!

If you feel called to make a pledge of monthly support (the annualized amount of your pledge will be doubled!) go now to:

http://www.40daysforlife.com/donate.cfm?selected=monthly

We are VERY grateful that God has provided these amazing opportunities at this crucial moment and hope that you will respond generously.

7.) MAILING ADDRESS FOR SENDING DONATIONS

Many people have asked for our mailing address to send a donation. They can be sent to:

40 Days for Life
3515-B Longmire #316
College Station, TX 77845

Well, that’s a lot to cover, but with all that’s at stake right now — I figured you’d want to know all the important news!

God bless you for all you’ve done to help 40 Days for Life get to this point.

I can’t wait to see what God has in store for 2009 and beyond!

Yours for Life,

David Bereit
National Campaign Director
40 Days for Life

P.S.- If you have a question about making a gift that that isn’t answered at http://www.40daysforlife.com/donate just e-mail me at david@40daysforlife.com and we’ll do our best to get back with an answer before the matching challenge expires at midnight tomorrow.

Wall Street Journal’s talking about it!

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Today’s Wall Street Journal features a major article about new pro-life developments, stating that with Barack Obama “soon to take office, ‘we’re very limited as to what we can do’ on a federal level.” The article then identifies that “on the local level, there are a lot of victories to be had.”

That fundamental shift in the pro-life movement set the stage for last night’s 40 Days for Life “HOPE” teleconference and webcast that had 2,434 people registered by the time it wrapped up.

Here are just a few of the rave reviews that came in after the live event:

“This is AMAZING!!” — Roberto

“Excellent web-cast! I want to be involved. Thanks & your efforts WILL bring an end to abortion soon.” — Pat

“God bless you for the great work that is being done to rally everyone in a united front to end abortion. THANKS!!!!!” — Peggy

“Glory be to God in the Highest!!” –Ken

“Great, exciting news on the Teleconference!!!”  – Jane & John

“It was an excellent teleconference. I listened to the whole thing online after it had ended. These people are amazing and a testimonial of God’s work being done right in front of us.” –  Joan

We’ve had people asking for a written summary of what was covered on the call, so our transcriptionist is hard at work putting everything in writing.

She’s sending me the transcript later today and I’ll send it to you tomorrow.

Since it will be another day until I get that written summary to you, I decided to release the audio recording of last night’s event to EVERYONE, so you don’t have to wait to learn what all the excitement is about:

http://www.instantteleseminar.com/?eventid=5247552

On the recording you will hear from me and:

  • CARMEN PATE, national 40 Days for Life board member and co-host of the nationally syndicated “Point of View” radio talk show
  • SHAWN CARNEY, 40 Days for Life outreach director, executive director of the Coalition for Life — the local Texas group that started 40 Days for Life — and executive producer of EWTN’s “Being    Human” pro-life show
  • CARL BROWN of the Sanctity of Life Foundation who shared the exciting news about four anonymous donors who joined together to issue a $48,200 “matching challenge” to instantly DOUBLE every gift and pledge given to 40 Days for Life by Friday of this week!

http://www.instantteleseminar.com/?eventid=5247552

On the recording you will learn about:

  • The scope of the abortion crisis today and the new difficulties facing the pro-life movement in light of recent election outcomes…
  • How 40 Days for Life is strategically positioned to provide hope in the midst of these problems…
  • The sweeping impact of the three previous national 40 Days for Life campaigns…
  • The results of 6,200 surveys that clearly revealed where this effort needs to go next…
  • The specific plans for the two 40 Days for Life campaigns in 2009 — one in the spring and one in the fall — that promise to grow in size and effectiveness…
  • The brand new initiative that will educate, equip, and empower pro-lifers in hundreds of cities across North America to help them build on the momentum following a 40 Days for Life campaign and    help end abortion…
  • The organizational and financial challenges that we must overcome together if we are to seize the enormous opportunities that have presented themselves…
  • How YOU can make a life-saving impact at this crucial moment in history!

Listen to the streaming audio online (it will work for you even if you have a slower dial-up Internet connection) or you can download the MP3 to your iPod or computer at:

http://www.instantteleseminar.com/?eventid=5247552

After listening, I would really appreciate it if you would post your thoughts and comments about all of these developments at the bottom of this blog posting.

I hope you are as excited as we are!

40 Days for Life

This is HUGE!

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

It’s Tuesday morning, and I only have a few seconds, but I HAD to share this with you…

The bold headline running across the envelope of the latest fundraising letter from Planned Parenthood Federation of America screams:

“Relentless Anti-Choice Extremists: They’re coming after our organization with everything they’ve got! Help us fight their post-election challenges!”

Despite Planned Parenthood having just succeeded in getting many of their close friends elected to the highest offices in our land, the letter inside contains an urgent appeal for money, begging abortion advocates to “rush an immediate donation” to the abortion business to help fight “the latest showdown in a battle raging all across America.”

What does the abortion giant find so “critical”?

Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, clearly spells it out: “Now, here’s what worries us the most…”

Then she specifically identifies 40 Days for Life as one of the greatest threats to the abortion chain’s business.

Richard writes, “Planned Parenthood is under attack,” explaining the setbacks their staff and customers experienced when, “from September 24 to November 2, 2008 a coalition of anti-choice groups promoted a ‘40 Days’ campaign all across America, including 24/7 prayer vigils outside Planned Parenthood offices and health centers.”

She concludes the letter by saying, “the hard-edged, well-funded groups coming after Planned Parenthood are playing for keeps,” while telling abortion supporters, “I only hope you realize how urgently we need you.”

Wow.

While I certainly wouldn’t describe 40 Days for Life as “well-funded,” we ARE playing for keeps. This is a matter of life and death, and the stakes are too high to treat this any other way.

And it is an amazing testimony to the power of prayer — and YOUR dedication and faithfulness — when the nation’s largest abortion chain is running scared.

Here’s the best news of all…

Planned Parenthood doesn’t even yet have a clue about the brand-new initiatives we’re going to be publicly announcing for the first time TONIGHT!

The 40 Days for Life “HOPE” teleconference will announce these big plans for 2009 and already has more than 1,600 people registered.

This one-hour, action-packed call will be the single most important event that 40 Days for Life has held to date.

If you’ve already registered, make sure you dial-in 10 minutes early to be sure to get a spot…

…But if you have *not* yet registered, then this is your FINAL chance at:

Hope to talk tonight!

HOPE for the future!

Friday, December 5th, 2008

When this fall’s 40 Days for Life concluded, it was not the end.

For people in communities all across North America, it was a new beginning filled with great HOPE.

Here are just a few examples of the momentum that continues following this fall’s campaign…

TULSA, OK: “When will 40 Days for Life be over? Never! We bought the land across from the abortion clinic. There will always be someone here praying.”

SALT LAKE CITY, UT: “We will continue our prayer vigil at the abortion facility with continued support for our community crisis pregnancy centers.

MADISON, WI: “40 Days for Life has really united the pro-life community. This fall’s vigil was a foundation from which we are continuing building the culture of life.”

HONOLULU, HI: “Our local 40 Days for Life group plans to continue the public prayer on a regular basis.”

CHERRY HILL, NJ: “I am hearing the same thing over and over from our volunteers. We will not quit until this clinic closes down.”

To see just a few of the 76,000 faithful people who participated in this fall’s 40 Days for Life — and whose dedication is moving this effort forward — be sure to watch the 7-minute video which shows only HALF of the locations that participated in this fall’s campaign (unfortunately we weren’t able to get pictures from the other 91 sites, but we greatly appreciate their heroic efforts as well):

http://www.40daysforlife.com/hope

And despite disappointing election outcomes in America, breakthrough pro-life developments are happening almost daily. Here are just a few:

  • The Planned Parenthood affiliate in South Dakota that was the focus of a 40 Days for Life campaign in 2007 just announced that due to their dismal financial situation they are laying off nine employees, including their state director.
  • The Planned Parenthood affiliate in Indiana that has been focus of two 40 Days for Life campaigns is under fire from all sides for a sick publicity stunt that backfired — holiday gift certificates that can be used for abortions.
  • Dozens of news outlets around the country are reporting that two Planned Parenthood affiliates have been caught red-handed on undercover videos demonstrating a willingness to cover up the statutory rape of young girls. Fox News will air one of the videos and discuss this scandal with Students for Life executive director Kristan Hawkins, TONIGHT, Friday, December 5, on “Hannity and Colmes” which begins at 9 PM EST.

Here’s the bottom line: now is the time to take our pro-life efforts up to a whole new level!

With that in mind, it’s not too late to sign up for Tuesday night’s “HOPE” teleconference where we will be revealing — for the first time — the plans for this unified effort in 2009 and beyond.

We’ve secured 1,000 phone lines for this event, and as of this moment, 827 have already been claimed.

If you want to participate, get the details and register now at:

http://www.40daysforlife.com/hope

If you can’t get a phone line due to the number of participants, don’t worry. We’re also setting up a streaming web audio simulcast on Tuesday night so you can listen live via the web.

This is going to be the most important conference call that 40 Days for Life has held to date — and I sure hope you can be with us on that call!

Things keep getting more exciting by the day!

Major Announcement

Here’s the MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT I promised you!

From September 24 to November 2, the fall 2008 nationally coordinated 40 Days for Life campaign mobilized people of faith and conscience across 179 cities in 47 states, 2 Canadian provinces, an American territory, and the District of Columbia.

Watch the brand-new 7-minute video we just posted with pictures and results from many of the cities that participated in this fall’s campaign at:

During the unified efforts this fall, we witnessed countless blessings from God:

  • More than 76,000 believers joined together in an historic display of Christian unity, praying and fasting for an end to abortion, and conducting peaceful 40-day prayer vigils outside Planned Parenthood centers and abortion facilities…
  • Reports from around the country documented 614 lives spared from abortion — and those are just the ones we know about…
  • Eight abortion workers quit their jobs and walked away from the abortion industry…
  • Numerous abortion facilities cut back their days and hours of operation during the campaign, and another abortion facility announced on day 38 of this fall’s campaign that it was closing its doors for good…
  • Hundreds of women and men have been spared from the tragic effects of abortion, including a lifetime of regrets…
  • More than 130 news stories were featured in newspapers, magazines, radio shows and television programs from coast to coast…
  • Many people with past abortion experiences have stepped forward to begin post-abortion healing and recovery…
  • …And after 35 years of legalized abortion in America, many believers are experiencing a renewed sense of HOPE!

At the conclusion of this fall’s 40 Days for Life campaign, 6,194 people filled out detailed surveys which provided clear insights on where this effort needs to go from here.

After weeks of praying, reviewing the surveys, and mapping out focused strategic plans to build on this momentum, the national 40 Days for Life team has discerned the next steps for this nationwide effort…

…And we’re now ready to share these important strategies with YOU!
