Another abortion center CLOSED!

Monday, July 25th, 2011

David Bereit, 40 Days for Life’s national director, and I just got back from a whirlwind trip to Los Angeles, California, with GREAT news to share!

The abortion facility in La Puente — a suburb in East L.A. where five 40 Days for Life campaigns have been conducted — has just closed its doors and gone out of business!

The moment we heard the news, David and I knew we had to be there for the victory celebration rally with the local volunteers who tirelessly worked and prayed to make this day a reality …

… and it was AMAZING!

Watch the inspiring video above that tells the whole story. In the video you will see:

  • The closed abortion center — including the abandoned surgical tables left by the abortionist
  • How the simple faith of one person — the local campaign leader, Yvonne — inspired hundreds of others to get involved in La Puente … and beyond
  • The joyful reactions of the dedicated team of local volunteers upon hearing that the abortion center where they had prayed was closing its doors for ever
  • A case study of the miracles God can accomplish through the faithfulness of His people
  • How 40 Days for Life could make this same thing happen in YOUR community …

… and, best of all, halfway through the video, you will meet one of the many babies saved from abortion through God’s grace and the many hours of prayer that blanketed this abortion facility over the years!

This now makes FOURTEEN abortion centers that have gone out of business during or following 40 Days for Life prayer vigils outside their doors.

To God be the glory; great things He has done!

Perhaps this same thing could happen in your town. The next coordinated 40 Days for Life campaign runs from September 28 to November 6.

Almost every local 40 Days for Life campaign starts because of the faith and vision of one person. In your community, might that one person be YOU?

You still have until tomorrow — Tuesday, July 26 — to apply to lead a 40 Days for Life campaign in your community. Think about it, pray about it … and if you have any questions, please ask!

Then, if you feel called to apply to LEAD a 40 Days for Life campaign in your town, go to:

http://40daysforlife.com/apply

You may apply online or by mail, but all applications must be filed (or postmarked) by midnight tomorrow — TUESDAY, JULY 26.

I am in awe of what God has accomplished in La Puente, California. Maybe YOUR city will be the next one to celebrate the closure of an abortion facility!

Do it anyway!

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

The deadline to apply TO LEAD the next 40 Days for Life campaign in your community is just days away — Tuesday, July 26.

Before every campaign I hear, “Shawn, I have a heart for this, but I just don’t know if I can do it.”

Yes, a campaign can be a challenge. But this IS a leap of faith and we’ve seen countless people take that leap. And God always supplies the necessary grace when His people respond to His call.

Jesus tells us, “Be not afraid!”

In fact, earlier this year, our 40 Days for Life national director, David Bereit, was presented with the Henry Hyde Life Leadership Award at an event in Chicago.

David gave a rousing speech there called “Do it anyway!”

He shared his personal pro-life testimony — including many of the struggles, setbacks, and obstacles faced along the way — before motivating the hundreds in attendance to overcome their own challenges and “Do it anyway!”

The entire presentation was recorded by event organizers, and we have posted the audio online.

If you are trying to discern the unique role that God has for YOU in this life-saving work — make time to listen to this recording or download the MP3 today.

Following the spring campaign, we updated the figures David mentioned in his talk. We now know of a total of 4,313 babies who’ve been saved from abortion during 40 Days for Life campaigns — praise God!

If you KNOW IN YOUR HEART that your home town NEEDS this life-saving campaign, know that with God’s grace you can overcome whatever obstacles are holding you back.

Do it anyway! And look forward to what God has in store.

(If you’re not feeling the call to leadership right now, PLEASE take a moment to pray for those who are pondering this leap of faith, but still need a spiritual nudge to take that next step.)

Expecting great things,

Shawn Carney
Campaign Director
40 Days for Life

PS: Just a reminder that the applications are for LEADING local 40 Days for Life campaigns. To take part in the campaign from September 28 to November 6, no application is required.

How YOU can save lives

Monday, July 11th, 2011

Are you the right person to lead a 40 Days for Life campaign in your community?

If you’ve been pondering that question, I’ve posted a 27-minute video that addresses that topic.

And you won’t BELIEVE the story I share at the end of this video about what happened to one local campaign leader who took a leap of faith and conducted a 40 Days for Life in her city. It’s absolutely stunning!

If you’re discerning whether you are the one to take on a leadership role in a local 40 Days for Life campaign, then this video is for YOU.

This video uses real-life stories of people — just like YOU — that have answered God’s call to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.

By the way, this video was recorded last summer. Since that time, a fourth child has been born into the Carney family — Bernadette. And those numbers I mentioned about the blessings of 40 Days for Life? They’ve increased in number as well!

  • 1,332 individual campaigns have taken place in 387 cities
  • More than 400,000 have joined together in an historic display of unity to pray and fast for an end to abortion
  • More than 13,000 church congregations have participated in the 40 Days for Life campaigns
  • 4,313 lives that have been spared from abortion — and those are just the ones we know about
  • 53 abortion workers have quit their jobs and walked away from the abortion industry
  • 13 abortion facilities completely shut down following local 40 Days for Life campaigns

After watching, if you feel that you might be called to coordinate a 40 Days for Life campaign in your city, then apply now:

http://www.40daysforlife.com/apply

There is still time left until the application period closes on July 26 and preparations begin for this next campaign, which starts on September 28 and runs through November 6.

There is still time to pray, discern your role, and be part of shaping history.

For Life,

Shawn Carney
Campaign Director
40 Days for Life

PS: Remember, the applications are only for those who are stepping forward to LEAD a campaign in their community. If you wish to participate in one of these campaigns, you’ll have your chance to volunteer soon.

PPS: If you are blessed by the video — especially the amazing story at the end — I’d love to hear about it. Please leave me a comment below.
