40 Days for Life is clearly having an effect on abortion facilities across the country.
The abortion center in Augusta, Maine has certainly taken notice of the 40 Days for Life vigil taking place outside. And it must be having an effect, because they’ve stolen a page from Planned Parenthood’s playbook by starting a “Pledge-a-Picketer” campaign.
The Family Planning Association of Maine abortion facility has a big notice on its web page where their CEO bemoans, “Every day as I drive into work and see their signs I become increasingly frustrated.” He then asks supporters to make a donation if they’re “tired of the anti-choice movement offending you with graphic inflammatory signs.”
What’s really ironic is that the web site posts actual photos of the peaceful, prayerful people at the vigil and their alleged “graphic inflammatory signs.”
Take a look for yourself:
(If the abortion business takes the pictures down when they get wind of this message, just know that the only signs read “Pray to End Abortion” and “Choose Life.”)
Not exactly graphic and inflammatory…
The photos also show a few faithful 40 Days for Life participants — and a whole lot of snow.
Now that’s dedication!
In College Station, Texas, the Planned Parenthood abortion facility was shocked to learn that they’re getting a new neighbor: the Coalition for Life — the pro-life organization that started 40 Days for Life back in 2004.
(And yes, that’s the organization that Shawn Carney — the spring campaign director of 40 Days for Life — leads in his hometown.)
The coalition just bought a building practically next door to the Planned Parenthood abortion center where a 40 Days for Life vigil is currently under way.
The close proximity to the abortion facility will better enable the coalition to maintain its regular presence, deliver effective counseling, and offer women better alternatives than Planned Parenthood.
The local CBS affiliate in Bryan/College Station interviewed Shawn about this development, and you can see the video here:
Due to the consistent and focused efforts of the Coalition for Life since the first 40 Days for Life, the people of Bryan/College Station — including the news outlet reporting this story — no longer think in terms of “IF” Planned Parenthood closes, but “WHEN” Planned Parenthood closes!
Can you imagine the profound impact that will be felt in YOUR town through ongoing, focused efforts during, and after, a 40 Days for Life campaign?

DAY 27 INTENTION
We pray for the gift of openness to children.
God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”
– Genesis 1:27-28
REFLECTION by Rev. Ben Sheldon, Presbyterians Pro-Life
God’s intention is that we multiply and fill the earth.
One of the most pernicious lies that sociologists have foisted off on the public is that the earth is becoming overpopulated. What kind of a sadistic god would create the earth and human creatures on it, only to have them literally reproduce themselves into oblivion? The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is our divine Creator, has commanded us to multiply and fill the earth and far from letting the population get out of control, He has, in fact given his human creatures a dominical role over all the lesser creatures. The “birth control” movement, which had its beginnings with Margaret Sanger in the early years of the last century, has led, in many parts of the world, to a birthrate that is drastically below the normal replacement rate.
God’s Word assures us that children are a blessing, that they are a reward of faithfully trusting and serving God and that they are the crown of their parents’ old age. The spread of the contraception mentality that has so permeated our culture is, undoubtedly, a factor in the ready acceptance of abortion. God’s commandment to multiply and fill the earth has never been withdrawn. May He help us to accept the gift of children and give him thanks for every baby who is born into the world.
Father of mercy and grace, we thank you for the gift of our children. Grant that every fiber of our being may rejoice when a new baby, our own or any else’s, is born into the world. Help us to welcome them as we would welcome you, for whenever a new baby is conceived, another life to bear your image and another voice to praise and worship you, is beginning. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
