Geography & Math Quiz

October 14th, 2007 by admin

My 9-year-old daughter Claire has been to 21 of the 40 Days for Life locations since the campaign began September 26. As part of her homeschooling activities, Claire came up with a geography and math quiz to share with other children who want to learn through the 40 Days for Life effort.

Feel free to review the 40 Days for Life location list at:

I am a homeschool mom, and my kids are fasting (o.k. they are giving up chocolate) for 40 days. We want to say hi to Claire: “HI CLAIRE”, and thank her for making the geography quiz.
Claire, I have to tell you something. Knowing you are participating in 40 days made me wake up to the obvious…. I was wondering how I could get some friends to come with me to a prayer vigil, you know everyone has the “We’re too busy” excuses, and then it hit me: Take my kids!!!! Claire, if you can be part of a prayer vigil, so can my 11, 9, 7year olds, and my 18 month baby. They will learn to stand up to evil in their community and over come it with prayer and the power of God. There is no better character lesson I could possibly prepare.
Thank you Claire, for being part of 40 days. You showed me that I should be more actively involving my kids! Thanks to your parents too, for their Godly example.

I live in BC and am so inspired by this event! A seed has been planted to see about starting 40 Days for Life in Canada. Although we have bubble zone laws that would restrict us from being anywhere near the actual clincs in BC, those laws are currently under appeal, and we can still meet outside hospitals. It occured to me when I read the quiz that Seattle IS close to Vancouver and I just might have to bring my crew across the border for some prayer time!

  7. Robert Florin Says:

God bless you Dave & your family
A funny thing happened on Thursday, this is the day p/p does the abortions in New Rochelle,N.Y. there were very few people going in or out of p/p that day, there was one young man who worked there, filled with tatoo’s and rings, always going in & out, looking at us, this seemed strange. I pray we have slowed buisness down for them.
    Thank You & God Bless

  8. Patty Veazey Says:

    Hi Claire,
My name is Anna and I’m a Catholic, homeschooled, 9 year old too! [Contact me] if you want to get in touch. I also have a blog that I will e-mail to you if you send me your e-mail address. Hope to hear from you.

  14. Laura Says:

I have a brain injured brother and I am focused a lot on him… see the website.

However, I am also a mom of 6 and we homeschool and have one child in Catholic school. Two of our children are very boldly giving up sweets during the 40 days for life. At the supper table tonight the 10 year old was trying really hard not to “give in” to a reprieve I allowed his sister – to have ice cream for dessert. He kept saying “will power, will power, will power” and he DID succeed in abstaining from the treat.

The reason I gave the “reprieve” was to ask the kids to all say a prayer for their uncle, my brother, as they ate their ice cream, that one day their uncle will again be able to swallow and enjoy ice cream with them. This is our “reverse fast” we do sometimes to pray for restoration for my dear brother.

In the meantime, our children are very into the 40 days and badger me to go on the days we promised. We have missed twice, but been present 3 times.

The kids are leading the way and they are truly aware of the NEED to “be there.” Their dad (my husband) brought the whole gang to the West Chester, PA this morning to pray. He reports that 2 prolifers were there and then left when he came, but hardly any activity occured in and out of PP.

One of the “escorts” for this PP has a beard and our children have nick-named him “Count Duku”, a character from Star Wars… so, today, they were very relieved to see that Count Duku was not there!

  15. Anna Says:

    Psalms 11:3

    If the foundations are destroyed,
    what can the righteous do?

Father forgive us, for we destroy
the very foundations of our civilization.
In our ignorance and arrogance we
    create laws that encourage and
    justify our destructive choices.

We call it evolution of our society,
when in reality it is the
    dissolution of our society.

How can we destroy the life of
    our children without destroying
our own lives? They are a part of us
and we are a part of them.

Hear the prayers of your people Lord,
crying for our nation to repent and humble
themselves to turn from this destructive path.

    Dry up this trail of death and tears;
give us rivers of life; foundations of
    truth and integrity.

Give your people strength and endurance
to bombard the gates of hell with our prayers
    until no more mother’s cry
    because their baby has died.

We stand and plead for our nations children
on the solid foundation of your son’s
    precious name.

In Jesus name we pray, always. AMEN

  17. Bug's Mom Says:

April 9th had been the day that I picked to go and pray with our local 40 Days for Life vigil team because it was the only day that my 12 year old daughter could attend, and she wanted to be physically there to witness, with her own eyes, the miracles that God could and would do. Although we have been praying from home for several years, she was now ready to step up and be counted as one of the faithful who are not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, in this very tangible way.
We had several friends say that they wanted to go with us and link arms, but in the end, even her best friend canceled the night before. She would not be swayed and as we prayed that night to be covered by the full armor of God I told her that I knew that God was going to give us at least two miracles the next day, one for each of us, because we were not only praying, but we were praying BELIEVING that He would.
Although we baptized her in a Catholic church as a baby, since she was three years old we have been regularly attending a non-denominational church of my husband’s choosing where we have all grown in our love and knowledge of Christ. As the day was approaching, and I knew that our friends were not going to be there with us, I prepared her by teaching her how to say a rosary so that she and I could join in unison with our Catholic brothers and sisters who may be in attendance. She even took it upon herself to print from the web an instructional page and color-coded it for her remembrance.
Before the sun rose the next morning we were both eager to get there before the girls arrived for their processing because it was abortion day at the clinic. When we arrived, there were already 7 others out there praying including a young man her age, which particularly encouraged her. At least there was one courageous young man whom God was raising up for her generation.
From the moment we arrived, my daughter kept count of all the people who entered the building… each life important to her and to God, but she also kept count of the faithful who joined us for prayer. By the time we had to leave, 65 people had entered the building, but the number praying on the sidewalk had far exceeded that, including many, many more kids of all ages. We were more than relieved that we didn’t have to pray alone.
By the end of the day, the coordinators calculated that more than 18,000 Hail Mary’s were prayed that day by more than 110 prayer warriors, including 3 priests and 4 sidewalk counselors. Not only that, but 4 mothers turned around that day! God had exceeded our expectations with a double blessing.
The minute we returned home, my daughter made a special rosary with red and black beads to use the next time we get to go and pray, believing we will see the end of legal abortion in her lifetime…. for we know and have seen that Our God is able!

Ephesians 3:20-21 (New King James Version)

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
