By now you may have heard the buzz — that Laura Ingraham was enthusiastically promoting 40 Days for Life to millions of people on the Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends” program yesterday morning.
We NEVER imagined that kind of publicity and attention when 40 Days for Life first began!
This spring’s 40 Days for Life marks the TENTH nationally and internationally coordinated campaign since this effort went from humble beginnings to spread around the world.
To mark this occasion — national director David Bereit went back to where it all began.

BRYAN / COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS
——————————————————
Most people don’t realize that with prayer, we can change our world — even in the public right-of-way.
The public right-of-way in Bryan/College Station, Texas is special. In fact, the local police once told me it was officially the “most protested strip of public right-of-way in America.”
I saw that as a huge compliment because I knew that the people there were praying, and that made the difference.
For eight years — as volunteers on opposite sides of the fence and then directors of opposing organizations — I watched Abby Johnson drive to and from her office at Planned Parenthood every day.
We prayed for her … but never imagined the day when she, the director of our Planned Parenthood, would ever JOIN us in prayer on that public right-of-way as a pro-life advocate.
Prayer makes the difference.
David Bereit went back and fired up the crowd at their local kickoff event … and it was captured on video.
Watch this video from the birthplace of 40 Days for Life and you will:
- Learn breaking news about the unprecedented decline in business that Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry are experiencing RIGHT NOW
- Understand the urgency and vital importance of this 40TH YEAR of legal abortion in America
- Discover how YOUR participation in 40 Days for Life this spring will make a profound, life-saving impact!
Whether you’re brand new to 40 Days for Life, or a veteran of many campaigns, take the time to watch this inspiring video TODAY!
Here’s the link to today’s devotional.
As we begin the second week of this 40 Days for Life, let’s pray that God continues to pour out His rich blessings on everyone involved!
Yours for Life,

Beautiful, Just Beautiful!!
February 29th, 2012 at 7:38 am
I have invited 22 local Catholic friends to come pray with me in front of Planned Parenthood here in Virginia Beach. Last Sunday, no one came. I ask for prayers for safety as I may need to stand alone.
Thank you and God bless!
February 29th, 2012 at 8:02 am
Laura,
I am praying for others to join you and for your safety. I’ve prayed many times here in my city, and God’s love always surrounded me.
I know one person in VA Beach and will ask him to join you on Sunday.
We’ll see what God will do with this request.
This week, I was praying on the sidewalk and a pro-life gentleman stopped and shook my hand, thanking me for praying there, but not realizing PP did abortions in the building, right in the middle of our downtown area. He took a flyer to learn about 40Days and I pray he will return.

Please pray for 2 young women who are being pressured by family members to get an abortion. Myra is one of the women, but I do not know the other’s name. They need your prayers. Thank you.

Laura,
I will be praying in front of Options Clinic this afternoon. That people will join you this Sunday will be my prayer. I will tell others in our 40 Days For Life, La Crosse, Wi to pray, too.

Wonderful encouragement for all of us who stand out in the cold during these 40 Days! When this is all over, in history I am sure that we will be referred to as the abortion abolitionists!
February 29th, 2012 at 12:55 pm
Nancy, be assured of my prayers and I ask your prayers in return. Since the national 40daysoflife began nationally I have prayed at the abortion mill which is just a block away from my apartment in Los Angeles. Every day during the campaigns that I am in Los Angeles, I have tried to pray a rosary and chaplet there. 99% of the time no one has joined me. You are not alone. Your angels are with you. The whole communion of Saints is with you. Just standing there with a sign and in prayer great things can be accomplished. People are informed and will approach you. God bless you and persevere!
February 29th, 2012 at 1:40 pm
Laura,
Thank you so very much for your courage. Prayer is so powerful. We will pray for you.
February 29th, 2012 at 1:44 pm
Dear Shawn,
Thank you for sharing this story. My personal story is I spent 3 years in Houston, Texas (2003-2006) praying and fasting for the war on abortion. I was able to be involved with many marian prayer groups across the city praying the rosary with so many faithful people to end this evil in America. Houston is so blessed because there are so many 24 hour adoration chapels across the city and prayer and devotions are practiced throughout many parishes. Your message of prayer and fasting is the only way we will win. Keep up the good work!

My husband and I are fasting with partial abstinence. We shall
Together say a rosary from 6:30 to 7pm daily. I shall invite 10 friends
For a visit before the tabernacle at 3pm for 40
DAys. God bless all of you. May Our Lady of Guadalupe
Stay close by and protect t us always.

Want to pray the rosary for an end to abortion but don’t like doing it alone? Please join the thousands already praying it live 7 days/week with the host of Morning Air, Sean Herriott, on Relevant Radio at about 7:35 Central time. Radio Maria and some EWTN radio stations are also participating. If there is no station in your area, you may listen via the computer (relevantradio.com) anywhere in the world. If 7:35a is not a convenient time for you, there are replays at 8p and 10:30 pm. Otherwise, you may pray it at any time of the day or night by streaming or downloading to a device from the computer. Please ask the Blessed Mother for her intercession.
February 29th, 2012 at 3:23 pm
Praise God, we’re never alone! There are thousands and thousands of brothers and sisters praying together during these days of prayer and fasting throughout the world! We’re slowly growing in numbers but we don’t go by numbers. The Lord is looking for contrite hearts. We’re a small group of women of faith on the streets taking the Good News in ITHACA,NY. We have been told to mind our own business. We are by minding Our Father’s business. Others say that we should be doing something instead just standing there. We are by standing for life made in God’s image. Some said we are doing it all wrong. We couldn’t be further from the Truth! We speak the Truth when men regret their lost fatherhood, women regret their abortions, and we offer support and prayer by directing the women to life-saving pregnancy centers. Many men have sought hope so we offer to pray with them. Oh, the Lord is so good– may we continued to see Him in all He sends to us by divine appointment! Amen! Mary Anne, Ithaca 40 Days for Life

Finally, after 3 years of want to ask other person/churches to come to 40 days for life….mailed out 22, and then leaving the newsletter the ADVOCATE by Lila Rose and Live action news. Left them in the bank, tucked them in ‘wood for sale’…left in bathrooms, banks, restraunts…./posted in hospitals…etc…THE SPIRIT IS ON THE MOVE…..

Let us all pray for an end to abortion.
February 29th, 2012 at 6:12 pm
Dear Shawn and Friends of Life,
We began our Lenten Season here at St Bonaventure Catholic Church in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with a full church on Ash Wednesday, then our annual “Soup and a Bun and the Stations of the Cross” the following Friday.. The evening was sponserd by our Monday Night Hour of Prayer. Because it was the First Week of Lent, we were not expecting a large number to come, but we should never, never under-estimate the power of prayer!! The hall was full of participants coming to share our delicious soups and pray the Stations with us!! We wanted the gift offering for the soup and bun to go to Forty Days for Life. We placed a basket for donations and a print out of the first four days of the new campaign. We collected $180. for your campaign but the best part, we were able to share information on the Forty Days for Life Campaign and invite anyone wishing to join us at the Kensington Abortion Clinic for a Prayer Vigil. We have gathered a group together and we will be making our Lenten Prayer Vigil soon. We will keep you informed.
We so appreciate all you do for Life and we keep all of you in our heart and in our prayers daily.
Could you please let us know how to send you this small but love filled offering for this most important mission of love. God Bless all of you abundantly!
In the Heart of Jesus and Mary

Prayer from Tampa Florida to you, how powerful prayer is, Jesus hears our prayers and is working through you to win the lost and save these precious babies and give them a chance to grow and become the men and women that God can use in His kingdom. Never give up.
February 29th, 2012 at 6:51 pm
“I AM KEEPING MY BABY!” is what we heard today at exactly 3 p.m. A mother walking into the Abortion Clinic in West Palm Beach – her little girl in hand – walked right back out and yelled across the street to our group of volunteers who had just finished a Divine Mercy chapelet and exclaimed to the great joy of all: “I AM KEEPING MY BABY!” .
Thank you Mother Mary and thank you Jesus for hearing our cries for your help. You have really come through and saved the life of an innocent unborn baby who only has us for it’s voice, only us to defend it’s life.

I pray early in the morning and am sometimes the only one keeping vigil so I know what Laura is talking about with being alone, although I do not fear for my safety. I remind myself that others are praying with me and picture all our prayers rising up to heaven. One nice thing is that I have been able to play worship music on my phone as I prayer walk. I have been asking God to bring His glory down and today I felt a difference there. Please pray for a women dealing with the pain of her recent abortion and the toll it is taken on her marriage. Thanks!
February 29th, 2012 at 10:36 pm
I am blessed to be able to participate at the vigil here in Charlotte at Hebron. I have met many faithful men, women and children there on the right of way. The road is very busy and of those drivers who take a moment to let us know they see and feel what we are doing there, it is an extreme rarity to get anything other than a wave, thumbs up, a smile or praying hands and a nod!
This evening at South Charlotte Baptist Church our Pastor Scott, a faithful pastor and servant of the Lord, encouraged our members to participate and I have joy in my heart to belong to such a wonderful body of Christ! Do not lose faith…ask, lead by example, ask again and keep the prayers UP!
March 1st, 2012 at 12:06 am
I am happy to be part of this vigil for the second time. Last Friday we stood out in 45mph winds and freezing cold praying the rosary in front of our local abortion mill in Cincinnati. Laura and Nancy, you are never alone, God is always with you and everyone in this vigil. We support each other in prayer. God knows, we are all doing our very best, and so we just let Him do the rest. For Jesus said, ” Where there are more than one or two praying together….”. Let’s keep on keeping on for the babies…
March 1st, 2012 at 11:23 am
May we continue to bring the love of Christ to our brothers and sisters in need and may we continue to pray to end abortion. Hearts are being changed and lives are being saved! God Bless all of you and thank you Shawn and David for giving all of us an opportunity to pray with others throughout the world :-)

Laura: Standing alone is a VERY powerful statement!! In my community the lack of interest is almost palpable—–I unite myself in spirit every day for all those who are praying in front of abortion clinics and hospitals. God is with us and his angels be around you!!
March 1st, 2012 at 3:14 pm
Cindy: You and Laura and any others who stand alone are showing such courage!!!!! God bless you…….With you in spirit!

I know the feeling of praying by myself and trying to bring information to young people. I teach at a public university and I had one student come to a conference that I presented last year. This year I was giving out pro-life information in front of the cafeteria by myself on February 16th. Let’s not give up! One person and Jesus and Mary, makes three!
God bless you!
