DAY 41: 883 babies spared (updated!)

April 1st, 2012 by admin

Today is “Day 41.” We take time now to look back at the blessings God has provided during the 40 Days for Life campaign that just ended, of course. But just as importantly, we also look to the future.

For this campaign, we have received reports of 883 babies spared from abortion — that we know of!

Many of the local campaigns are still compiling reports, so it’s highly likely that this number will increase as the national team receives more of their updates.

Praise God!

RENO, NEVADA

Cyndy had the opportunity to talk with a couple on the sidewalk outside the abortion center in Reno. The wife had been told that she needed an abortion because she and the child could die if she continued the pregnancy.

“Cyndy gave them our resource list,” said Carol Marie in Reno, “and thank God, they used it.” They were referred to the emergency room. “The following day, rather than returning to the abortion site, they visited the local pregnancy center for life-affirming help,” Carol Marie said. “Praise God!”

DUBLIN, IRELAND

Abortion is not legal in Ireland – but there are agencies that encourage women to travel to England to abort their babies.

Carolyn in Dublin says the vigil “is so far successful, thank God.” They are able to refer women for pro-life assistance – and away from abortion. “We have confirmation of one baby saved,” she said, “and we are in regular contact with the couple.”

POUGHKEEPSIE, NEW YORK
——————————————————

As Rich was praying at the 40 Days for Life vigil in Poughkeepsie, he noticed a red SUV enter the Planned Parenthood parking lot. One of the volunteers walked over to talk – and to offer some information, which the driver accepted.

The car then parked close to the entrance, and the prayer team could see if was a mother and her two teenage daughters. After a while, Rich said, “The mother came over to us and told us that her daughter was NOT going to have the abortion. She was very strong on that.”

——————————————————
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS
——————————————————

Mary in Little Rock says a couple from Memphis came for an abortion on the advice of four doctors, who all said the baby would die and possibly the mother.

The volunteers told them there were other options to consider. The woman was referred to a pro-life ob/gyn who specializes in high-risk pregnancies. “Against all odds,” Mary said, “their baby continues to live. She is 7 months along … we are praying for a miracle.”

God has granted many miracles in this campaign. We can always join in praying for one more!

WOW!!! What wonderful news the last 4 days have brought, since I have been able to tune in. How delightful 668 tiny lives saved…PRAISE BE TO OUR LOVING GOD… another 3 workers quit, just wonderful… more clinics have closed…. Thank you to Shawn and David, especially to Shawn for so faithfully keeping up your daily updates so many of us wait for also your very encouraging words… and those devotionals are just great so inspiring, especially Father Pavone’s last two on days 40 and 41… wonderful “witnessing to the Kingdom of Light 40 days bearing abundant fruit, beginning each day to storm the gates of hell.. praying in the victorious name of Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Tell the folks in Little Rock to refer their Memphis couple to Be Not Afraid. There they can find help and encouragement from other moms who have faced grave prenatal diagnoses.

Omaha, NE: Our congregation got involved with the 40 Days campaign for the first time this year – encountered new prayer friends, witnessed supporters and detractors, and focused on creating public awareness of the activities going on at the abortion facility nearby our church site. Members of our team reported personal growth and affirmations from the Lord that He was present and guiding our efforts – the battle belongs to the Lord!

We closed out 40 Days yesterday with a Palm Sunday life march, and shared the experience of Israel at Jericho by marching 7 times around the public access area in front of the abortion facility. As with that passage of scripture, our focus was on the nature of this battle, being a spiritual one for which our God is leading forth His people for victory. Our march covered about 9 blocks from church to abortion site, carrying banners and palm branches along busy thoroughfares to bring attention to the call for life. Knowing we may not personally witness an end to abortion, we trust and lay on the Lord our cries for delivery from the hands of “men of blood.” May the Empty Tomb of Easter Sunday proclaim loudly the God of Life!

Re: ‘Giving hope to others in our path’ and especially in light of a failed Idaho Legislative battle to pass an “Ultrasound Bill” — so much negativity and lies from the pro-choice community/PP/ACLU and bad press.

So here’s Emily’s story from last week at PP in Boise: “It was a rainy morning. A woman in her late seventies approached (clear hair protector and all :-) … I asked her if she was there to pray and she said that she drives by everyday on her way to and from work and ’sees us there and thinks it is so great’. She said that she wanted to ‘encourage me/us to continue and to recognize me/us for being out there in the rain and all alone’. She said ‘if you pay attention to the media, one might think we were all pro-choice around here, but that is just not true! It is great what we are doing’ and she is ‘proud that we are standing up for what is right.’ So she said she ‘just wanted to encourage us to keep going’ ….”

And then a quick story about the “cross before us” as we prayed at PP .. it’s quite subtle, because of course there are telephone poles everywhere. But just across the street from where we pray, there is ONE pole that is different — it has a big crossbar, unlike all the others along that major thoroughfare, that forms a CROSS right before us AS WE PRAY … helping us to “keep our eyes fixed on heaven” and the “hope that is ours because of Him”!

I am so grateful for this web site. We surely enjoyed each entry and prayer for all involved the the 40 days! Blessings to all from CA to Dublin and beyond. I gained many prayer friends, and sidewalk warriors. Go Genaro, you are my rock! I met my new sidewalk warrior at the beginning of this 40 days. He is my mentor as a sidewalk councelor to english and spanish speakers alike. I am his back up. Thank you for all you do! Blessings….

On March 20 I called to wish my granddaughter a “Happy 10th Birthday” and she said that one of the ways they were going to celebrate her birth (besides getting a gerbil) was to go pray in front of the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Mobile, AL. She was very excited because she said that her prayers would help another child be able to have a birthday too one day. During their time of Vigil her Mom (my daughter) and Vickie, a regular intercessor, spoke with a couple who were very receptive about choosing Life for their baby — we pray this is one who will get to celebrate birthdays also.

What a life-changing vigil, and to think it’s only the first for 2012! This was my first 40 Days For Life vigil, and by praying for others over 40 days, MY life was changed forever. From the tear I shed on day one, to the excitement and love when I learned of babies (and mothers and fathers) saved, I was consistently reminded of the Power and Grace of God throughout these 40 days. May this Easter be a lasting reminder to all why so many are working so hard to protect life!

Our group was so inspired by everything about 40 DFL that we’ve decided to continue praying at our local hospital every Friday, which is the day abortions are done there. We will carry Pro-Life signs (just not 40 DFL signs) and pray – just as we did the past 40 days. It will be very informal – no sign up calendar, etc. – just people who care about moms and babies praying for an end to abortion and witnessing to the community – most of whom do not know abortions are even done in our hospital.

My apologies for this getting to you late on this Holy Saturday.
Our campaign must have been blessed from the beginning because it was wrought with trials.
10 days before the campaign was to begin, the husband of our campaign director fell off a roof and broke his back. The campaign directors initial thought was to postpone the campaign, but she decided against it.

During the 1st week of the campaign, 2 of our vigil participants, as pedestrians, were hit by cars, (not at the vigil location), and another man fell and broke his hip at the vigil location. The words he had just uttered before he fell was to the man who broke his back and he asked, “so do you feel this campaign has been attacked by satan?” We thought the timing was very interesting.

We were also ‘attacked’ 3 times by members of the community who didn’t agree with what we were doing or saying.
The first man ripped our signs out of the ground and threw them at vigil participants, at the Planned Parenhood building and into the street.

The second, a woman, approached our vigil with 2 large dogs and proceeded to remove our signs from the ground, threatening anyone who stopped her she would command her dogs to attack. She ran off down the street with $70 worth of pro-life signs.
The third was the same woman with the dogs, who came back this time with out the dogs and started to spray-painted the signs she didn’t get the first time. When the campaign director tried to stop her, the woman sprayed her in the face with black spray paint. Thank God, she wears glasses and her eyes were somewhat protected from the paint.

But amidst the trials, our campaign was also showered with many graces and much goodness.

Most of the people approached with precious feet pins were very open to clinic information and dialougue. Most were not defensive and angry but afraid and confused and seemed relieved someone had another choice to offer them.

We were honored to have, as a speaker at our closing celebration, the nurse manager from the PRC we were using. She confirmed 3 of the women we sent to her clinic chose life for their unborn babies.

The theme that seemed to resonate for me through this campaign was, ‘God will provide’. We had a very small group of people to staff this campaign, but God always provided. Every need, it seemed, He filled, from people to fill time slots, to donations for vigil supplies, to providing a hall at no cost at the last minute for our closing celebration.

In this campaign, our faith was strengthened, our resolve fortified and our gratitude and love for the Triune God, greatly increased.

We also made some really good friends and shared our faiths!
    Blessed be God forever!
