DAY 13: 112 spared!
As we start a new week, let’s rejoice at the good that God has done! So far, there have been 112 babies saved from abortion — that we know of — during this 40 Days for Life campaign!
And that means that since 40 Days for Life began as a coordinated campaign five years ago, there have now been, through God’s grace, MORE THAN 6,000 LIVES SAVED!
Here are just a few of those babies’ stories.

DALLAS, TEXAS

“Today is a day that I will never forget,” said one of the 40 Days for Life volunteers in Dallas. “Today, for the first time, I stood in front of an abortion clinic with other Christians and prayed for an end to abortion.”
There was a heaviness all around her, she said, yet “it quickly became apparent to me that God Himself was there among us, in a very real way.”
She kept her head down, “trying to block out the traffic noise and focus on why I was there.”

It was at that point that one of the counselors came up and said, “A woman just chose life!”
The woman had come for an abortion, but couldn’t bring herself to go through with it. She was weeping as she spoke with the counselor.
“Wow! God was already answering our prayers,” the volunteer said, “as we stood there on that sidewalk.”

DOWNEY, CALIFORNIA

Patti, the local leader in Downey, knows of several women who’ve chosen life for their babies during this campaign. “God is answering in mighty ways,” she said.
In a posting on the 40 Days for Life blog, another volunteer tells of a young woman who walked up to vigil participants and introduced herself. She was holding a small child as she told them her story.
During last fall’s campaign, she was at this very same facility as a client — she was going to have an RU-486 abortion. As she was walking in, she noticed the people praying. It was a thought she couldn’t get out her mind.
When she was given the first abortion pill to take, she walked out, telling the staff, “I can’t do this!”
After finishing her story, she told the volunteers that she would be taking her infant son to church the following Sunday for a dedication ceremony.
Some of the people listening to all of this then took her to a nearby Christian pregnancy help center, where she picked up some much-needed baby supplies — and a new outfit for her son.
Said one of the volunteers, “To God be the glory!”

BUFFALO, NEW YORK

Peter tells the story of a young woman who left the abortion center and walked up to three prayer volunteers and struck up a conversation. The three soon found out that the woman was pregnant.
Before long, she simply said, “I don’t want to have the abortion.”
The prayer volunteers got her in touch with a counselor, who had a long discussion with her. The woman, Peter said, “had come to the realization from seeing a her sonogram that it was truly a baby growing in her womb and NOT just a ‘fetus’ as noted to her by clinic staff.”

Peter later had a chance to speak with her “and assured her that she will have all of our prayers … and we will guide her to receive all the support she needs from the Buffalo pro-life community.”

I’m beginning to see all the babies saved from abortion in this and other campaigns like it, will be God’s army that fights abortion when they are older. They will have authority no one could imagine and they will be able to, figuratively, walk thru walls to get the job done. It’s THIS army that brings an end to abortion in this country. That’s how I see it. Keep up the good work and never despise the day of small beginnings.

I wanted to comment, I have started a new job as youth director at a new parish this August, and I signed up our core leaders team and jr. core to join the campaign, one of my adults and her daughter showed up last week, in Ft. Wor,ath, she had no clue of any of the 40 days and planned parenthood activities, I talked to her a bit about it, and then we prayed the rosary, in a bit cold drizzling rain, 11am to noon. I could tell she and her daughter were very moved. I showed up again this Saturday, and her and her husband showed up this time, as she walked closer to where I was, and just accross from the clinic, her first words were” Wow, there is alot less cars than last week”, it was like as if she knew something had happened from last week to this week, less cars meant less abortions. We prayed the rosary, we followed the booklet, and left. Yesterday at our youth gathering for our core team she gave a little testimony, and we now have about 5 or 8 other youth and adults ready to join us next Saturday. God is so good, I know we have saved some lifes. Praise be to God!!!

I went to the St Paul Planned Parenthood today to offer up some time in prayer. I have been fasting since we began but was convicted to go pray. There was no one else there. The clinic is closed on Mondays; maybe that is why. At first I felt alone, but then knew that God was anointing the time with me. The staff was there, I saw several walk in and out. I ended up sitting on a curb facing the building; praying for all those workers, that God’s peace will fill them to bursting as they make decisions to begin promoting life. It ended up being a very holy hour and it was a great honor to be there.

This afternoon, my wife and I commemorated the anniversary of our daughter-in-law’s death by spending time praying in front of an abortion clinic in downtown Harrisburg, PA. (Our daughter-in-law had worked full-time in the pro-life movement for seven years prior to her death.) This was our first time to publicly participate in a 40 Days campaign. We do not know what impact we had upon those who saw us on that busy street, but we are assured that the Lord knows. Our son’s wife did not live to see abortion abolished in the U.S. within her lifetime, as was her passion, but we pray that her witness will motivate us and many others to work toward that end.

I’m a sidewalk counselor in Baltimore. Three of us came to pray at Planned Parenthood on Saturday. I was talking with a woman that was abortion minded. She left that day and didn’t have the abortion, but I was concerned she would come back. Monday I called and asked a friend that was off if he would come and pray with me at first he said yes, but said he thinks he’ll just stick with Saturdays. I was determined that God wanted prayers at the clinic. I walked down town and went to mass at a near by Catholic Church. I knew we aren’t suppose to go without a buddy so I stayed across the street near the bus stop. I started to pray and a car pulled up. The couple did not get out of the car, but drove away. A few minutes later two girls were standing ouside the clinic smoking and walked back inside. Another car pulled up sat there for several minutes and also pulled away without going in the clinic. I knelt down and kept praying and on of the girls I had just saw standing out side left the clinic. It’s very humbling and powerful witness of the power of prayer. With God all things are possible. Three woman left in just the short time I prayed all for the Glory and Honor of God. Over the last few years I witness so many woman walking away by the power of God through prayer. Thank you God! To all you who come out and pray thank you and never give up. God plus Love equals Life!

Our Ramona, CA group met many faith-filled people @ Miramar California location. It was an awesome day for prayer.
•My husband & I met an inspiring young mother with 5 little kids (7 and under) standing in prayer. The children said the rosary and knew all the mysteries.
•Lynn & John met a pilot from Toledo Ohio who on computer sought out a spot to pray with others and rode his bicycle all the way from Point Loma and spent 2 hrs praying continually the rosary. What an inspiration Joe was. There was another young man, must have been on lunch time, white shirt & slacks and prayed about 45 minutes then trotted back to his car and assume back to work. Very inspiring 2 1/2 hrs. to our team.
•Two from our group met two ladies who were there when we arrived from St. Mary’s and another 3 came for an hour from St. Sophia, Blessed Sacrament and Little Flower Haven. Along came a passerby and for one decade only: the man joined us….we think he may have seen us and was inspired by the Holy Spirit to pray.

When I was reading this post, my 11 year old son walked by as I was looking at the picture of the pastor holding the sign, “Pray to End Abortion.” My son said, “Hey Mom, I saw the sign, and you know what? I just did.” We pray 3 times a day for an end of abortion and for all the Momma’s having babies, that they would make the right choice.
Blessings, J
