DAY 27: 341 lives saved so far

October 21st, 2012 by admin

With two weeks to go in this 40 Days for Life campaign, we are so far aware of 341 babies saved from abortion! Here are just a few of their stories.

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE

There was a long line waiting to get into the abortion center. As one of the young women waited, she could hear the sung prayer of the 40 Days for Life vigil participants. She said that the song stuck in her head.

When she got inside and talked with the staff, she asked for an ultrasound. Once she saw the baby, she realized she simply couldn’t go through with the abortion.

After she walked out, she spoke to vigil participants. “She said she really never wanted to see the place again,” said Julie, one of the volunteers. “I don’t blame her! Thank you to all of you for your continued presence at Planned Parenthood. A life was saved today!”

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA

Ken says the 40 Days for Life vigil in Las Vegas is taking place outside the busiest late-term abortion facility in Nevada.

Prayer volunteers watched as a young couple parked their car, got out … and walked right past them. “The woman appeared determined to carry through with her scheduled abortion,” Ken said, “but the father of the child entered the building in tears.”

On their way into the building, however, they did stop to take information about the pregnancy help center just down the street.

They were not inside long. Minutes later, they walked out of the abortion facility — and straight into the pregnancy help center for an ultrasound and life-affirming counseling.

“We heard a short while later,” Ken said, “that they are definitely keeping their baby!”

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA

Mary in New Orleans reports two lives were saved during the 40 Days for Life vigil.

One woman spoke with a counselor outside the abortion facility and decided to go to a pro-life pregnancy help center instead. “She confirmed afterwards that she was keeping her child, now that she had found support and resources.”

A second woman walked up to vigil participants to thank them for their witness. She said that a few days earlier, she was driving to the facility to have an abortion. She prayed for a sign to convince her not to go through with it. When she saw the 40 Days for Life prayer team on the sidewalk, she recognized the sign she had prayed for.

“This is a small glimpse of the impact that your prayer and sacrifice are having,” Mary said. “Remember that these are the two that we know of. There are most likely more.”

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND
—————————————————–

A first-time 40 Days for Life participant was praying on the sidewalk when she noticed a young man standing outside the abortion center’s entrance, waiting for the woman who arrived with him. He walked over to the prayer volunteer and asked, “How can you help me?”

She quickly mentioned all of the assistance available locally as he listened intently. He walked back to the building — and soon left with the woman who had gone inside. She would not be having the abortion!

“Many times babies are saved and we are unaware,” said Marci in Baltimore. “What a blessing to be made aware of the fruits of our labors!”

  1. Joe Chatlos Says:

Columbus, Ohio, is the site of my first 40 Days for Life vigil. As a Knight of Columbus, I helped meet our church’s request the Knights cover the nighttime hours of our 24-hour vigil, and prayed from 4 to 5 a.m. outside a known abortion clinic. All windows of the building are covered with boards for unknown reasons. As I prayed for the doctor, the women who come there thinking they have no choice, I thought of my own son (15 months old) and all the tender moments my wife and I have shared with him, and how many mothers and fathers have missed these moments!
My wife and I had taken a pregnancy test a week earlier, which registered negative. However, we took another after my prayer session, and it was positive! We pray for a conversion of hearts so all can know the powerful miracle it is to experience overwhelming joy knowing God has entrusted you with one of His little ones!

  2. Carol Marie Says:

Praise God for each and every child who is saved, and the parents who are spared the pain of loss and remorse! We are looking forward to a large Interfaith Pro-Life Rally and Procession next Sunday at which well have a number of speakers share their experiences with abortion, both those who went through with an abortion and now regret their “choice” and those who went against the pressure they were under and refused to have an abortion.

One of our speakers is a woman who was raped and was told by several, including her own mother, that she should have an abortion. Her sons are now in their 40’s and she is glad she is not living with the regret of an abortion, but rather gave them life and raised her sons with her other children.

Another theme that has been recurring during this campaign are the young people who are survivors of a parent wanting to have them aborted, typically the father pressuring their mother to abort. This story was told by a father who very much regrets having nearly talked his ex-wife into aborting their lovely daughter who sang at our Kick-off event. We met a young man when promoting 40 Days for Life at a Homeless Awareness Event whose father wanted him to be aborted, and at our Youth for Life Rally on Saturday, a young woman walked past us on the sidewalk to said that what we were doing was “really cool”. She then shared that her father had tried to have her aborted.

The number of children / young adults who are suffering in the knowledge that they narrowly escaped being killed – wow! America, wake up!

I grew up pro-life and went to the March For Life many times but it wasn’t until I was doing post-doc work in Newark DE that it really struck me why I was pro-life. At the urging of other pro-lifers I finally ventured from the right to life meeting room to the sidewalk outside the abortion facility in Wilmington DE. I stared at a couple as they walked along the sidewalk, up a few steps and into the abortionist’s office. And all I could think was “that baby isn’t coming out alive.” Suddenly the stats about 4000 babies a day being aborted didn’t mean so much – it was that one baby who mattered. I needed no more convincing — it’s been more than 20 years since that day in Wilmington and I’ve been a pro-life street activist ever since.

  4. Dolores Eitel Says:

Thank you so much for your publication that describes the miracles that God is performing through the lives if His people. As a nurse who performs ultrasounds at The Shirley Grace Pregnancy Center in Berlin, Md., I am humbled as I read the testimonies of the faithful and weep with joy because God is faithful when we are obedient. Gratefully, Dolores Eitel

  5. Jane Leadon Says:

Hi there, Being from Northern Ireland I am a prayer warrior for you all at the 40 days for life for a few years now. In Northern Ireland we are currently blessed that our laws still protect the child within the womb. I have been a prayer warrior at home praying for an end to abortion, as there was no local abortion centres. Until last week however when Marie Stopes International (our UK equivalent to Planned Parenthood) has opened a private ‘clinic’ in Belfast. As they are breaking the law to change the law here I found myself along with about 200-300 others on their opening day last Thursday praying that they would shut up shop and go away again. Please pray for us all in Northern Ireland as we battle the horror of abortion which has landed on our doorstep.

    Yours in Christ

    Jane

  6. Dorie Erickson Says:

Dear Friends of the Unborn Americans and UK Citizens,

I cannot go to a site to pray, but every day I get your e-malils and I pray with tears streaming down my face to save the lives of the Unborn, to protect the prayer warriors, to convict those abortionists of the sin of murder, to close the abortion clinics and to save America from this horrendous curse on our nation.
I believe it is one of the major reasons God has turned our economy upside down.
    Love in Christ,
    Dorie Erickson

  7. Kasandra Says:

As we were praying the Rosary on the sidewalk, a young woman drove into the Planned Parenthood clinic in Little Rock Arkansas. A couple of minutes later she came out and drove into the Pregnancy Resource center across street. She sat in her car for several minutes, then got out and went inside the pregnancy center.

She did not speak with any of us, but I trust that God spoke to her heart and led her to seek help for herself and her baby.

  8. Robert Says:

Re: Ken’s story of the baby just saved in Las Vegas. I can see this child having a blast playing soccer some years from now but can’t help think of how close they came to being eliminated if it weren’t for your presence. Thank you.

  9. Dave Mattozzi Says:

Let us all pray for a pro life culture in the world. God Bless!

  10. Kim Says:

I just wanted to share that a young woman with two boys who was feeling overwhelmed about 5 months ago went through with her abortion and I was devastated as I had been working with her to get
WIC and shelter and was hoping to take her to a local pregnancy center to learn more about Kimberly House in Clearwater, FL where women considering adoption are given free shelter. Unfortunately she went through with the abortion due to pressure from the boyfriend & mom. However today I got to sit with her at that very pregnancy center that I had hoped to bring her to previously! She is 8 weeks pregnant and thanks to the report on-line of the poor woman who died at a Chicago Planned Parenthood, and I’m convinced all of the prayer support she is choosing life, everyday now so please still keep praying!

  11. Teresa Ambrus Says:

In Newark, Ohio (Licking County), we don’t have an abortion mill (Praise God!!). But we do hold a prayer vigil every spring and fall, since fall 2009. We have a non-denominational gathering, with a rosary rally then prayer led by various church leaders in the area. We pray for the unborn and those who are in need of healing from the hurt of abortion, and that eyes will be opened to the evil and hearts will be changed by our Father. Some of us pray in Columbus, the closest 40 Days for Life site, where we can feel the evil radiating from that building, but the presence of Jesus beside us as we pray. Thank you for sharing the wonderful (and even the not so wonderful) stories. Our church announces the number of babies saved each Sunday throughout the 40 Days to a round of applause as we praise Him!

  12. Jody Says:

Thank the Lord for these two fathers in today’s blog! These two men in Las Vegas and Baltimore are brave to stand up for what is right. May more men rise up to defend their children.

Lord, bless the fathers of children who are in jeopardy of having their lives ended by abortion. May these men have your ABBA FATHER HEART OF LOVE for their children! May they gently yet firmly speak truth to their girlfriend/wife and stand in the gap for their children’s lives. And work through the grandfathers, uncles, etc., of these little children that lives may be spared. May you be GLORIFIED, Lord. And please raise up someone to head up a 40 Days for Life campaign in Gilroy, CA.

  13. Christopher Says:

God bless you all for your wonderful efforts!

  14. Trina Hingtgen Says:

    Dubuque, Iowa

Rain does not bother me but when the lightening started this morning I decided we would put our prayers in front of the clinic (planned parenthood) on hold and wait until the weather improved to gather in front of the clinic again. I drove over to the clinic to tell everyone to pack up until the lightening stopped but the prayer warriors instead said to me, “I can’t think of a better place to be if God wants to take me!!” Praise God! They had umbrellas, but they were soaked and despite that, they had great big smiles on their faces – that kind of love only comes from having God in your life. Thank you!

As if that wasn’t enough, a short time later one of those soaking wet prayer warriors stopped by the office (Dubuque County Right to Life) to drop off a donation – some of the proceeds from her garage sale this weekend! Pro-lifers truly are the best!!

Then I received an e-mail from one of the warriors we had called to say we weren’t going out in the lightening storm and she said, “Thanks for your concern, but by the time I got to PPH at about 10:45 the lightning was over and it was mild sprinkling. It was a very pleasing experience.”

The prayer at the clinic has been such a great blessing, not just on those going into the clinic, but also to those on the “front line” and those passing by us on the street. We are so greatful to have this wonderful event in our city and by God’s grace, we are praying for the clinic to close quickly.

God’s blessings on all those around the world participating in this God-driven campaign.

    Trina

  15. MOS was 71331 Says:

Check out the documentary on NetFlix “Unborn in the USA: Inside the War on Abortion.” It shows how Pro-Life religious opponents of abortion are presenting the real physical consequences of abortion to people who consider abortion to be merely an abstraction. It also shows how Pro-Life clinics can be located near abortionists’ offices to provide an easily available alternative to pregnant women tempted to have their unborn babies killed. (A fellow at one of those Pro-Life clinics claims that most of the pregnant women who come into the clinic decide to have their babies.)
