DAY 1: Another abortion center CLOSES!

February 13th, 2013 by admin

Last night, I spoke at a kickoff event near Houston, and David Bereit, our national director, spoke at an opening rally in Fairfax, Virginia.

Those are just two of the 261 locations that start 40 Days for Life campaigns TODAY … at a time when many Christians are entering the season of Lent to prepare their hearts for the celebration of Christ’s Resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Just recently, I told you about Lima, Ohio … where the abortion center, where faithful volunteers had intended to peacefully pray for 40 days, had CLOSED and gone out of business.

Well, we just confirmed that it happened AGAIN!!!

This time, prayer volunteers in Greensboro, North Carolina were getting ready for their second peaceful vigil outside the Woman’s Choice abortion facility. But now, those plans have changed.

This abortion center has also SHUT ITS DOORS and is not relocating!

“All glory to God!” said one of those volunteers. “All the furniture is gone,” she said. “They left like a thief in the night.”

This now makes TWENTY-EIGHT abortion centers where 40 Days for Life vigils have taken place that are now totally shut down.

There’s a second abortion facility in Greensboro, so the local 40 Days for Life team is quickly making plans to move their peaceful vigil to the public right of way outside that business.

“All praise and thanks to Christ our King for this great gift,” the Greensboro team announced. “Come and pray with us at our new location!”

If you’ve not taken part in 40 Days for Life before, I hope this shows what can happen when you put your trust in God and step forward in faith.

Find the 40 Days for Life campaign nearest you.

Look for your nearest location, click on that city’s name, and then sign up to get involved however you can.

I’d like to invite you to join the journey — and look forward to seeing what additional blessings God has in store!

Here’s the link to today’s devotional.

  1. Debbie Says:

Today is my daughter’s 27th birthday. She is alive today because I chose life for her. As a 19 year old college student I made a bad choice to have unprotected relations with an older man, but thankfully God filled my heart when the offer of abortion was on the table. He wanted nothing to do with an unplanned pregnancy and I was alone to make my choice. I am so grateful to God for giving me the wisdom to make the hard choice to give my daughter up for adoption. It was so hard to live without her but I can’t even fathom what it would have been like had I aborted her.
I went to her wedding in 2010….I visited her in Canada in 2012… we are communicating and building a relationship that has blossomed. She is alive and thriving today because I chose life….praise God! In her honor, on her birthday, I am going to sign up to pray at the largest abortion center in Houston. I would love to save just one child and to keep one woman from suffering from her choice. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve God and his most precious children. Debbie

  2. Sharon Ann Weidelman Says:

Last night we had our candlelight vigil in front of Planned Parenthood Springfield Missouri, and it was very cold and windy but I remained warm inside knowing that we are seeing abortion clinics close down every week and that is such a positive light. Maybe we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of death.

  3. Alan Says:

My invilvement is to begin my daily devotional by reading the 40 days for life daily devotional and prayer. I then will read the day’s chapter in the book “40 Days for Life”. My day will be deprived of sweets ( i have never followed through on a food fast) and moderate volume of food. this departure from my physical cravings will allow me to be more spiritually focused on god and make my supplications more earnest. After work ( i will atempt to gt into work earlier and leave work earlier) visit the abortion center sidewalks with my homemade sign and prayerfully walk up and down the sidewalk waving at the cars as they pass by. the abortion center will be closed for the day at that time but the message of life can go out to those driving by. Many smile, wave or honk their horn. Some give me gestures, but those i lift up to the Lord for mercy and grace to find Jesus as theier Savior.

I think this is my fourth 40 Days for Life.

Thank God, there is no abortion center in the city I live near, so I will pray the Rosary for Life every day during Lent. I may not be out in front of an abortion facility, but God still hears and moves hearts to end this atrocity to humanity.

I wish you all a blessed Lent, and may peace be with you.

  19. Abraham A Says:

Spirit groans within me! Tears come as I read your book! Awesome power of GOD is so compelling! Compelling Agape of GOD is manifested through Holy Spirit leading people to pray at these PP facilities!
Noon today our weekly prayer group will hear about this 28th closing of an abortion center. Folks will be invited to come with me to pray at PP in Fayetteville, Arkansas. That is an hour away, it seems best to take a car load instead of going alone.
Praise GOD for every manifestation of HIS AGAPE!

to me by our previous pastor that he wore in 1973 when abortion was made
    legal.

Also, a suggestion for another way to help is to contribute to Pregnancy Care

God bless you for all you do for RTL.

Right now, I will pray three Hail Marys for the witness of the 40 Days for Life in our nation and Culture and I ask those of you who wish to do so, to pray three Hail Marys as well. Miracles can and will happen as grace pours out on our nation.

  27. Victor Says:

Last year, I prayed twice in front of Women’s Choice in Raleigh, NC. At the time my baby daughter was pregnant with my first grandchild, so it had quite an impact on us.

This year there is no 40 Days for Life prayer vigil in Raleigh so I am going to pray in front of the Planned Parenthood facility in nearby Chapel Hill, NC, when I can. My oldest daughter, who was with me once in Raleigh, plans to be there when she can. She is now pregnant with my second granddaughter.

Today I prayed for the unborn at home while watching my granddaughter, saddened that anyone could murder an innocent, helpless, voiceless unborn child. I prayed out loud, as I believe that will have an impact on my granddaughter though she is only 9 months old.

Also, I have already read a few chapters of the 40 Days for Life book today, as I have been doing every day. I read some heartbreaking things and I wept. It is awesome to hear that Women’s Choice in Greensboro, NC has closed. I wonder if they were related to the one in Raleigh as I have prayed and still pray for that one to close.

I am reading the daily devotionals and praying daily for the unborn during this campaign, as well as fasting some things like computer time to have more time to pray and focus on our mission to rescue the unborn and their families.

Tonight I preach for the Ash Wednesday service at our church, and I plan to mention 40 Days for Life. The sermon is on almsgiving, praying and fasting, from Matthew 6. I will be giving alms to 40 Days for Life as well as fasting and praying.

  28. Janet Stephan Says:

My prayers will be with all the volunteers this campaign. I will be starting my day with the prayer intentions that come my way each day from the 40 Days for Life email notices. I thank God for what He is doing with the steadfastness of the volunteers.

  29. Darla Basamania Says:

I usually participate in prayer and fasting, there are no sites near me ( at least 3 hr drive) My Legion of Mary Praesidium participates in prayer.

  30. Eva Cestari Says:

I plan to pray at specified sign-up times at a Women’s Center in Bridgeport, Ct., and to support a new pregnancy center in New Haven. (I recently attended a baby shower for a young woman who changed her mind about aborting her baby.) I have ordered more of the books “40 Days For Life” to give to others. I am writing letters (again!) to my state Senators and the Congresswoman from my district, asking them to take a new look at the abortion issue, based on the fact that abortion now has evolved to include third- trimester abortion as well as wrong-sex abortions. I am also fasting, and praying for an hour each time during Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, which occurs four days a week in my parish.

  31. Paul Lucas Says:

Got pelted with eggs, a plastic container of cream(?) and some abuse from a passing vehicle while praying with our group last night (Ash Wednesday) outside the Dr Marie Stopes abortion clinic (Reproductive Health-care Provider it says on their sign) in Brisbane, Australia. Praise God! Look forward to going back again for our 2 hour prayer session next Wednesday. We drive down to Brisbane each week from Toowoomba as our small contribution to the 40 Days For Life campaign.
St. Michael the Archangel, please intercede for us.

  32. Dennis Powell Says:

Here in the Palm Springs area of S California there is no official 40 Days coordination. I was heartened to find out as I reached one abortion facility in Rancho Mirage today that Catholic brethren from Sacred Heart Church in Palm Desert had been peacefully praying at the site on Wednesdays and Fridays for years! (Thank God for their for being awake while many of the rest of us have been asleep.) It was wonderful to know we have the nucleus of a fall campaign right here! Also, my own evangelical Desert Springs Church may be stepping up to help fill in the prayer schedule before this campaign is over. I am praying about applying to coordinate the fall campaign for the Coachella Valley area. Blessings to all of you, and let’s just see what God wants to do!!!

  33. David and Marilyn Rowsome Says:

This is the first time we have been involved in a 40 Days for Life campaign here in Brisbane Australia. We are using the 40 Days Devotional we received from 40 Days for Life Brisbane as well as the 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting devotionals from http://www.40daysofprayer.com.au. Great materials. Thanks. We look forward to the rest of the days.

  37. Esther R.Davis Says:

I have participated in the last 2 years of 40 Days For Life at our local Cincinnati Planned Parenthood center. This year I will not be able to attend because of poor health at age 82. But, I am not short on prayers, and so every day my Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Rosary that I say will be offered for the closing of more abortion centers during this recent campaign, especially the one in Cincinnati. I also pass one of the PP offices near where I live, and every time i go by I pray a Hail Mary for its closing. We must continue to keep our eyes on the goal of ending abortion, and in God’s time it will happen. His Blessings to all participating again this year, and the ones who are for the first time. (Esther)

  38. Maria Says:

May ever more children be saved during this campaign!

God Bless and may we all pray and fast for an end to abortion!

  39. Janice from Detroit Says:

logging into email daily, random “acts of kindness” in the Spirit of St. Therese of Lisieux, maybe sometime in Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament as an Intercessor, possible surprise appearance at location {Abortion Clinic(s)} in the five county area of greater Detroit, may be sharing home with High School girls from Regina Dominican as part of their potential participation in Pro-Life Conference in Ann Arbor, MI! @@Please pray for this conference, it sounds excellent. It is planned for Catholics who are high school and “college aged”. Please, also, pray for the three Keynote Speakers. @@@Asking in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

  40. David Blair Says:

I will follow the daily progress made during and by the 40 Days For Life vigil in saving the unborn from abortion and in turning to repentance those who are threatening them with death.

Some parishioners pray outside PP in Mankato.
Midwest wind chills might reach 35 below;that has not held them back, may our prayers, warm the spirits of all participants in clinic prayer vigils and warm the hearts of all PP employees, and clients to recognize the precious life of God’s little ones.

  42. Chelsea Smith Says:

It’s a relief that another abortion clinic closes. This is a very good pro-life program. Thanks for the volunteers and the tireless people behind this advocacy.
