DAY 16: Three babies saved in one day

February 28th, 2013 by admin

When you peacefully pray outside an abortion center … your presence there matters.

When we pray at the 40 Days for Life vigil, we all yearn to be there when a baby is saved from abortion. Sometimes, we get to see it happen. On occasion, two babies are saved in one day. In one local campaign, though … THREE babies were saved recently on the same day!

It’s just a reminder that God can work through us … in what can, at times, feel like a hopeless effort.

“We had never had three babies saved in one day!” said Rachael in Columbus. “Praise the Lord!”

The first took place when a woman pulled in right next to where one of the prayer volunteers was standing. It didn’t take long for her to show the woman that there were far better options for both her and her baby.

A bit later, a volunteer noticed a woman sitting alone in a red SUV. The woman explained she was waiting for her sister, who was in for an abortion. And she herself was a single mom – pregnant and considering abortion.

The volunteers prayed. The woman in the truck never went into the building – and her sister came out. She didn’t have the abortion.

Later, a man told prayer volunteers he was there with his ex-wife, who was pregnant with another man’s child. Abortion was a possibility – but he admitted that she might consider adoption.

The volunteers directed him to a local group that could help. So he went into the abortion center and came out with his ex-wife. No abortion!

“Thursday is the only day they do abortions here in Fort Wayne,” said Evelyn, “but the customers come in for counseling on Mondays and Tuesdays as well, so we have worked hard to get an even larger presence on those days.”

The Fort Wayne team has a tent where people can gather to pray. Just recently, students from a local school arrived by bus to join the vigil.

“Despite the cold they bundled up and prayed at the site and their presence was a wonderful reminder of the youth that are stepping up to try and end this blight of our time,” Evelyn said.

The group has a display of crosses that represent the number of abortions for each day. “We have been told that some of the cars driving by who cannot stop often look to see how many crosses are out and say a prayer,” she said. “Thanks for all you do and keep up the good work!”

Lisa in Tempe recalled the scripture verse, “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you” (James 4:8).

“The last two days on the sidewalk have done exactly that,” she said. Two churches took full days at the vigil and three different ministries each took multiple hours.

“We have seen people reach out for information, ask questions and request prayers,” she said. “We praise and glorify God for sending these prayer warriors to be the light to those in darkness.”

Lisa is thankful for “all who felt the call to stand witness and … show the love and passion so many have for our unborn sisters, brothers and their parents. Continue to pray for all involved in the abortion industry.”

    Dear Shawn,
Have been following the 40 Days for Life prayers, miracles, and victories via e-mails which I receive. I currently am a supporter of “Save One” life ministries, with founder Sheila Harper from Nashville Tennessee. I wish to share a this post, this thought, with you.
I was a teenager during the era of Roe vs Wade ruling back in the seventies. I suppose you could reconcile me as being one of the “first” and “original” pro-life protesters during that time. The Catholic Church, which I was a member, did not conform to the threats of political liberalism, because strength of our “First Amendment” rights had not been filtered into a governing dictatorship as it is today and because “Divine Providence and Sovereignity” of the church did not succumb to political power or pressures. Times have indeed changed, but the root of battle remains as it was during the early days. What has changed are the weapons which, because of advanced technology, advanced corruption, and advanced spiritual warfare plagueing, demoralizing, dehumanizing, and destroying all conscience of humanity, have conceded the battle into nuclear size destructive force. God, however, has not nor will change, no matter how powerful the human nature of battle becomes. He is just and righteous. His protection was, is and always will be.
It has been 40 years since Roe vs Wade, and I wonder if people realize we are at the half-way mark of seeing an ENTIRE GENERATION, that has been wiped out, murdered and non-existant! A generation according to the bible is about 70 years! An entire generation of God’s people….WIPED OUT! Why? Because the law of the land has classified a baby in the womb as a “Venereal Disease” conquered and cured by an antidote called abortion. Pregnancy has been DECLASSIFIED from DIVINITY, and is nothing more then a prosodemic venereal disease, which demands life-style over the sanctity of human life, and for which there is only one solution called death.
We have become a “fatherless” society which has sold it’s birth-rights to the “father of lies”…We have become a Nation, under a leadership that is selling our “Adoption papers” from God, to the highest bidder, which we know as Satan. This is why it is vital that we, as soldiers of Christ; we as sojourners of truth, STAND in Ephesians 6 armor, with endurance, determination, and perpetual prayer…For we know the principalites are not with flesh, but with spirit. Amen.

My husband and I pray in front of a Planned Parenthood facility in Newburg, N.Y….where could we find info of CHRISTIAN facilities in that area, to refer potential mothers to…also where do we find literature? Can we make our own placards? Thank you for all that you do for our unborn babies..Lois & Bill Duquette

  3. Susan Schneider Says:

Hi Lisa, We all miss you so much in Fort Collins! What a beautiful group of folks you have at Tempe, Arizona! Just emanating the love of God. And so green there! God bless you my precious Sister!

  5. Marie O'Brien Says:

This Tuesday a friend of mine and I went to Planned Parenthood in Commonwealth Ave. Boston, MA. We prayed 4 rosaries. Bill Cotter, from Operation Rescue, who has been saving babies for over 20 years told me there was a save. A couple told another volunteer that decided not to abort. He said it was the first time for a long time. MA is a bit liberal as you probably know so it was great news.

To all 40 Dayers: This quote needs no qualifiers, no explanations. Credit a dear brother of earlier times, CT Studd (1860-1931). Two quotes: “Only one life, ’twill soon be past. Only what’s done for Christ will last.” And now the one that I believe best describes 40 Days for Life:

“SOME WANT TO LIVE WITHIN THE SOUND OF CHURCH OR CHAPEL BELL.
I WANT TO RUN A RESCUE SHOP WITHIN A YARD OF HELL.”

  7. Maureen Sullivan Says:

For Lois and William Duquette——-You might try this website for a Crisis Pregnancy Center=—–I googled Newburg NY Christian crisis pregnancy centers and I got this link.

  8. Ruth Hilbert Says:

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.”–God

This is the message on one of our 40 Days For Life signs. I pray at 8 AM, just when the school buses filled with elementary students go by, so when they stop at the traffic light I hold the sign up and smile so the children can see the message. Today I noticed a young boy taking a picture of the sign with his phone. I pray that he will read that message over and over and know that he is known and loved.
