DAY 1: Discover what God can do!

September 25th, 2013 by admin

40 Days for Life has officially begun in 306 cities across America and around the globe!

I just spoke at a 40 Days for Life kickoff event in California, David Bereit, our national director, helped get things started in Birmingham, Alabama, Steve Karlen, our North American outreach director spoke at the Dallas, Texas kickoff event, and Robert Colquhoun, our international outreach director, is launching campaigns in London.

To celebrate the launch of this campaign, here’s a BRAND-NEW short video that shows what God is accomplishing through 40 Days for Life — and how YOU can make a lifesaving impact over these 40 days.

In this short video, you’ll meet people whose lives are forever changed … because of faithful, prayerful volunteers … during 40 Days for Life.

In the video, you’ll meet people whose lives have been forever changed … thanks to faithful 40 Days for Life volunteers.

You’ll hear from former Planned Parenthood managers — and a woman who chose life for her baby, simply because people were outside the abortion center praying for her … and her child.

Please share this video with everyone you know … so they can discover what 40 Days for Life is all about — and so they can join you in this worldwide movement to end the injustice of abortion!

When I really think about it ,these children are not our children, they belong to Jesus. What right do we have to take them from him. He is the Creator, and every child that dies is a scar on his heart. I pray that this effort will produce real results. Let us teach that we need these little ones to love as Jesus loves us.

  2. elaine degrandis Says:

Thank you for all you do!!
I remember when Shawn Carney came to Boston, MA and prayed with us at the Planned Parenthood on Commonwealth Ave. and then went to the Carmelite Monastery in Brighton. That night there were maybe 10 of us and last night in Medway, MA there were over 100 of us at a Mass and Commissioning Service with Rita Russo as Leader and 3 Priests: Father Dermont S. Roache, SMA and Father Michael McNamara, who was at that Brighton Event a few years back. Look how we have grown!!

Still growing and thank you for all you are doing!!!

Blessings and happy fasting!!! Onward Soldiers for Life!!!

Let us pray that this 40 Days for Life campaign brings even more prayer warriors out to the the planned parent clinics, especially our young people. God bless and touch the hearts of all His children even more today and forever!

  4. Barbara Gutzwiller Says:

Thanks for putting together this informative video to start another 40 days of prayer and fasting for life.

  5. Bridget Says:

I am a part of the 40 days for Life in Minneapolis, MN. The video you have developed is wonderful!!! I am so grateful to the leaders David Bereit and Shawn Carney for their efforts to close these centers of death. I firmly believe that the only way abortion will end in our Country is by prayer and fasting, and it is such a wonderful thing to witness Gods response to both! May God bless this next 40 days and save lots of babies, and close many abortion mills. May God abolish abortion in our world! AMEN!

  6. Anna Says:

I am praising God this morning for 40daysforlife and giving thanks for David Bereit and Shawn Carney for their Godly leadership. I am one of the post abortive women whose life has been forever changed because of your faithfulness to God’s calling on your lives.

When I became involved with “40DaysforLife”, I was at the end of my coping abilities and did not know where to turn for help. Out of hopeless desperation in 2007 I began to search on line for help with my abortion issues. I thought I could do this at home where it would be safe. I had no plans of ever going public with my story and certainly not praying in public, but God had other plans for me.

Things began to happen very quickly after my first 40 day prayer vigil. As God began to change my heart, my mental, physical, and emotional health began to improve. As I remained faithful to reading God’s word and prayer my spiritual awareness of the nearness of God became stronger as I realized that He had not forsaken me. I had turned my back on Him.

Through my connection with 40DaysforLife I was led to other abortion healing ministries and eventually I was inspired to create my own Arms of Grace, Abortion Recovery Ministry on line.
God continues to heal my hurt and peal away the layers of pain in my life. In these last few years He has begun to slowly heal my family relationships.

We do not always see what God is doing as a result of our prayers, but be encouraged today and know beyond any doubt that your prayers are making a difference. You have made a difference in my life. God has used you to help me find the truth of the miracle of life, and where I fit into His plan. He does hear and answer prayer that is in accordance with His word. That truth has set me free and it will set others free also.
For me there can be no turning back until every child in our nation once again has the right to life.

May God continue to bless and protect all of us participating in this vigil for the unborn as we see lives saved and changed forever. I pray the 2013 will be the year that legal abortion ends and a great healing process begins in our nation for those that have been wounded by this evil.

That little video is such a beautiful tribute not only to life itself, but also to all the tremendous work God has done and is continuing to do in the effort to insure that all human life is respected and recognized as precious. What a beautiful kick-off to the 40 Days for Life fall campaign. Wonderful things are ahead! God bless us all!

Can this be posted to Facebook? Would love to spread the message!

  9. Sue Turner Says:

We SO ENJOYED & APPRECIATED David’s visit with us in Birmingham last night!! Again as in the Spring, it was raining before the Candlelight Vigil, and STOPPED raining just before the Vigil began! We estimate 120-150 participants, with several Priests and ministers speaking — it was a very inspiring event! As usual, David gave a charged motivational talk, bringing tears to my eyes and hopefully getting MANY people to commit to weekly hours on the sidewalk at this Planned Parenthood site where 1342 babies lost their lives in 2012.
THANK YOU, David! And thanks to ALL who participated… FOR THEIR LIVES!

  10. Greta atkinson Says:

What are you suggesting (or modeling) for fasting? I imagine you are leaving it up to the individual, but what are others doing? God bless every soul involved.

  11. John Crotty Says:

Can this be posted on Facebook?

  12. Padre Van Says:

“Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

    Dear Fellow prayer volunteers,

I’m the former director of Woodbridge, NJ, 40daysforlife now living in Buffalo, NY. I decided to get up early this morning & be one of the first participants in the Fall 2013 Campaign. Much to my surprise there was a local medical doctor there praying on his knees before he went to work this morning. He told me he decided to “skip morning Mass” & pray at the vigil site first. I told him that I celebrate a “private Mass” each day in our “residence chapel” & that he could join me this afternoon for a “Holy Hour” before Mass, also.
I was very impressed with the organization of the Buffalo 40daysforlife vigil site. The site coordinator showed up bright & early to pray for us and another gentlemen left some pro-life material including a “sign-in sheet”. They have over 300 “prayer volunteers” already registered for the vigil.
I pray that your vigil site is progressing well, too.
A voice for the defenseless poor,
    Padre Van

  13. Brian C. Owens, PGK Says:

Among all the activities that I have participated in, currently participate in, and will participate in as a human being, a Christian, a Catholic, and a Knight of Columbus, none strikes me as being more important than actively supporting 40 Days for Life. Not everyone can participate in the prayer vigils we hold outside abortion centers, although that is the most-visible and most-effective of our efforts, but everyone can spend at least a little time in prayer and fasting to end the evil that is abortion.

Lives literally depend on all of us doing as much as we can, and the time to start is now.

  14. Dan Miller Says:

Mareza’s story brings me to tears every time she tells it. What if we hadn’t been out there for her? Her son would have been aborted. That shocks the conscience so deeply. God bless 40 Days for Life!

  15. Laura Says:

This is beautiful. I want to share this video on Facebook, but the way it’s embedded doesn’t have the share buttons appear. Could someone give us the link to the video so we can share it? Thank you!

The video is posted on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/40daysforlife … please feel free to share. Thanks!

I’ll be right there with you in Hackensack,NJ. We need 40DAYS FOR LIFE to keep getting the message of truth & love of Jesus to so many people. Mary

  18. Karen McCann Says:

Tried to watch this video for day 1, it got thru only about the first 17 seconds, then stopped. I tried over & over and same thing happened. Is this is glitch in my computer or is it on your end? I hope I can see it fully.
    Thanks! Karen McCann

  19. Mary Says:

God Bless You! I will be at the Downers Grove vigil, rosary in hand, praying to our Lord, and to the Blessed Mother for her intervention. God WILL triumph in the end. There WILL be an end to abortion. I pray I will see it in my lifetime.
God Bless each and every one of you who take part in this. You are planting the seeds.

  20. Rachel Says:

  21. Anna L. Johnson Says:

I am 87 Years old, and was a participant in the 2008 40 Days for life in Sarasota,Fl. due to my age and illness I have not been able to to be present again. However, every night at Nine P:M my alarm goes off and I stop whatever I am doing and say prayers to stop abortion. I am asking for any people of age ,or any age, to join me for prayer at 9 P:M each night in a Prayer for Life. Please use the prayer’s that you are familiar with. Just think what a powerful thing that could be if thousands of people throughout the World participated.

  22. kim o'callaghan Says:

thankyou for the persistance that has led to 40 days for life.
Sometimes it is a little scarey to stand outside the clinic as some people can be pretty offensive, but I will never forget when a Priest joined us and placed a pyx
w/ the Eucharist on the bricks of the clinic, I knew then that we were not alone.

  23. Esther Davis Says:

Dear Miss Anna, I am 83 and can no longer join others at our local Planned Parenthood center due to many illnesses. But I will join you at 9 PM to say a Prayer for Life to end abortion all over the world. There is always hope, and if we keep going, then someday we will win the good fight. God bless you.

  24. Kim Slowinski Says:

I loved this video and plan to share it. 27 years ago I found myself pregnant with a second unplanned pregnancy… 9 years after my first! I had no support & felt like no one would be understanding of the fact that I had been so foolishly irresponsible yet again. My thought was that abortion was my only option & I had scheduled an appointment at a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in another state so that no one would ever find out. But God is so immeasurably gracious! As I was driving into the clinic parking lot that hot August day, there was a woman standing on the corner quietly praying. My window was down, and as I turned in we made eye contact. She was bold enough to say, “If you are about to go inside to have an abortion and you are not absolutely sure about the decision you are making, would you come have a cup of coffee with me first?” I don’t know why I agreed… I don’t even drink coffee! But that woman (now a dear friend) offered me truth, gave me hope, showed me compassion, and ultimately saved my daughter’s life! For that I am eternally grateful. Keep up the work that you are doing! It truly does save lives!
