You can fast from food, TV, alcohol ... anything that separates you from God. 2. A unique approach to ending abortion
Persistent Prayer, Peaceful Protest, Prudent Presentations
We are Nancy Faller and Sandra Paveglio, Co-Chairs of 40 Days for Life Harrisburg. We are SO excited to have you join this groundbreaking campaign that is happening in 170+ cities across 45 states from February 25- April 5. With God's help, this could mark the beginning of the end of abortion!
Here in Harrisburg, our 40 Days for Life is made up of the following components: prayer, fasting, & alms giving for souls; vigil for bodies; and education for minds.
1.) PRAYER, FASTING, & ALMSGIVING
The classic penitential practices of prayer, fasting, and alms giving are inextricably linked. They are biblically linked; see Matthew 6:1-18. They are spiritually linked; sin ruptures our relationship with God, ourselves, and our neighbor; prayer repairs our relationship with God, fasting repairs our relationship with ourselves, and almsgiving repairs our relationship with our neighbor. We are inviting you and all believers to pray for an end to abortion, to fast as you feel led, and to give alms to your favorite pro-life charity. Our prayer is at the bottom of this email for you to print and pray.
2.) PEACEFUL VIGIL
The most visible component of our 40 Days for Life will be the 40-day prayer vigil outside the Hillcrest abortion clinic at 2709 N Front St, Harrisburg, PA 17110. This is a prayerful witness to the patients and employees of the abortion center, and to the entire community, that evil is in our midst and that - with God's help - it will be defeated. You can sign up on our website as soon as the schedule is posted. We will let you know when it is available.
3.) COMMUNITY OUTREACH
During 40 Days for Life, the pro-life message will be proactively taken to our entire community through a focused, grassroots educational effort.

But all too often the mother's womb, that should be a nursery of life, becomes instead a place of it's destruction. Help us to remove this evil and ensure respect for all life made in Your image and likeness, called to fulfill its promise on this earth, and destined to find a home with you for all eternity.
