Tonight (Sunday 11th Oct 09) I was praying on the west side of Bank St. opposite the Morgentaler clinic. At approximately 10.10 p.m. and white male, approximately 5’8” slim, English speaking, aged approximately 35 years riding a bicycle crossed the street to where I was. He went on to relate in the most vulgar language that the carrying of a sign, “Pray for an end to abortion” was forcing my opinion of the abortion issue on him. He advised he was sick of it. He went on to say in vulgar street language that God did not exist amongst other things. He was an angry, agitated reprobate. I tried to reason with him but that was not to be. He stood right up against me trying to goad me into a physical confrontation. I observed he had a U shaped bicycle lock in his right hand ready to strike. I stood my ground ready to take appropriate action should he strike, but he refrained from doing so. I walked away which made him all the more angry. He began to ride on his bicycle around and around all the while cursing and swearing at myself and the lady who was also present. He then rode north up the street and tossed over the sign which denoted there was a Morgentaler clinic across the street. That done it for me I could not stand idly by and see someone damage the Pro Life signs, so I went towards him, but he made off, but again began circling around. He threatened to return but did not specify if alone or with others. At this juncture I went to the call box and asked for police attendance. On seeing me taking positive steps to end the harassment, he disappeared west bound on Sparks Street. The incident lasted some five minutes. I left at 11.15 p.m. and he had not returned. Two persons were keeping the vigil when I left. Two police cars attended and patrolled the adjacent streets. I don’t really know if the male had serious issues pertaining to abortion or just a hatred of God and decent living in general. I feel proud and privileged to be given the opportunity by God to be a witness for him in the fight to end abortion. I will not be cowed.
