I stopped by Ground Zero at around 10 am to see what was going on. I saw G all by himself praying quietly. I chatted with him a bit. I asked if it was okay to take a picture. He agreed. He thought it would be a good idea to stand next to the "Pray to End Abortion" sign. In the background was the entrance to the clinic, so I thought it made a good shot. When I finished, the security guard jumped out of the doorway, like I had done something wrong. He began to take notes. I thought it was rather ludicrous.
I also took a picture of a trio of men in the "Rosary Group". They walk up and down the street on the same side as the clinic with their protest signs. They're not officially part of the 40 Days vigil.
I walked around the block with my daughter in her stroller so that she wouldn't fuss. I came back and another lady had replaced G. I saw a couple in the corner of my eye. It's hard to know for sure what people are thinking, but from across the street it looked like the girl did not look sure of her decision and she was talking to her boyfriend. After a while they went back into the clinic. You can never really be sure what she decided. But she sure didn't look happy.

Yesterday afternoon, Paul L. had some free time and dropped by to do an hour at the Vigil site. He was replaced by a teacher from Immaculata High School who came after class to pray accompanied by two of her students. Last week Tom R was praying when Fr. L (formerly with St. Patrick’s Basilica and now Pastor of Holy Name of Mary in Almonte) came by to Ground Zero. A few weeks ago, Paul C. was at the site in the afternoon following a meeting when three young Franciscan friars and two priests (all from Saint-François-d'Assise Parish in Ottawa) came to accompany him in prayer for over an hour. I was doing his hourly Vigil on a Thursday morning and a missionary from Madonna House in Combermere. All this shows that you never know who will come to grace your company and uplift your spirits at the Vigil site…. So if you have some free time, come on down - Stan.
