Dear John: Thank you for the reports you give. Since I cannot be on
the front lines because of where I live, getting reports from the US
and you are a big encouragement to me to keep on praying etc. I'm
feeling discouraged because no matter who I pass on the good news of
40 days for life to in my parish no one seems to get too excited. I
e-mail reports (some) to my parish priest but even he doesn't reply.
So thank you , thank you and God bless. I'm sure there must be other
people out there like me. God bless you and every front line pro-life

**The* Mid-Point Rally Tuesday October 13th* will start at Ground Zero (across from the abortion facility at 65 Bank Street) at 6:00 pm featuring some great speakers. This will be followed by a procession to St. Patrick's Basilica for a Special Mass presided by his Grace, Archbishop Prendergast at 7:00 pm. Priests, Deacons, Choirs and Knights of Columbus from other parishes parishes are invited to take part in this exceptional liturgy. Priests and Deacons please advise St Patrick's (613-233-1125). 2) Special Greetings from Bishop Reynald Rouleau from the Diocese of Churchill-Hudson Bay:

Bishop Rouleau has asked me to send a message of encouragement to all of you to persevere in your prayers during this 40 Days for Life campaign. Some of you will recall in our first 40 Days for Life Fall campaign, Bishop Reynald was passing through Ottawa and I brought him to witness and pray with us at 65 Sparks. Bishop Reynald has said that he will never forget this experience that brought him to tears of sorrow for the lives lost at the abortuary and to the great courage and faith of those who stood in silent vigil praying for the lost children as well as praying for those involved in this great human tragedy. Bishop Reynald is currently in Igloolik, NU and regrets he will not pass through Ottawa to pray with us during this Fall campaign. However, perhaps next time!! - Sue L.

My goodness, to see the Body of Christ unifying and coming together to fight this thing ***in the flesh*** is something awesome to behold. Remember, folks, the prayers of the faithful transcend time and space. Prayers in Ottawa move hearts in Fredericton...and vice versa. Let us not think like the pagans do, expecting to see the results immediately, but put on the mind of Christ and be conformed to His likeness.

2) Time Slot Report: OK folks, it's time to put the hammer down as we approach the mid point rally. If you take a look at the calendar, we have breathing room for today and tomorrow with all slots being filled. (This happens, of course, because whole parishes/groups take a day -
that is why it is so important for individual parishes to get involved. If your parish has not taken a day, pray for a holy boldness to approach your parish priest and challenge him to step up to the plate.) Anyhow, Wednesday is the next day where empty slots pop up and Thursday too. Friday we have complete coverage again. So, folks, let's push, push, push. We're ascending Calvary and approaching the peek of the campaign. Let's step on the gas and release the power of the Holy Spirit to cover those slots!

September 30 , 2009 Hi John: In keeping with the Spirit of Fatima and
the third
apparition, our Apostolate have been holding First Saturday Devotions
to the Immaculate Heart of Mary year-round for the past 26 years.
During either May or October devotions (sometimes both) we have
enrollment in the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. As you
know Mary appeared during her final visit at Fatima as Our Lady of
Mount Carmel. Lucy, older seer of Fatima, told us ?the Scapular and
the Rosary are inseparable?. The Scapular is a symbol of Consecration
to Her and our way of recognizing Her as our Spiritual Mother and
placing total trust in Her as our intercessor and caring for all our

First Saturday Devotions and Enrollment in the Brown Scapular Wearing
the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is our way of showing
total trust in Mary. The Blessed Virgin appeared to the children of
Fatima with the scapular of Mount Carmel. Lucy, seer of Fatima,
explained the Blessed Virgin desires everyone to wear the scapular as
it is the sign of consecration to Her Immaculate Heart. Father Dennis
Hayes will enroll in the Brown Scapular following the 9:00 a.m.
Eucharistic Celebration, at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, (20
Grant St., off Parkdale Market) Saturday, October 3, 2009. Rosary
beginning at 8:40 a.m.

When I arrived this morning someone had left a circle of bird seeds and one pigeon was looking at it tentatively but not enjoying yet. In a few minutes a flock of pigeons arrived and together they fed on the seeds. WHAT'S THE MESSAGE IN THIS FOR US. To walk alone in support of life takes lots of courage but when that ONE is joined by others it is so much easier to take that first step. Several others joined me and we ended up at one point to be five. All of us were praying and you could feel the strength in numbers. May Our Lord continue to bless each of our endeavours. - L J

Folks, since this is a team effort, I want to impress on you the need to have a "holy
anxiousness" about the empty time slots. Obviously we all have our responsibilities and
we cannot be everywhere. However, we all need to "own" the responsibility to fill these
spots. If you, yourself, cannot be there. Try and think of people who can.

5) Operations Report:

a. Banner (LSN) - The banner you see on the 40 Days Ottawa home page is being displayed
over at LifeSite News to promote the 40 Days Campaign in Ottawa and throughout Canada.
This costs money, of course. Not only are we helping to promote our cause, we are
keeping the money "in da family", so to speak, by helping LSN with their financial needs.
Please consider sending in a donation to us, so that we can continue to help both of our
ministries. Check the website for particulars on how to do this.
b. Register if possible - Many people are still showing up without registering. While we
do not want to discourage people from showing up spontaneously, it is very important to
register so that we know which slots are filled. People sometimes rush there to fill an
empty slot, only to find people already there. No sacrifice is wasted, of course, but
more discipline in this area helps us cover the calendar more effectively.

c. Register for each hour - Many people are also signing up for one hour and also letting
me know in the "Notes" section of the sign up form that they are also going to be there
for other hours without registering for those hours. To help lessen the load, I would
appreciate if everyone would register for EACH HOUR you wish to participate. Please
follow the instructions on the Vigil Registration sheet to do so efficiently.

d. 40 Days @ 180 Degrees - Be sure to tell your family and friends who live in cities and
towns that are not officially participating in the campaign, that we welcome their
participation as well. Take the time to read this link and pass it on! Thanks.
