HOME: Welcome to 40 Days for Life

The Issue in Western Australia

Over 120,000 babies have been killed in the womb since abortion was legalised in Western Australia in 1998. Currently our State’s abortion rate is over 8,000 a year: on average, that's nearly one child every hour of the day and night, every day of the year. (By comparison last year there were just 4 local adoptions, despite a long waiting list to adopt.)

Most of these 8,000+ abortions are performed in the first 20 weeks of life, during which abortion is available in W.A. on demand. A much smaller number are killed at later stages, at an age when the human foetus is known to be capable of feeling pain and responding to stimuli - and even surviving outside of the womb. Some of those babies who have been subjected to late-term abortion in WA are known to have been born alive and then left exposed to die in our hospitals – at least fourteen such cases occurring in the same number of years since abortion became lawful here.

YOU can help save lives!

In 2013, 40 Days for Life campaigns across Australia will unite with the National Day of Prayer and Fasting, which will have a LIFE focus both for the Day of Prayer and for the 40 Days of Action / 40 Days for Life that follow from 13th February to 24th March.

40 Days for Life is about mobilising Christians to pray for an end to abortion, recognising that we have an obligation to bring the Kingdom of God into this and every sphere of our society. It unashamedly declares that abortion is an injustice not only against the unborn, but also against women.

40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life effort that consists of:

·         40 days of prayer and fasting

·         40 days of peaceful vigil

·         40 days of community outreach

We are praying that, with God's help, this groundbreaking effort will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in the city of Perth -- and throughout Australia.

Take a stand for life

While all aspects of 40 Days for Life are crucial in our effort to end abortion, the most visible component is the peaceful prayer vigil outside the local abortion facility.

You can help make a life-saving impact by joining our local vigil outside the Nanyara Abortion Clinic on the corner of Acton and Cleaver Terrace, Rivervale.  The vigil hours will be 7.30am to 4pm each day for 40 days.

Sign up to participate in the Perth 40 Days for Life vigil by clicking the "Vigil Schedule" link at the top of this page. Please do not simply turn up to the vigil without booking in as there is a limit on the number of persons permitted to assemble and you may be turned away.
