VIGIL DOS AND DON’TS REMEMBER:
THIS IS A PEACEFUL PRAYER VIGIL, NOT A PROTEST.
- ALWAYS keep on the snow/grass casueway between sidewalk and curb. DO NOT walk or stand on the private property or lean against the building. DO NOT STAND ON EITHER SIDEWALK THAT ACCESSES THE FRONT DOOR. IF YOU ARE ON THE SIDEWALK, KEEP MOVING.
- DO NOT BLOCK THE SIDEWALK WITH LAWN CHAIRS AND OR PEOPLE. BE SURE YOU LEAVE AT LEAST A COUPLE OF FEET FOR THE PUBLIC TO PASS BY.
- DO NOT attach any signs to the posts or street sign in front of the building YOU MAY LEAN SIGNS UP AGAINST THE TREE.
- Be in a spirit of prayer at all times. ALWAYS keep your cool – NO MATTER WHAT ? PRAY ALWAYS, keep small talk to a minimum. They may wrongfully conclude that you are laughing or talking about them.
- If God presents you with the opportunity to speak with a potential client, turn off the cries of the unborn and think about the cries of the woman. We are not there to pass judgment on her, but to encourage her to change her choice. Talk to her alone, all others should stay away. It makes her feel ganged up on.
- DO NOT RUN AFTER HER. DO NOT YELL SLOGANS AT HER.
- DO NOT KEEP TALKING AFTER SHE TELLS YOU SHE’S NOT INTERESTED.
- You may hand out reference material to clients: fetal development card and Pregnancy/Post Abortive Help brochure.
- Do Not Be Overly Religious. They may get the impression that you’re a fanatic and immediately be turned off. DO NOT FORCE MATERIAL ON A CLIENT.
- The only authorized signs for this campaign are “pray to end abortion” and “abortion hurts women” DO PLEASE NOT BRING ANY OTHER SIGNS WITH YOU.
- WELCOME ALL who come to pray and stand in solidarity with us for the unborn. WE ARE ONE BODY IN CHRIST.
- DO CALL 911 or the Plattsburgh City Police 563-3411 if you feel threatened or a crime has been committed.
