Dear 40 Days for life family,

Thank you to all of you for being a voice for the unborn children and for reaching out in love and Peace to their mothers, fathers, and family. Please read below for updates and encouraging news.
Closing Gathering-The closing gathering was wonderful thanks to great soup and planning by Erin and wonderful Music and testimony from Deanna and Mark. Thank you to all of you who attended and brought food to share.

Baby K. was a special guest at our closing gathering. K's Mom chose life for him during the spring campaign and he continues to bless everyone who sees his smiling face and hears his little “coos”. He is 8 weeks old already! His Mom is doing great and Pam and members of her church, Good Hope Baptist Church, have extended love and help for K. and his Mom.

Abortion Statistics for Wake County are decreasing.Great news received in an email from a vigil volunteer:
NC abortion numbers for 2008 show a decrease from 2007:Total abortions down 4.3%. Abortions by NC residents down 4.6%
Closer to home, a big encouragement to the 40DFL Volunteers!  Abortions in Wake County down 16.2%  !!All the numbers are available at http://www.schs.state.nc.us/SCHS/data/pregnancies/2008/

The prayer vigils are having an impact.
We know of 7 mothers who chose life for their children during the fall campaign.  One of these mother's was pregnant with twins.  We thank God for an opportunity to pray for them and to give them hope and love.
For the last year, counselors have been praying for a worker who wanted to find a new job. During this fall campaign the worker finally left the Abortion Clinic for a new job not at an abortion mill.

Can you pray outside of the clinic even though the Vigil has ended? YES! You do not need a permit in Raleigh to pray outside an abortion clinic as long as there are 9 or fewer people gathered at a time. Please stand inside the Grassy Circle area (the same as during the Vigil) if you go to pray at Drake. You can go at any time of day.
We do have permits for Friday's and Saturdays. Trained sidewalk counselors will continue to go to the clinic on Saturday mornings as well as some Friday mornings. If you would like to bring groups of people, Fridays and Saturdays are good days to come.

 40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life effort that consists of:

• 40 days of prayer and fasting

• 40 days of peaceful vigil

• 40 days of community outreach

We are praying that, with God's help, this groundbreaking effort will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in Raleigh and throughout America.

Taking a stand for life

While all aspects of 40 Days for Life are crucial in our effort to end abortion, the most visible component is the peaceful prayer vigil outside of a local abortion facility.

In Raleigh there are 3 abortion facilities located within 7 miles of each other. All of the facilities are open 6 days a week. Over 9546 abortions were performed in 2007  in Wake County.

This fall we stood and prayed September 23 through November 1st outside of:

A vigil is always peaceful and prayerful. All participants agree to abide by the "Statement of Peace" with a pledge that they will conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner.
