From February 17 thru March 28, 2010, the San Fernando Valley will join over 160 cities across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Northern Ireland for the largest 40 Days for Life Spring campaign yet.
KICKOFF EVENTS!!
Saturday, Feb. 13, 8 am-noon - Kickoff Rally
Our kickoff was awesome - PRAISE GOD!!! For the first time, we were blessed to have an ENORMOUS Mobile Ultrasound Unit parked directly across the street first thing in the morning, and what a beautiful sight that was!!! (Thanks again to Nancy for arranging that!) And, during the morning, several sidewalk counselors and prayer warriors were strategically moving/parking their cars until enough space was available directly in front of the main entrance to FPA for the Mobile Ultrasound Unit to park!!
The first prayer warrior to appear was one of our awesome Knights of Columbus, which always means others follow!! As the group continued to grow, including several first-timers, the Knights began the first rosary of the morning. By 9 am, we had a sizeable crowd, and Jesse Romero arrived with his family to lead a powerful holy hour like only he can do - God Bless You, Jesse!!!
A bit later, the pastors from Valley United Methodist Church arrived with their large and absolutely beautiful youth/young adult groups (maybe 20-25 total?) They covered the corner across the street AND the center divider with prayer warriors. Those of you who have witnessed youth in action during prior campaigns, you KNOW how powerful their presence can be!! It was wonderful!!
And, God Bless our Planned Parenthood/Van Nuys group!! They started their morning counseling at PP/Van Nuys, and later headed to FPA/Mission Hills to join our kickoff! Also, a local resident walked over to get information, and asked for flyers to take back to his nearby church, and just about everyone there committed to returning AT LEAST on Saturdays during Lent, with many committing to also return on weekdays to pray.
At the peak, one of our Knights counted approximately 70 prayer warriors, covering the front corner, opposite corner, back driveway and center divider. BEST OF ALL, WE WERE BLESSED WITH ONE CONFIRMED TURNAROUND - THANK YOU, GOD!!
Monday, Feb. 15, 6:30 pm - Kickoff Mass
This wonderful mass was offered by Father King, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 6153 Cahuenga Blvd, No. Hollywood. And, if that wasn't enough, we were truly blessed with the beautiful music ministry of Jennifer Grace and her husband Alex. Afterwards, many of us joined together for inspiring fellowship/sharing, which was a great way of getting to know each other much better!
Wednesday, Feb. 17 - 40 Days for Life begins!!!
40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life effort that consists of:

40 days of prayer and fasting

40 days of peaceful vigil
-
40 days of community outreach
We are praying that, with God's help, this groundbreaking effort will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our city -- and throughout America.
Take a stand for life
While all aspects of 40 Days for Life are crucial in our effort to end abortion, the most visible component is the peaceful prayer vigil outside local abortion facilities.
