What will you do to stop the silent Holocaust? 

From February 17 through March 28, teams in 163 cities from coast to coast in the United States – as well as locations in Canada, Australia and Northern Ireland – will take part in this mission.  In Sioux City we will still be doing our part!  We are asking all of our faithful prayer warriors to not only continue with their prayers and fasting but to spread the word and to get your friends and neighbors involved too.  In addition, we will be sharing information with you about prolife activities and resources.  

** Please note; While we are not participating in the 24/7 vigil campaign this time we will be back in full force for the Fall 2010 24/7 constant vigil.   

For those of you who may be new to the 40 Days for Life family, 40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life effort that consists of 40 days of :

The power of this campaign and prayers like yours is evident:  in the Fall 2009 campaign over 600 babies were saved, 3 abortion clinics closed and 8 abortion workers left their jobs including Abby Johnson, former director of the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Bryan/College Station, Texas ... the community where 40 Days for Life began.  

Since the effort began in 2007 over 2000 babies have been saved but there is still more to do, including right here in Siouxland.  It is estimated that over 400 babies are killed at the planned parenthood office in Sioux City each year!  We must continue with our efforts and not lose the momentum we've gained in past campaigns.

What can you do............Take a stand for life!

Even though we are not holding the constant vigil, prayer and fasting will be central to our efforts during this campaign.  Here are some ideas to help you to decide how you will participate.
 
     • Pray at Planned Parenthood on 3/2 & 3/16, the two abortion Tuesdays in lent
     • Offer extra masses for an end to abortion
     • Participate in Eucharistic Adoration
     • Fast or give up your favorite food, beverage or activity
     • Give of your time and your talent - volunteer or give to the less fortunate

In addition to the prayer and fasting component, we will be providing information about prolife events and activities, resources that are available and updates on how the campaign is going nationwide.
