Praying our way to end Abortion!! 40 Days for Life is an intensive international effort designed to raise awareness, save lives, bring healing, and lead our nation to repentance for the sin of abortion through three components: 1. Prayer and fasting Christ told us that some demons can only be driven out by prayer and fasting. The two go hand in hand. Prayer keeps us rooted in the fact that it is our desire to carry out God's will. Fasting is a sacrifice that helps us reach beyond our own limitations with God's help. Fasting is not a Christian diet; it is a form of physical prayer. You can fast from food, TV, alcohol ... anything that is a challenge for you to give up that you can offer up to God as recompense for His blessings and grace in bringing an end to abortion. 2. Sign up for prayer requests and updates To learn more about 40 Days for Life and get prayer requests and breaking news about this effort, sign up today using the form on the top right of this page. 3. Spread the word The success of 40 Days for Life depends on the most powerful form of advertising in the world -- word of mouth. Find your role Prayerfully discern how God is calling you to help and contact us to explore opportunities to assist in the following areas 5. Participate in the peaceful vigil Our presence at Planned Parenthood is a peaceful vigil where participants pray individually or in small groups for an end to abortion, for babies who have been killed by an abortion, for healing for women who have had an abortion and for a conversion of hearts of those who consider, encourage and/or participate in providing an abortion. Participants must sign a "Statement of Peace" pledging to conduct themselves in a peaceful and Christ-like manner. Forms are available at the vigil site.
In just two years and four national campaigns the 40 Days for Life effort to end abortion has gained tremendous momentum and results.
From September 23 through November 1 our community will be one of more than 208 cities in 45 states joining together for the 40 Days for Life fall 2009 campaign.
Each day between now and the end of the campaign, please commit to pray and fast for the nationwide effort, and for our efforts here in Siouxland.
You are not asked to cary signs, vocalize your opinions to others or even address those entering the facility. You simply show up at your assigned time and say the prayers that you are inspired by the Holy Spirit to say.
This is a non-denominational effort and we welcome participants from all walks of life and faiths. We do have information, prayer books and spritual materials to help you if you desire.
