March 16-31 2009 Front Line Happenings

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 -- DAY 35
From Sue K: The March winds were blowing and our resolve to pray to end abortion was stronger than the wind. Since the winds were so strong our witness to the sanctity of life was the more powerful. Deacon Kurt Godfryed from St. Clement Parish in Romeo led about twenty warriors in prayer. He began with a Litany for life and life issues. In spite of the relentless wind we prayed the Stations of the Cross. Then Deacon Kurt gave us his blessing. Warrior Jenny invited the steadfast to remain and pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

Monday, March 30, 2009 -- DAY 34
From Jenny P: When I got to the abortion clinic about 7:00 p.m. this evening, I placed my 40 Days Pray to End Abortion sign against my front tire with my bag of items, then went to get my table out of my trunk.  There were four boys in their early teens riding their bikes behind me near the clinic.  They screamed, "I love abortion", "abortion rules", "if it wasn't for abortion, I'd have three kids by now."  I kept a smile on my face and just shook my head.  I didn't say anything... what good would it do anyway. (I thought to myself, such disrespectful kids... soooo sad.)  Well, they rode away and one of them took my 40 Days for Life Pray To End Abortion sign and turned into the subdivision.  I just stood there, no use in getting upset -- they were just acting out for each other.  I was not impressed at all!!

Andrea came over to me and said I shouldn't stay alone tonight. She said she and Tim had been harassed by that group of boys the prior hour.  Tim tried to talk to them, but they are totally disrespectful to life and just disrespectful in general...just no talking to them. They are in need of lots of our prayers for a conversion of their hearts.   I said the rosary with Andrea and then she had to go home, so I left for home also.  I just didn't want to deal with those boys again if they came back.  We did receive several happy toots from those who drove by while we said the rosary for the unborn.   It was a beautiful, sunny evening out today... not like the blizzard of yesterday, but we both left after the rosary due to those disrespectful boys!  It seems that the evil one has gotten to so many men, women and young ones.  It just breaks my heart, it's just sooo sad!!!

Sunday, March 29, 2009 – DAY 33
From Jenny P:  It was 32 degrees out, windy, snowing quite a bit and I wasn't feeling 100% so I prayed in my car during the 7-8 p.m. prayer hour.  I set up my crystal cross with three small flickering lights and my angel who glows different colors on the dash in front or me.  My Right To Life sign in the front window and the 40 Days Pray to End Abortion sign in the back window.  I blessed myself with holy water and made the sign of the cross on the ground next to my car with holy water.  I asked all the aborted babies, my deceased loved ones and all the angels to pray with me for the end of abortion in our world and for all those involved in any way with abortion, to be converted to LIFE!!  I began with reading about Passion Week from my Maryknoll Missal (Mommy & Daddy got this for me for my 16th birthday --- many moons ago).  I then said/sang the rosary with my Fr. Scallon/Dana cassette, meditating on the Sorrowful Mysteries.  I then sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.  I then began another rosary, meditating on the Glorious Mysteries during the last ten minutes of my prayer hour and finished on the way home.

A police car stopped in front of me during the start of my hour, saw my sign and I held up my rosary and waved to him (so great that they check on us Prayer Warriors, especially when we women are alone and it is getting to be dusk & nighttime.).  Another gentleman stopped in front on my car and said a prayer.  I could see his rosary hanging from his rearview mirror.  A half dozen or so cars slowed down to read my signs after going into the various stores behind me... but it was really windy and huge snow flakes were falling... so not much traffic. And of course, no negative folks this evening... Thank you, Jesus!!! That's always so great!!!

Sunday, March 29, 2009 -- DAY 33
From Maribeth:  Amazing grace and blessings! That is what we received during the prayer hours from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. today. First to gather was the F.A.M. Youth group from St. Martin de Porres. They proudly took their stand with their signs for life. Then the members of the St. Lawrence Pro-Life group gathered with signs and our banner. We also had several others who “just came out to pray.” We filled the grass and sidewalk. Father Don led all of us in the Rosary, the Chaplet and the Litany for the Unborn. The weather was not friendly at all; but, it didn’t stop our group of 50+ from praying for the babies who are in danger of abortion or for their moms who are confused in thinking this is their only choice or for the doctors/nurses that they turn from death to life. As the rain fell harder, we were blessed again to have Deacon Jerry from Sts. Cyril and Methodious come and lead us in another prayer hour. Just to see the perseverance and faithfulness of so many prayer warriors brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart. Yes, we have been so blessed this campaign. Our efforts in praying for the unborn is making a difference – it is bringing awareness to those who drive by and causing people to share their ideas to protect life. Heavenly Father, thank Your for Your goodness – please continue to send Your blessings upon all of our faithful prayer warriors and their families – no matter where they pray – You know their intentions of the heart.

Saturday, March 28, 2009 -- DAY 32
From Jenny PIt was chilly (42 degrees) and pretty windy during my 7-8 p.m. prayer hour but I lasted 50 minutes outside.  I set up my table as always and started with singing the rosary.  Lots of thumbs up and actually one guy rolled down his window totally and stuck out his whole arm and gave me three thumbs up with a big smile.  A couple ladies drove by to go to one of the stores and gave me big smiles also.  A young man stopped by to talk for a bit.  He is Evangelical and wanted to thank us and give us his support.  I thanked him for taking the time to stop and tell me that. So nice of him! He is from the west side and involved with pro-life organizations on that side of town.  Then he started to talk about Mary, the apostles and the bible. I gently told him that I realize my Christian brothers/sisters have their own opinions about Mary but he would never change my mind.  She is our Blessed Mother, my heavenly mother and I pray to her just like I pray to my own mom/dad asking them to "help me, their daughter" when I have a problem -- no adoration -- just great love from  the bottom of my heart and soul.  Also, my husband and I read a little of the bible together each night and we pray together every day, so we are all set as far as we are concerned and we totally love our Catholic faith.  Plus, I was here at the abortion clinic to pray for moms and dads who are contemplating abortion for their babies and did not wish to get into a discussion of that sort.  I gave him one of our flyers and The Prayer For The Helpless Unborn.  I thanked him for being a teacher and we agreed our love for Jesus was what binds us Christians together.  We shook hands, said God bless you to each other and he left. I continued my praying for the precious unborn to be given LIFE!!   After singing the rosary, I sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. I then packed up my car singing Immaculate Mary and started another rosary in my car with my rosary Cassette for the last ten minutes of my prayer hour.  What a great prayer hour I had this evening -- all positive, smiling, happy people driving by, and stopping by. It's always so nice not to have "negative, hateful" folks scream at you!!!  Thank you, Jesus!!!

Friday, March 27, 2009 -- DAY 31
From Maribeth: Deacon Franz from St. Ronald’s Parish led our prayer vigil this evening. About 20+ prayer warriors gathered as we prayed the Way of the Cross. Deacon Franz interjected heartfelt reflections between each Station for the aborted babies, for the abortion doctors/nurses, for the public, for the moms/dads who will choose abortion, etc.  We received the usual mix of happy toots and angry words – but our praying continued – as we took the stand for life with our signs and peaceful ways. Thank you, Deacon Franz, for the giving of your time and prayers.

Thursday, March 26, 2009 -- DAY 30
From Jenny P:  As always, I set up my table with a crystal cross, surrounded by three small flickering candles (for Father, Son & Holy Spirit), an angel who glows different colors, a pack of 40 Days for Life flyers, other info cards, and red, white, and blue rosaries in case anyone needed to use one of them.  I blessed myself with holy water and also made the sign of the cross on the ground with holy water. Shortly thereafter, the St. Sharbel Bible Study Group joined me.  We had a beautiful prayer vigil starting out with the Prayer for the Helpless Unborn, the rosary, and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.  We sang God Bless America and ended our prayer vigil with Immaculate Mary.   Those walking by smiled and said hello. They were really friendly toward our group.  For those driving by us, I'm sure it was great to see our peaceful, prayerful group witnessing against the evil of abortion.  During the rosary, two of us stood by my prayer table and the rest of the St. Sharbel folks stood along the street, each holding a sign against abortion.  We got lots of thumbs up, waves, smiles and happy toots from those passing by.  I did not notice any negative folks driving by this evening.  That's always nice!!! Gary, thank you for leading our group in the Chaplet of Divine Mercy; it was a lovely evening for all of us as we prayed for our precious little unborn brothers & sisters.

Wednesday, March 25, 2009 – DAY 29
From Sue K: We gathered for the St. Lawrence vigil at 7:00 p.m. Fr. Don led us in prayer like no one else: 1) Pro-life Stations & hymns; 2) Pro-life litany; 3) Chaplet of Divine Mercy; and, 4) Blessing. We were so blessed by his prayer leadership. He is a man of prayer and courage and generosity. There was a great turnout of prayer warriors.

Wednesday, March 25, 2009 – DAY 29
From Ray D: Just wanted to let you know the Wednesday 5:00 to 7:00 shift went well. John, Sharon & I were joined by Sarah who was there for her first time. She's a member of Sts Cyril & Methodius and decided to stop on her way to mass for the Annunciation. She was very nice but made us feel like wimps since we had our sweatshirts and coats on and she wore no coat.  Someone also drove up to give us some candles you could use for a vigil. I put those in the van.  Got a laugh when John asked me if they were blessed and I said "I don't know, can you tell?" We decided to say "God bless you" to all those who gave us the one finger salute.

Wednesday, March 25, 2009 – DAY 29
From Jenny P and Norma R: Last night Norma and I set up my prayer table as always.  We were joined by 17 other Prayer Warriors who gathered in prayer during the 7:00 p.m. hour, a large portion being men, women and children from St. Lawrence Church.  We began with the rosary.  Fr. Don from St. Lawrence then led our group in meditation of the Stations of the Cross.   Father passed out song books and we joined voices.  One of the St. Lawrence Prayer Warriors held Father Don's glorious, large picture of Jesus -- Divine Mercy...Jesus, I trust in you, and a tall candle was placed in front of that picture.  It must have been such a peaceful, prayerful group to see by those passing by who had open hearts toward us.

At first, a young woman drove by and screamed, "I had an abortion."  How hateful her voice sounded.  My heart ached for her and I felt so sorry for her.  I'm sure that those of us who had heard what she yelled out toward us said a silent prayer to our Lord to wrap His healing arms around that young woman and bring her back to His LIGHT.   People drove by clapping toward us, thumbs up, happy tooting as they saw this beautiful group of all ages praying in peaceful witness for the end to abortion.  Our beautiful banner was held by two St. Lawrence Prayer Warriors and each person held their own sign against this evil in our world.

Thank you, Fr. Don, for leading us in a beautiful prayer vigil.  We are all so very blessed to be able to join together and face the public and let our voices rise in prayer and song to God.  We must not stop our peaceful witness until abortion is unthinkable in our world.

Wednesday, March 25, 2009 – DAY 29
From Dianne B: What a glorious day! I arrived at the clinic around 10 am to find a group of prayers huddled together beneath a sea of umbrellas praying the rosary, led by Tim. As we continued to pray, the sky opened up and the rain fell in a downpour lasting about 1 ½ hours. I couldn't help but think that these were tears of sorrow that were falling from heavenly heights, bathing us as our prayers reached the tender, merciful heart of Jesus. “Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are in the greatest need of Your mercy!” ...we fervently prayed. A few prayer warriors had to leave and a few more arrived. We were drenched and chilled but our spirits were not dampened. Mary F. led us in praying the entire rosary using meditations for the unborn. There were now 11 of us armed with rosaries, umbrellas overhead, signs in hands, and praying from the depths of our beings as the rain continued to fall upon us. A young woman pulled into the parking lot and stopped her car adjacent to the sidewalk where we were praying and rolled down her window. She said she had a story she wanted to share with us. We gathered to listen as she told us that she is employed by the State of Michigan and works with single mothers and their children. She shared that she is currently working with a single mother with a toddler who had changed her mind at an abortion clinic because of prayers like us. They told this young mother that there were people who could help her if she decided to keep her baby and they gave her the phone number to Compassion Pregnancy Center. Because of their presence at the clinic and the information they gave her, she did not go through with the abortion and now has a beautiful toddler! Later, another young woman slowed her car down to a stop in front of us, rolled her window down, and leaned across the seat and said “Thank you!” then drove on. As some others left, Deacon Gerald and Virginia arrived and he prayed the mid-day prayer for this day, Psalm 94. “Lord, avenging God, shine forth! Rise up, judge of the earth; give the proud what they deserve. How long, Lord, shall the wicked glory? How long will they mouth haughty speeches, go on boasting, all these evildoers? They crush your people, Lord, torment your very own. They kill the widow and alien; the fatherless they murder.”    We watched as the doctor left the clinic. We witnessed many women leave in obvious distress.

All this on the feast of the Annunciation, "the day that Mary's obedient “fiat” allowed all that our hearts cry out for to become flesh in her womb!" As we continue to wage war in this battle for souls with our prayers for an end to abortion, may “the Holy Spirit come upon us, and the power of the Most High overshadow us”, so that our “yes” may yield a grace rich in mercy as we pray for the silent unborn.

Wednesday, March 25, 2009 – DAY 29
From Dianne B: I had the opportunity today to ask a young man, who was waiting for his "girlfriend" in the clinic, if he would like to take our card with information on it.  He was in Tubby's and so was I, but he refused.  It was a brief interaction and simple but I really felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to extend it to him.  I was a little anxious but obedient to God's urging...as this young man stood outside for lengths of time just staring at our group.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009 -- DAY 28
From Dianne B:   Maureen M. and I decided to do a holy hour of prayer this evening at the clinic.  We arrived around 6:00 p.m. and parked our car facing the building.  All day today I kept recalling the signs at the abortion clinic, both on the building and the one in the parking lot.  This past Friday, two different people remarked to me to take a good look at the Woman Care abortion clinic signs, and to pay particular attention to what I saw in the word "Care."   I noticed with clarity that there is a  +  that extends from the bottom of the "C"!   I can't shake the impression that the subtle use of this symbol in such a deceptive way has left on me.

Maureen and I decided to remain in the car to pray, so I boldly displayed a cross I had brought from home on my dash board along with a picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.   We prayed the Sorrowful Mysteries of the rosary with the prayer intentions to end abortion using the meditations by Priests for Life, and then the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.  All the while we asked God to touch the hearts of those women who may have abortions scheduled for tomorrow morning and to send His holy angels to this place, to the women and those who will be accompanying them, and speak God's word of love and truth to them that their hearts would be changed.   Near the end of our hour of prayer, Jenny P. arrived, and armed with her rosary and sign, Pray to End Abortion, took her position near the sidewalk!  God bless you, dear Jenny, for your fortitude and commitment to our Lord and His unborn innocents.  You are truly an inspiration!  Praise God for all the dedicated prayer warriors and for all who work and pray for an end to abortion!

Monday, March 23, 2009 – DAY 27
From Jenny P and Carol B: As I was setting up my table, I saw Carol walking toward me... yeah--I would not be praying alone today.  We started out with the rosary, meditating on the Joyful Mysteries, singing short prayers after each decade, and then started singing the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.  Immediately, a young woman screamed at us, "Get a life!! You should pray for yourself!!  Carol and I prayed for that lost, sad soul for our Lord to enlighten her heart and heal the hurt she must be feeling that is making her so hateful to two gals simply peacefully praying the rosary.  I wish they would come over to talk and see how gentle and loving we are because of Christ working through us.  Prayer will have to do for now...because they usually just scream as they are going by... sooooooo sad!  My heart breaks for their pain, whatever it is that makes them so hateful.  Right then, a woman, Geri, stopped by to ask about our prayer group.  We gave her our flyer and since she is "computer-wise" she said she would go right home and check out our website as well as the national website.  We also told her about Rachael's Vineyard. She felt that that was the healing one of her friends might need.  Wow, what a great feeling to know that Carol and I were able to touch a post-abortive woman through her friend who just happened to stop and chat with us for a bit. We finished up our prayer time.  Our fingers and toes were totally frozen but we made it through our complete prayer hour.  (I don't even like to complain about the cold here in Michigan... because I know it is "a kabillion" times colder in other areas where our brother and sister Prayer Warriors are out in the elements praying --- but man, my fingers were like ice.   We offered it up for our precious, little brothers and sisters in the womb.) Carol and I are honored to be Prayer Warriors at the WomanCare abortion clinic in Sterling Heights, MI.

Monday, March 23, 2009 -- DAY 27
From Maribeth
:   I was at the hospital with my mother-in-law yesterday for some testing...over the speaker system a lullaby began to play.  I remember when my father-in-law was in the hospital a while back and they told us that whenever you hear that lullaby, it means a baby was just delivered.  The tears streamed down my face...knowing that as that baby was being welcomed into the arms of their mommy/daddy, another baby's limp, lifeless body was being dumped in the red "toxic waste" bucket.  My heart hurt so badly...(and still does).  I was also praying for all the prayer warriors out at the clinic...thanking God for their dedication and faithfulness.  The public sees their faith in action and, as Sue reminds me, lives are being saved that we will never, ever know about while on this earth.  So, again, I thank all of you for what you do for those little precious babies -- who are covered from head to toe in God's fingerprints!!

Sunday, March 22, 2009 – DAY 26
From Sue K:  Three prayer warriors were approached this morning by a man who was in profound pain due to an abortion that his wife received at this clinic six years ago. He is tormented with guilt. His wife sees the abortion as a good option considering the circumstances and has no regret. He asked for help in dealing with this overwhelming burden. We directed him to a Center near his home and assured him of God’s forgiving love and our prayers for his healing and the healing of his family. Let us remember that all of these moments of grace are made possible by the committed, selfless prayer of all of the warriors. Remain steadfast in hope, trust, prayer, fasting and witness.

Sunday, March 22, 2009 -- DAY 26
From Jenny P: I arrived back at the clinic for my 5:00 p.m. prayer hour.  (I was still full of joy from our 3:00 p.m. prayer vigil with Father Joe leading the rosary... all 40+ of us Prayer Warriors in peaceful, prayerful witness for our unborn brothers and sisters... so great!) My hour was a little bit more low key...by about 40+ people...it was just me... but that's OK!!! I was dressed in my good clothes for 6:30 Rosary/7:00 p.m. Mass at St. Cyril's, so I was pretty cold by the end of my hour...I thought with the sun out it would be warmer --- wrong!!!  But, I made it through my hour.  I set up my "prayer table" and said my rosary.  Right away some guy drives by and screams "get a life."  I'll tell ya, that really makes me laugh... that poor, sad, lost soul totally does not get it... I right away said, "from his lips to Your ears, Sweet Jesus... forgive his anger/hatred toward me... he is just lost.  Immediately after that, a man and lady drove by honking and waving like mad with big smiles on their faces... so great.   Then, my hubby's three cousins stopped by, John, Virginia and Rita, to "give me a hug and encouragement."  That was so sweet of them!  We talked a few minutes. They liked my crystal cross and angel.  They said they pray the Prayer For The Helpless Unborn every day from home.  I said they were our Home Prayer Warriors and we appreciate them very much because their prayers keep us on-site Prayer Warriors strong.  They left after a few minutes so I could get back to my prayers for the babies. A man stopped by to ask what I was doing and I gave him all the 40 Days for Life information.  We talked about various things regarding abortion and I ended up saying it is never right to kill a baby. We are peacefully praying for moms/dads who are making difficult decisions regarding their unborn babies...that they will chose life and ask for help from the many pro-life organizations who are ready and willing to help.  Also, we pray for men/women who went through abortion...that they will find Jesus and receive healing.  It was a very nice discussion. As always, those walking by smiled, said hello... I think most people are happy that we are out here praying to end abortion.  There were lots of "happy toots", thumbs up, and waves. It was totally awesome to have such a good turn out for our 3:00 p.m. Group Prayer Vigil this afternoon!!!  And, Fr. Joe was so great to be there with us! Please Lord, rid our nation of the awful evil of abortion.  Amen.

Sunday, March 22, 2009 – DAY 26
From Maribeth: What a glorious day it was to assemble at the clinic to pray for the unborn and for healing for the men/women who have chosen abortion. We were very blessed to have Father Joe from St. Malachy join us and lead us in the Rosary – praying the Sorrowful Mysteries. About 40+ prayer warriors gathered on the grass and sidewalk to lift up their hearts and prayers to our most merciful Lord. After the Rosary, Jenny P, lead us in the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. We then all sang “Hosea” – a beautiful song about God longing for us to come back to Him with all of our heart. We ended the hour with the Prayer for the Helpless Unborn. My heart was filled with gratitude for such a beautiful outpouring of love for those helpless little babies.

Saturday, March 21, 2009 – DAY 25
From Jenny P: I arrived at the clinic for my prayer hour at 7:00 p.m.  It was in the mid 40's but got chilly as the hour went on...glad I dressed warm.  I was by myself this evening for my prayer hour (with my Guardian Angel of course).  I set up my table as usual, blest myself with holy water and the ground around me and said/sang the rosary meditating on the Sorrowful Mysteries.  Some guy driving by screamed Hey! ---  Hey!, but I didn't pay attention... it didn't sound like a happy person... I just kept on with my rosary.  I heard happy toots now and then during my prayer hour, got smiles and nods of approval from those driving past me going into the various stores.

Half way through the Chaplet of Divine Mercy in song a young guy and gal from CousinoHigh School stopped by to interview me via video for a school project. I told them I didn't think that the schools were letting them discuss pro-life, they said yes they can --- how great is that! I gave them one of our flyers if they needed more detailed information about 40 Days for Life, I invited them to come back Sunday at 3:00 p.m. for our group vigil if they wanted to interview more people.  I spoke right from my heart and gave them my feelings on peacefully praying for the end of abortion. How I first found out about praying for abortion through a Michigan Catholic article a couple years back about the early Mass at the Shrine of the Little Flower, then walking from 12 & Southfield four blocks to the abortion clinic with a bishop & four priests leading us in the rosary, songs, other prayers... over 200 of us.  Then I found about 40 Days for Life...explained why it's 40 days... many biblical reasons Noah, Israelites, Jesus in the Desert, etc.  They asked why I was praying at this spot and I said, "because WomanCare over there does abortions."   The girl said, "Oh, I didn't even know that."  She asked me how I feel about killing animals, deer hunting, etc.  I said I think it's awful for anyone to abuse animals... but a baby is a totally different thing...it is a blessing, a gift from God... from the moment of conception.   She asked me about rape.  I said, that touches my heart because I know a girl who was raped, but that is no reason to kill the baby...the baby isn't evil.. the man who rapes her acting evil, but the baby is a blessing from God and has all the beautiful, goodness from the mom. If only we could nurture that mom through her 9 months and comfort her and stand strong with her, she could give the baby to a loving family if she just cannot keep it because of the bad memories of the rape. If she did that she wouldn’t have the pain and sin of killing an innocent baby.  I told her every day I pray for moms/dads who are contemplating killing their babies; praying that Our Lord will touch their hearts; that they will give life to their babies; that they seek help from many pro-life organizations who can help in every way; and, that men/women who have gone through abortion will find healing.   Also, it is the Fifth Commandment of God... Thou shalt not kill…. and I totally am against abortion for any reason.  She asked me if I get paid for being here.  I laughed and said no. I get blessings from God for being here and praying for the unborn... that's all I need.  I truly believe I gave them something to think about and hopefully their entire class/school will listen to what I said and look deep into their hearts and realize that killing an innocent baby in the womb is an evil, evil thing. They left and I finished my Chaplet and closed my prayer time with the Prayer for the Helpless Unborn.

Saturday, March 21, 2009 – DAY 25
From Maribeth: Talk about people jumping on the band wagon! When I arrived at the clinic around 8:00 a.m. there were about four prayer warriors outside and one dedicated prayer warrior in her car (sick, but still willing to come and pray—thank you Carol). As the minutes ticked on, more and more people started to arrive. The women’s prayer group from New Baltimore came out again to lead us in prayer – what a blessing! Our small group was now almost 20 people walking in prayer in front of the clinic. We had many happy toots and thank you’s. Thank You, Jesus for Your Amazing Grace, blessings and encouragement.

Friday, March 20, 2009 -- DAY 24
From Jenny P: I arrived at the clinic at 7:00 p.m.  There were two Prayer Warriors there (Anna and Tricia from BishopFoleyHigh School).  They had been there for a while and were pretty cold.  I set up my table with cross, angel, candles, flyers, red, white & blue rosaries, and the Prayer for the Helpless Unborn cards.  We blessed ourselves with holy water and then said the rosary, meditating on the Sorrowful Mysteries.  After the girls left, I then said the Way Of The Cross using the prayer booklet from ResurrectionCemetery, singing "Were You There When They Crucified My Lord" after each station.  I then sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and my prayer hour was over.  I sang Immaculate Mary as I packed up.   We had only one negative screamer who screamed “get a life!!!"   That is so silly!  What better thing can a person do than to pray for the end of abortion…which they know we are doing because of the 40 Days For Life sign --- PRAY TO END ABORTION.  Anyways, I just said from their lips to your ears, Sweet Jesus... Have mercy on them... they are clueless.  Such sad, poor, lost souls to yell at a woman praying to end abortion. It totally boggles my mind how they can be so cruel... but I totally turn it over to our Lord and just pray for them. As usual, there were lots of "happy toots" and waves and smiles and thumbs up... lots of folks totally get why we are praying at that abortion clinic.   That is so great.  Hopefully, more will join us and become Prayer Warriors.

Friday, March 20, 2009 -- DAY 24
From Maribeth:  Thank You Jesus!  I was able to stop by the clnic for a few minutes this morning and there were seven faithful prayer warriors praying for life along with Deacon Jerry and his wife (from St. Cyril's).  The sad news was that 14 girls were in the clinic -- and reports were that they were young!  When I left, another family was joining the group -- that made 11 prayer warriors taking the stand in the windy, chilly weather.

Thursday, March 19, 2009 -- DAY 23
From Jenny P: T
his evening it was just me (and my guardian angel, of course).  Even though it was sunny and 30 degrees, it was rather windy and I didn't dress as warm as I usually do, so I only lasted 50 minutes outside; the last 10 minutes were in the car.  I set up my table as usual with my crystal cross, flickering candles (for the Father, Son and Holy Ghost) and my angel who glows different colors.  I started out with the rosary, meditating on the Mysteries of Light, I sang the first three decades and prayed the last two... and sang all kinds of little prayers after each decade.  Then I started the Chaplet of Divine Mercy in song...like I said, I only lasted 50 minutes outside...and finished the Chaplet in my nice warm car... man, were my ears/hands ever burning from the cold.... but I offered it up for the babies as long as I could stand it.  I did not get any nasty gestures and no nasty words were screamed at me this evening, but lots of happy toots, thumbs up, waves and smiles -- that's always nice to know pro-life people are out there cheering you on!!

Thursday, March 19, 2009 -- DAY 23
From Maribeth:  Brr....I forget that it is still winter (even though spring is a day away)...it was cold out there in the late afternoon.  As much as my body dislikes the cold, I feel privileged to be able to take the stand for life and be a peaceful, prayerful public witness to the community.  The shouts of "get a life" make me smile, because I know how much of a blessed life I do have...and I want others to have the chance at the same blessing.  The times I am able to get away to the clinic to pray keep me focused on being the hands and feet of Jesus.  I joined John, a very dedicated prayer warrior who is there every weekday at 4:00 p.m.  A man drove up to John and thanked him/us for being there to offer prayers for the unborn.  We do make a difference in our presence!

Wednesday, March 18, 2009 – DAY 22
From Mary B: Last Wednesday I went to the clinic at 10:00am and I arrived to see about 10 other prayer warriors.  We all decided to say the Rosary together.  As we were in the middle of the sorrowful mysteries a truck pulled up next to the clinic and a younger man got out and went to the back of the truck and pulled out a red toxic waste bucket.  It was the first time I witnessed this and I felt paralyzed.  Then one of the warriors said let us kneel down in a moment of silence.  We all knelt down on the concrete and grass and I prayed for those innocent babies that would be thrown in that bucket as waste and the sorrow overwhelmed me.  I started praying for the driver that God would let him see the evil of this job he was part of.  We were all crying but continued on with the rosary. When the man came out with the container holding God's precious creations, I started to cry harder and also started to pray much louder hoping this young man would hear our cries and prayers.  He would not look up and kept his head down with his baseball cap over his eyes.  I knew than that he did feel guilty for this crime because he could not look at us and that is a good start that Our Lord is pulling on his conscience.  I keep this man in my daily prayers for God's grace to enlighten him.

Wednesday, March 18, 2009 – DAY 22
From Jenny P: What a great group of Prayer Warriors we had this evening!!! Nine of us: John and his young sons Nicholas and Samuel, Mary, Julie, Jackie and Carol from St. Lawrence; Norma from St. Ronald and myself from St. Malachy.  John and his two sons held our beautiful banner.  We clustered close together and began with The Prayer for the Helpless Unborn.  We then spread out and said the rosary with singing after each decade and the Prayer to St. Michael before each decade.  Then we sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.  It was a little bit chilly out but not too bad at all. Carol told the group about the baby saved from abortion on 3-13.  It was such a blessing that people were praying for the mom and her baby that morning.  May many more babies be saved by our humble, little prayer group!!!   Dear Jesus, We beg you to convert the hearts of many moms & dads to chose LIFE for their babies through the fasting & prayers of us Prayer Warriors.  Amen.    I believe only two negative things were yelled at us.  I don't know what they said, thank goodness, because we had the two boys praying with us but their father, John, said that they had discussed the fact that there might be people who were going to say mean things. It looked like these young boys were grown up enough to understand that we must pray for those lost souls who scream nasty things at us or gesture nasty things at us.  How sad though that these people don't respect that we had two young boys praying with us.  SHAME ON THEM!!  After each one passed, I said," from their lips to your ears, Sweet Jesus".  May God have mercy on their souls for being so full of hate toward our little prayer group and may He convert them to LIFE! However, as usual, we had many happy toots and thumbs up.  So many people appreciate what we are doing...a lady and her dog walked by to thank us for being out there praying for those babies!  Wish more would join us as Prayer Warriors. I still pray that the doctor who owns these clinics will be converted to LIFE and change his clinics to PRO-LIFE clinics and be a truly "WomanCare" clinic...

Wednesday, March 18, 2009 – DAY 22
From Maribeth:  There is something about being at the clinic in prayer...just knowing that our prayers are connected with the many faithful prayer warriors around the nation during this 40 Days for Life campaign truly makes my heart fill with warmth.  John was there and he welcomed Tom, another new prayer warrior who just stopped by because he saw someone there.  Yes, we are all connected in our mission to protect and save the unborn...through the strength and grace that Jesus gives us.

Wednesday, March 18, 2009 – DAY 22
From Sue K: What a JOYFUL, MEMORABLE, POWERFUL presence the home school mothers and children were this morning. The children are home grown and nurtured with love and care, and they were sunshine on an overcast day. The children may never know the full  power of their presence; but, hopefully, they know that more and more parents are looking forward to the birth of their precious babies because of their prayerful witness. The children's prayers are most pleasing to God.  May peace and love and faith grow deeper and stronger in all of your families.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009 – DAY 21
From Jenny P: (To support the local businesses in the strip mall, before I left home, I called Tubby's and ordered sub to pick up at 8:00 p.m. after my prayer time at the clinic.)  When I got to the clinic, Cindy was praying there already waiting for me.  We set up my table, started with the Prayer for the Precious Unborn, said the Rosary, and sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. I wasn't able to get away from work to visit our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament at St. Thecla's, so I read some prayers that I usually say in front of Him on Tuesdays.  Then we finished up the last five minutes singing a couple songs to Mary and a song for America.  At the start of our prayer hour, one car had a "screamer"... but we could not understand what was "screamed" at us... we just looked at each other and I said, from their lips to your ears, Sweet Jesus.  Why they are so hateful to two gals peacefully praying I'll never know!!  Such sad, lost souls!!!  We had lots of happy toots and thumbs up this evening.  After we packed up, I picked up my sub and we each headed home.

St. Patrick, please watch over all us Prayer Warriors and pray for the safety, courage, and strength for all of us to be there for those lost men/women who think their only choice is to kill their babies.  Let our peaceful prayer for them melt their hearts and convert them to LIFE and to seek help with pro-life organizations.  Amen.

Monday, March 16, 2009 – DAY 20
From Jenny P: I arrived at the clinic at 7:00.  Andrea was still there from her prayer time and Sharon, Tim and John had just left.  Andrea and I said the Prayer for Helpless Unborn to end her prayer time & to start mine.  I began singing my rosary, meditating on the Joyful Mysteries from my Rosary booklet.  Several people drove by & smiled.  When I was starting the third decade, Mary Ann drove by, parked and joined me for the rest of my prayer hour.  We finished the rosary then said the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.  Many happy toots during our prayer hour and only one car drove by with a girl yelling/screaming as loud as she could – “get a life!!!”   Such a sad, lost soul!!! From her lips to your ears, sweet Jesus -- please heal her hatred directed toward us -- Amen.  I gave out two of our flyers this evening, one to Mary Ann who prayed with me and another to a young mom who stopped by to talk for a bit with her mom in the front seat and a beautiful, precious, sweet, little baby girl in the back seat who smiled the whole time we were talking. This is why we Prayer Warriors are out here...because people stop by and ask us to never stop praying until this evil of abortion ends in our world. I promised her that we will be out here until that time... until the end of abortion or until we are called home by our Lord... she got tears in her eyes.    Andrea liked the way I set up my table with my crystal cross and three flickering candles, my angel who glows different colors, my file folder with our flyers in it and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy prayer pamphlets, my rosary & rosary booklet, my Prayer for the Helpless unborn and note pad/pen.  I'm totally covered for anything!
