Sunday, March 15, 2009 -- DAY 19
From Jenny P: Sunday, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. was a beautiful, sunny evening. When I arrived at the abortion clinic, there were seven Prayer Warriors there. Cindy and I prayed the rosary, sang the chaplet and the whole group started off with the Prayer for the unborn. A little black lady stopped by and asked if she could have a cross, so I gave her my red, white and blue rosary. Then, after she had walked by, Cindy decided to give her a little money and caught up to her and talked to her for a while. She said she lived in Detroit and was visiting her daughter out here but her daughter could not drive her home. She cried and cried when Cindy gave her some money. She told Cindy that she had a dream the other night -- our Lord told her that something nice was going to happen to her, so when I gave her my rosary and Cindy gave her some money, she just could not stop crying. Cindy came back and we finished the Chaplet. At first a car load of guys drove by and yelled but no one understood what they said... we just knew it wasn't nice so I said, "from their lips to your ears, my sweet Jesus." The police drove by and gave us the peace sign... so cool!! We got lots of happy toots during our prayer hour. Before I left for home, I stopped and bought a hot tea from the Chinese carry-out. The lady was very sweet to me. I'll keep ordering from the different places each day and hopefully others will too, so they can't say that we are ruining their business; plus I love Chinese food and Tubby's... so it's perfect for me. I'm going to get a menu from each place and order before I start my prayer hour and pick it up when I leave... excellent idea, Sue!!!
Sunday, March 15, 2009 – DAY 19
From Maribeth: The smile on my face was growing wider and wider as I arrived at the clinic around 1:00 p.m. There was a religious group from St. Sharbel walking up and down the sidewalk singing the Chaplet of Divine Mercy with their teacher, Gary. On one side of the grass were a couple of our faithful prayer warriors holding our beautiful banner (Sue K and Andrea G). A little ways away from the banner another group was forming…the sweet American Heritage Girls club (along with their families) from St. Anastasia (thanks Sue S. for organizing). As the rosary and chaplet were being prayed, the joy in my heart at the wonderful blessings of our Heavenly Father was rising. The youth and the little children, who were holding their signs so proudly, were speaking volumes to the public who passed us by. We received many thumbs up and happy toots! As it drew closer to 3:00 p.m., the crowd was getting even larger (yep, those blessings just keep coming!). Now my eyes were welling up with happy tears! Kevin and Brian (from St. Thecla) lead us in a Funeral Prayer Service for all the aborted babies from this clinic and surrounding clinics. The weather was perfect to be outside…the sky was filled with swirling clouds which, as Mary B noted, looked like little souls from Heaven coming down to hear our prayers for them. It was good to be there…to hear the beautiful voice of Brian as he guided us in song; to hear the truthful words of Kevin as he gave us courage to keep fighting the fight; our actions do not go unnoticed. All of our efforts in this fight to protect life are like a pebble in the water—ripple effects go on and on and on. We need to just keep doing what we are doing. We said a Hail Mary and a Glory Be for each year that abortion has been legal. That was so powerful. When it came to the year that my daughter was born, a pang hit my heart. It just made this fight for life so much more real. Thank you God for such a blessed day and for so many peaceful prayer warriors who take the stand for life at the clinic and at home!
Saturday, March 14, 2009 – DAY 18
From Jenny P: My prayer hour was totally blessed!!! A woman drove by, came back, stopped in front of me, made the sign of the cross toward me, smiled and said "thank you." Another man stopped in front of the clinic, said some prayers, then drove over to me, stopped, smiled, nodded and waved... and there were nothing but "happy toots" from those who drove by me. As the beautiful, sunny day turned into dusk then dark, I prayed my last 20 minutes in my car.
Saturday, March 14, 2009 – DAY 18
From Jill H: I arrived at the clinic around 10:15 a.m. with my friend Ann. It was her first time at the clinic. I warned her that we may get some people who curse us and give us the finger but we have many more supporters. When we arrived at our station, we met Janie and Jenny. I found out that Jenny and I have a lot in common. Thank you, Jenny, for sharing your story with me. Matt, Paul, and John also joined us in prayer. God was with us because we experienced many angry young men driving by. One shouted profanities and told us to "get a life" as he drove by and my heart sank. I pity him. He is missing the beauty of Christ in his life. How sad. There were many others who drove by in support of our efforts. Lord, please bring peace and forgiveness into the lives of all those who are violent towards us. Help us, Lord, to remember what You said, "Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you [falsely] because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus, they persecuted the prophets who were before you." (Matthew 5:10-12) Remember, my friends, we are in good company when we are persecuted. Look at Jesus; He is our role model. God bless you for following the path of the cross!
Friday, March 13, 2009 – DAY 17
From Sue K: This morning, as Bill and I were praying, a nervous, shy, young woman approached us. She wanted to thank us for praying to end abortion and to save babies. She said that our prayers had saved a baby of a friend. She did not want to talk long or in any detail, just right to the point. Seeing prayer warriors praying (outside of the clinic) with that peaceful witness to the sanctity of life saved a precious baby. Being meek is not weak! Oh the saving power of peaceful, prayerful witnesses. Also, there were only two mothers who entered the clinic today. Let us pray for these two women, and their accomplices -- that they may know the forgiving, healing power of God. Our first SAVE, that we learned about today, is the result of the steadfastness of our prayer warriors united in prayer. I wish that ALL of you had been there to rejoice with us. Praise God, Thank God!
[Sue made a wonderful point regarding our SAVE...just like Scripture tells us of the ten Lepers that were cured, but only ONE came back to thank Jesus; we, too, have affected many life decisions by our prayers and presence at the clinic. We were blessed to have one come back to tell us "thank you" and encourage us to continue our work -- the work that Jesus has asked us to do for Him. Isn't it exciting to know, that as we are being obedient to God's direction of defending the helpless, we get to share in His joy? Oh, another glimpse of Heaven!]
From Maribeth: Who says Friday the 13th isn't a good day??? We will never know how many lives have been changed by our peaceful, prayerful presence outside the clinic, but when God gives us this gift of "knowing" -- it truly is a time to rejoice and sing thankful praises to our most Glorious God!!! THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU COMMITTED PRAYER WARRIORS (at the clinic and at home) -- you are making a HUGE difference!
Friday, March 13, 2009 – DAY 17
From Jenny P: This evening it was a beautiful and sunny, although cold! But even though I was alone, I wanted to pray on the sidewalk. I set up my table as usual with my crystal cross surrounded by three little candles, my glowing angel and a pack of our flyers, a couple of rosaries and a couple Way of the Cross booklets from Resurrection Cemetery. I faced the clinic and began the Way of the Cross prayers with a short song after each one "were you there when they crucified my Lord." A couple of young gals walked by and smiled. I said hello and asked if they were aware of what we are praying for --- for the babies killed in the WomanCare clinic. They said yes, one had a rosary around her neck. I asked if they would like a flyer. They said yes, and I gave each one a flyer. They said they were for life and glad our group was praying there. I asked them to join us in prayer if they could. After they left, a woman drove up and said she sees us praying there each day and was wondering what group we were. I gave her a flyer to get more information and maybe sign up to pray with us. At the final prayers of The Way of the Cross, a van drove by and a man smiled. He parked and asked to join me. I said wonderful!!! He was Donald from St. Cyril/St. Methodius. (My dad's name was Donald...I said, Thank you, Daddy for sending me a Prayer Warrior to pray with me this evening.) Donald read the last few prayers of the Way of the Cross. We then said the rosary together, meditating on the Sorrowful Mysteries. A man drove by and asked us if we wanted hot chocolate... we said no thank you because we would be leaving shortly. After Donald left, I sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy then packed up to go home. A woman stopped by my car and asked if my shift was done. I said yes and I was pretty cold. She was meeting a few friends to pray. She said she had been there at 7:00 a.m. praying also. What a great night!! Hopefully, those I gave our flyer to will become prayer warriors and join us. That would be great if that happens!
Thursday, March 12, 2009 – DAY 16
From Jenny P: I arrived at the clinic about 6:50 p.m. and saw a few people getting signs out of their vehicles. (My heart said "yeah" -- I'll have St. Lawrence folks there with me so I won't have to be alone praying in my car.) It was 28 degrees but no wind at all and sunny out, but after 15 minutes you could feel the chill start getting into your bones, especially your hands. The group started out the evening with the Prayer for the Helpless Unborn. We then split up into two groups. There were eight people in the St. Lawrence group; two held our beautiful banner. They were going to say the rosary & I believe I heard some singing from their group as the hour went on. Our smaller group consisted of Jill, Matthew, Chris (it turns out he knows a friend of mine from St. Malachy's -- small world) and myself. We stood around my table on which I placed my crystal cross surrounded by the three flickering lights/Father, Son, Holy Ghost and my darling little angel who glows various colors. We said the rosary, Luminous Mysteries, with a meditation before each decade from my Rosary booklet and then sang after each decade, "Ave, Ave, Ave Maria -- Ave, Ave, Ave Maria --- Oh come Holy Spirit, fill our hearts, enkindle in us the fire of your love --- Come Holy Spirit, fill our hearts, enkindle in us, the fire of your love --- Whoever shall call you blessed, they will be blest, Immaculate Mary, mother of God --- Blessed are you, you show us the way, Mary our mother, teach us to pray." After the rosary, we sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy which brought us to the close of our prayer hour and man, we were totally freezing! I didn't hear any negative things from those driving by, just lots of happy toots. I usually don't look at the traffic lately... I really don't want to see the nasty gestures. I usually look at my cross or angel or at the beautiful flag flying across the street. It was so nice having a good group praying for our precious unborn this evening! It made the chilly weather easier to handle. As always, in our hearts were the special intentions of our prayers --- for the conversion of the doctors who perform the horrible, evil deed of abortion and for all others involved --- that our Lord would convert their hearts and souls to become men and women of life!! God bless and remember our precious God hears our prayers and is with us always! With God on our side, we need never fear anything!!
Wednesday, March 11, 2009 – DAY 15
From Jenny P/Norma R: We arrived at the clinic for the 7:00 p.m. prayer hour. It was 28 degrees and very windy. Since we didn't feel 100% health-wise, we decided to pray in the car. We blessed ourselves with holy water and sprinkled the sign of the cross on the ground next to the car. Norma brought her rosary cassette with beautiful reflections before each decade. We prayed the Joyful Mysteries, just beautiful! We sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and said the Prayer for the Helpless Unborn.
Two young women stopped by to talk with us, in their blue scrubs. They wanted to make sure that we knew that --- "we work in the dentist office, not upstairs!" (which is where the abortion clinic is.). One young woman was very pregnant and I (Jenny) placed my hand on her tummy and said "hello little one, we will pray for you." We all laughed. What a joyous feeling, this precious new life right there with us. I asked them if they wanted one of our flyers, both said yes. I asked them to check out our web site and to please join us in prayer when they can but especially at the Sunday Prayer Vigils. They said they would check it out. Two new prayer warriors, I hope! This is why we are out here. To pray for the unborn, for all involved with abortion --- that Our Lord will convert their hearts and souls to become men /women of life and also to meet/great people like these two young women who stopped in the cold, windy weather to talk with us and give us encouragement to keep praying always ... and we will!
I promised Our Lord a while ago that I would pray daily until abortion is unthinkable in our world or until He calls me home and tonight was another sign from Him (by these two women stopping by to uplift our spirits) that He hears our prayers always and will send us little signs every now and then to keep us uplifted! Thank you Lord!!
God bless all you on-site and home Prayer Warriors! Never feel discouraged! God hears our prayers always and is with us always! With God on our side, we need never fear anything!
Tuesday, March 10, 2009 -- DAY 14
From Jill H: I want to send out a big thank you to all those who were able to come out to St. Augustine Church in Richmond, Michigan for the 40 Days for Life Mass. Father Joe gave a powerful witness to our continued dedication to bringing awareness to abortion. He said a litany of prayers for the unborn and gave his blessing to all involved in 40 Days for Life. He has offered to say Mass again for the unborn perhaps in the Fall. Therefore, if you missed out this time, you still have a chance to join us for prayer and Mass for the unborn. It is a blessing to have a priest who is as dedicated to life and Jesus as he is! We must continue to pray for our clergy and religious leaders to be a strong witness to the truths of God. We must also pray for God to protect them because those who stand against the social norms are the most persecuted. Many of us have experienced it ourselves standing outside the abortion clinics, but we must wear these persecutions as a badge of honor. Every time we are persecuted for the sake of righteousness we give glory and honor to God.
Tuesday, March 10, 2009 -- DAY 14
From Jenny: When I arrived at the abortion clinic a little before 7:00 p.m. this evening, it looked like I would be alone in my car... but Cindy was standing next to a young woman in her car. She had a little baby sleeping in a car seat in the back and another little boy. We talked to her for about ten minutes. She had driven by Cindy and saw her holding the large picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe so she pulled in to talk to her. This young woman was really upset about what is happening in CT... the government trying to take over the Catholic Church. I don't have all the details. I think we calmed her down and told her that God is in charge and He will watch over His church. Cindy and I prayed the rosary under our umbrellas in the rain and chilly weather. I had my cross, candles and glowing angel on a table next to us with the Right to Life. I held my Pray For the End of Abortion sign and Cindy held the large picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Someone yelled something at us right at the start of our rosary... don't know what it was. We kept our focus on the rosary and the large American flag across the street. We had lots of happy toots from those driving by. After the rosary, Cindy had to leave to attend her grandson's birthday party...she is just too sweet!!! She knew I would be there praying so stopped by to say the rosary with me on the sidewalk. What a darling gal she is! In my car, I read the prayers of the Mass from my missal because I knew the 40 Days for Life Mass was going on in Richmond. I blessed myself and the ground then sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and said the Prayer for the Helpless Unborn then started another rosary with Fr. Payton/Dana. Carol stopped by and sat with me for a bit. She was so sad, just had gone to the funeral rosary for Fr. Val, a very holy priest who just died so we talked about that for a bit and about all the horrible things that are going on in our government against life!!! Lord, please heal our nation!!!!!
Monday, March 9, 2009 -- DAY 13
From Len G: It was very heart-warming to meet Jenny and Cindy last evening at the clinic. The cold weather was easier to stand in once someone else shows up as it's then that we realize how many of us are in this thing through thick and thin (and cold and rain). Thanks for lifting my spirits last night. Amazing how the Holy Spirit brings us all together.
Monday, March 9, 2009 -- DAY 13
From Jenny G: During my scheduled prayer time, I met Lenny G from St. Peters in Mt.Clemens at the clinic. He said he knows Mary R and some from RTL. Anyways, it was so cold, but he was nice enough to stay with me while we said the rosary and then Cindy G showed up. I have met so many thoughtful, kind, prayerful people through 40 Days for life! I had the usual crystal cross and candles and signs. Right away, we had a young man flip us off from the passenger's side of a car going by as soon as Cindy and I started praying --- but immediately after that, across the street, a car load of young men honked and all gave us the thumbs up. A couple of young gals drove by and flipped us off a little later but, again, many waves and happy toots were given to us all night long. The positive people always outweigh the negative... thank You Jesus. Now I remember to say, "From them to You, my sweet Jesus" for nasty gestures, and "from their lips to Your ears, my sweet Jesus" for nasty things that are yelled at us... that way I pray for those poor, lost souls instead of getting angry. And, after all this time, it really does not bother me anymore. That is nothing compared to what Jesus went through for the sins of all of us... so I can most definitely handle it!
Today, as we celebrate the women who "regret their abortions and are silent no more" along with the men who "regret lost fatherhood due to abortion and are silent no more" I know that there are many throughout this world of ours who are praying for lots more conversions. After Mass/Rosary/Chaplet this morning at St. Malachy's, I mentioned to all the faithful Prayer Warriors who were there to pray all day for these folks and those who still need conversion/healing.
Sunday, March 8, 2009 -- DAY 12
From Mary G: I came to the clinic on Sunday but it was pouring so I stayed in my car to pray. I just kept looking at the clinic and how there is so much death and evil there. I kept pleading with our Lord for his mercy for the doctors and nurses working there along with all the women and men who have had abortions and who will have them. I than said The Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and asked our Blessed Mother to place the doctors and nurses and mothers and fathers under the protection of Her Mantle.
Sunday, March 8, 2009 -- DAY 12
From Ray D: I attended the 5:00 to 6:00 time slot on Sunday. I was joined in prayer with a parisioner from St Malachy. She was kind enough to lead us in praying the rosary and divine mercy chaplet despite the driving rain and umbrella-flipping wind. We know God will answer our prayers if it is His will. We just do not know exactly how He will answer them. We do hope some babies lives are spared!
Sunday, March 8, 2009 – DAY 12
From Jenny P: I arrived at the clinic at 5:00 p.m. It was really, really windy, rainy, and chilly. Two prayer warriors were leaving. Cindy stopped by and sat in my car for a bit and told me that they had four prayer warriors during their prayer time -- herself, her sister Annette, Annette's daughter Jessica & Mary Agnes -- a prayer warrior from Yale, Michigan. Besides the "positive toots," some guy leaned half way out his window & yelled some not-so-nice words at the girls. The girls took it as blessings for them in heaven for being treated so badly like that. Poor souls like this young man need double prayers I think. One lady told me just to say this when nasty things are yelled at us, "from their lips to your ears, Sweet Jesus." That's a good idea... then you don't have time to get angry because you are praying for the poor, lost soul who just yelled at you.
When Cindy left, I blessed myself with holy water and made the sign of the cross out of my window. I prayed a little bit of the rosary with my Fr. Payton/Dana cassette. I had my crystal cross with the three flickering candles and my angel who glows different colors on my dash in front of me. The Right to Life sign in my front window and Pray To End Abortion sign in rear window. Well, another prayer warrior showed up so I joined him. He and I prayed the rest of the hour together. His name is Ray D. He is from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dearborn Heights. We said the rosary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and ended with the Prayer for the Helpless Unborn. He held a sign "Pray To End Abortion" and I held my glowing angel and my rosary. The wind was TOTALLY STRONG! At times it felt like our umbrellas were going to break, but we stood our ground and completed the prayer hour --- be gone Satan!!! You can't beat us 40 Days for Life Prayer Warriors! We have God on our side! We had many happy toots, thumbs up and waves from those driving by us in the rainy, windy storm.
Saturday, March 7, 2009 – DAY 11
From Jenny P: It was really rainy, windy night with lots of lightening, so I prayed in my car, my usual routine. Blessed myself with holy water & sprinkled some on the ground next to my car. I was in a singing mood due to all the great songs we sang at 5:00 p.m. Mass, so I said/sang three rosaries with my Fr. Payton/Dana cassette. Any car driving by could see/hear me saying the rosary for the end of abortion due to my signs in front & back windows & crystal cross on my dash, candles aglow.
Saturday, March 7, 2009 – DAY 11
From Margaret B: Despite the cold, damp, rainy weather those St. Lawrence troopers held their own. I admire their dedication. We prayed the Rosary and the Chaplet from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. We had a turn out of fifteen men, women, and children. There was a man that showed up out of nowhere and thanked us for being out there praying for life. He was very grateful.
Saturday, March 7, 2009 -- DAY 11
From Jill H: Today I arrived at the clinic at 10:00 a.m. The devil was trying desperately to discourage me from participating for my assigned vigil. When I arrived at the clinic it was cloudy, damp, cold, and rainy. I went to the van and got the 40 Days sign. I met another warrior who was returning prayer material after her vigil. She was soaked and so were the prayer materials. She set them in the van to dry. Meanwhile I grabbed the 40 Days sign and dropped my glove in a puddle of water. Then I walked to my station in the rain with one soaked glove. I stood on the sidewalk holding my sign with one soaked glove praying the Rosary. The clinic appeared closed. Praise Jesus! A couple folks drove by in support with thumbs up. God bless them! Thank God I did not experience any angry people on my watch. However, while praying the Rosary I looked down at my beads and noticed the crucifix was missing. It was there when I started my vigil so I was pretty surprised. I prayed to the Lord and for St. Anthony's intercession to help me find it. There was the cross lying in the water with mud and dirt. I picked it up, dusted it off, put it in my pocket, and got out my spare Rosary with cross still intact. By this time, both my gloves were soaked it was lightening and little hail pellets fell from the sky. However, I was not giving up my station until I prayed one Rosary and one Divine Mercy Chaplet. I had to remove my gloves because they were no use. My hands started to go numb and they hurt really badly. I thought how pitiful am I. Our Lord suffered so much for me and nails were driven into His precious hands and feet. How full of complaints am I just to suffer a little bit. As I prayed, I envisioned Jesus on the cross with Mary and the women and the disciple Jesus loved. I imagined that Good Friday must have looked a lot like the weather today dark, cold, with suffering and death in the air -- except there was hope and peace in that moment -- the peace that Christ gave to all those who believe that He came to draw all people to Himself. He is the victor even now. With Christ there is always hope that is why I know that our prayers are heard. I know what we are doing is making a positive difference. We may not get national media coverage but all of heaven knows what we do. That is what matters most.
After about 40 minutes I was a soggy mop of a mess. I headed back to my vehicle, put my sign away, got in my car, and drove to the clinic to pray inside my car for the rest of my time slot. My hands hurt and I lifted up the pain for the suffering little ones. They suffer much more than me. If my suffering can bring one person to choose life today, it is worth it and I will do it again. As I sat in my car outside the clinic, I noticed a young man looking around towards the clinic. He got out of his car with a black umbrella and stood station right in front of the store front. I figured he must have been my relief prayer warrior. I walked over to him and told him that we have to stand on the public easement or sidewalk. Then I showed him to the van where the signs are. We gave each other a short introduction. He is Brian from Warren. I thanked him for taking over for me and for praying for life. As I left he said, "God bless you." I prayed for him as I left the clinic and gave him a thumbs up as I drove by. Thank you, Brian, for being a witness for Jesus and Life!
Saturday, March 7, 2009 – DAY 11
From Maribeth: Wowser Wow! Thank You Jesus! When I arrived at the clinic around 8:00 a.m., my eyes took in the most wondrous surprise – about 30 prayer warriors gathered together praying! Even though the clinic was closed (another thank You Jesus), we made a definite impression on the public and other businesses in the strip mall. We received many happy toots from cars driving by and one gentleman and his family dropped off a case of water for all of us. (The remaining bottles are in the van for other prayer warriors.) We used our official banner and looked, well, very official. A police officer came by and said someone called in that we were "blocking the driveway" -- however he didn't notice us doing that at all and told us to carry on. What a blessing that was!! A little while later, a lady drove up and said it was "sad to have children stand out in this weather and that we were crazy." If she would have just looked at the smiles and joy on the children's faces--they were not unhappy at all -- they were taking a stand for what they believed in...along with their families. Thank you to the St. Mary’s Life group from New Baltimore for coming such a distance and praying and singing for several hours in the cold rain – all for the babies, conversion of the abortion workers and many other pro-life issues! Yes, God is so good to us!!
Friday, March 6, 2009 – DAY 10 (morning)
From Sue K: (A group from Lakeside Assembly of God gathered; headed by Deacon Tom) We read and reflected on several Daily Devotionals, from 40 Days. They are filled with Bible, prayer, reflection and encouraging thoughts. Nealy (Tom’s wife), made hot chocolate in a large thermos and brought along cups to share warmth and hospitality with everyone. She is an exceptional lady. Taking loving care of her 3 month old son, Samuel, and preparing hot chocolate was so very thoughtful. May her kindness bring many blessings to her family.
Friday, March 6, 2009 – DAY 10
From Jenny P: When I got to the clinic, Annette was getting the baby stroller out for the little guy & her sister Cindy joined us. A short time later, Nick joined us. It was a beautiful, warm evening. We said the rosary & sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. (FYI: Annette called the baby's father to bring a bottle for him. When he arrived, I heard my name called out - Oh my gosh!!! It turns out that my second cuz is the father of the baby. I had no idea - never made the connection. Annette & Cindy & I have been friends since our Fall Campaign last year & now I find out the we are "related - sisters" due to that precious little baby being born into their family. Wow, such a blessed night... to find out something so beautiful as that!!!)
Thursday, March 5, 2009 - DAY 9
From Jenny P: When I got to the clinic this evening, Carol was there, so I joined her in her car. We blessed ourselves with holy water and sprinkled some on the ground on either side of her car --- every little sacramental helps against the evil one! We prayed a beautiful Novena to the Blessed Mother until 7:20 when she had to leave. She had been there for an hour and a half. Even though it was 55 out it was very windy and as I was alone, I prayed in my car. Cars drove by, slowed down and could see I was praying for the end of abortion due to my signs in the front/back windows and my crystal cross w/candles aglow. When I got back to my car I said the Prayer for the Helpless Unborn, Rosary with the Fr. Payton/Dana cassette, and then sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. I prayed for this clinic to "go pro-life" and all affiliated with it to be converted to pro-life. At the end of my prayer hour I was half way through another rosary so I finished it up on my way home.
Wednesday, March 4, 2009 - DAY 8
From Jenny P: This evening, Wednesday, I arrived and saw a prayer warrior pulling away... who came back to say hello. It was Kathy all the way from Rochester.. She and another prayer warrior had prayed together from 5-6pm, and then she stayed herself to pray until my pledge hour began at 7p.m. (Gals, when its getting dark, please pray in your cars... a van can pull up to you and scoop you away in seconds... just be aware, there are some "not so nice" people out there.. OK? Thank you!!!) Norma joined me during the 7:00 p.m. prayer hour. We said a rosary, sang the chaplet and said a novena for the unborn. Both of us had a touch of a cold so stayed in my car. As always, those driving by my car could see my crystal cross surrounded by three candles flickering, the 40 Days for Life "Pray for the End of Abortion" sign in my back window and the Right To Life sign in the front window. After the blessing with Holy water, Norma and I prayed for our dear Lord to convert the heart of President Obama. I feel with all my heart and soul that our great nation is going down the path toward the evil one and we need to pray for healing of our nation.
Wednesday, March 4, 2009 - DAY 8
From Dianne B: I arrived at the clinic at approximately 11:00 am on Wednesday morning. Mary F., Ellen, Kathy, Shirley, Martha and her father, were already there. They informed me that the doctor had already left for the day and that a number of people had come and gone. Maybe this day was for consultations or to schedule "the procedure." Another prayer joined us, Joe, who came on his lunch time and later Stephanie, who drives all the way from north of Port Huron! At approximately 11:45 am, a large white truck pulled into the parking lot and drove up to the side of the building and stopped. The driver got out and ran up the stairs to the clinic. A sober, yet quiet panic grew within each one of us as we "knew" what he was there for and what we were about to witness. We began to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy together while we intently watched for his return and... we prayed in earnest. Our eyes went between the truck, which had Louisiana license plates, and the window of the clinic. Moments later, we saw as he came down the stairs carrying a red, approximately 50 gallon Rubbermaid-type container. He walked to the back of his truck and opened the door. As the door slid up, we saw inside many other similar containers. The driver tossed this one in, and pulled the door closed, and hopped back into the driver's seat. Printed on the back of the truck were the words: "Registered Medical Waste." I can't fully explain the solemn, painful emotions that we experienced and the powerful, grave impression this has left with me ... and I am sure the others. I felt that we had watched a horrific "funeral" where there was no dignity or honor given to those who had lost their lives. I recently read, "All life deserves to be honored, no matter how short it's time on earth." And these precious lives were being referred to as "Registered Medical Waste." I was filled with such sorrow. We couldn't take our eyes off of this truck as he drove away and made two other stops at local medical/dental offices. We prayed again in earnest for the driver. We all came away from this experience profoundly changed. Mary F.'s e-mail later that day to me summed up our feelings: "An emotional day. I know the pain I feel. I can only imagine how God must feel............"
Tuesday, March 3, 2009 - DAY 7
From Jenny P: This evening I prayed in my car alone. I did my usual Prayer for the Helpless Unborn, Rosary with my Fr. Payton/Dana cassette, then sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for the conversion of all involved with the abortion industry.
Monday, March 2, 2009 - DAY 6
From Jenny P: I arrived at the clinic at 6:50p.m....chilly & windy...12 degrees. Carol was praying in her car...getting over "the bug" that most of us have had recently. Sasha and Nancy (who comes all the way from Rochester) were out praying on the lawn and had been there for over an hour. The three of us said the start of the rosary together with my crystal cross on my little table in front of us with candles flickering. When they had to leave, I returned to my car and finished the rosary with Fr. Payton leading/Dana singing after each decade, my crystal cross shining in the flickering candles on my dash... then I sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and said another rosary. I always start off with blessing myself with holy water and sprinkling the sign of the cross on the ground next to my car... every sacramental act against the evil one helps I believe. I prayed for all involved with abortion and most especially that our Lord would convert the heart of this clinic's doctor to change this clinic to a truly "WomanCare" clinic by offering PRO-LIFE help. Wouldn't that be a wonderful miracle from our Lord??? Just standing out there for that short time made my hands burn...I offered it up for the babies that are torn apart and for the mothers/fathers who are so misguided in believing that is okay to do this to their precious little ones. Dear Lord, I beg You to please convert the hearts of the men/women involved in abortion in any way, those who are contemplating abortion at this clinic and all over our world and also please convert the heart of President Obama and the hearts of all the other pro-abortion men/women leading this great nation of ours down the path toward the evil one. Amen.
Monday, March 2, 2009 - DAY 6
From John B: A gentleman dropped off a $20 gift card from the 7-11 for the people who are praying at the clinic. He wanted to support the effort by giving a hot drink to those who are praying. I'll put that in the van in an envelope. From my experience, there have definitely been more positive responses than negative from people driving past the clinic. Also, not sure why, but the people who seem to be the most negative, even hateful, are young men.
Sunday, March 1, 2009 - DAY 5
From Jenny P: It was a really cold night tonight -- 13 degrees and pretty windy. I was alone so I prayed in my car. Again, half a dozen or so people went by and saw my 40 Days for Life "Pray For The End of Abortion" sign in my back window and the Right To Life sign in the front window. I also had my crystal cross w/flickering lights around it and my crystal "Footsteps" vase w/candles flickering inside. I prayed my first rosary with my Fr. Payton/ Dana cassette --- then sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy --- then said another rosary for all those involved with abortion and for parents who are contemplating abortion this week at this clinic and all others in our world. At 4:00 p.m. this afternoon I knew I was not going to be done work in time to be at the clinic from 5:00 to 6:00 which is my Sunday hour prayer pledge... but knew I would be able to be there from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. so I decided to fast through dinner and eat when I got home from the clinic... that little twinge of hunger pain made me think of the little babies being aborted and how horrid their pain must be...brought tears to my eyes. About ten minutes into my first rosary, a van pulled up a couple parking spaces away from me facing the clinic, stayed there for a little bit --- then waved when they drove past my car --- probably other prayer warriors praying for the end of abortion at this clinic. That was nice!!!
Sunday, March 1, 2009 - DAY 5
From Ellen: I arrived just before Sue K left (and she was really frozen after two hours!). I was then joined by a Knights of Columbus prayer warrior (I think his name was Larry). He said he would stay as long as he could, weather permitting -- I said he could do it and, by golly, he stayed for two hours God bless him! More prayer warriors arrived -- Marilyn D (stayed for two hours also); then, Oraha and Eleanor (who writes for the Marian newsletter) prayed the rosary and the Divine Mercy in her car -- it was so cold!! More people kept coming out! The Lord sent some sun for us but the wind was really cold. We lifted the signs to our face to keep the wind off. The Lord blessed us Prayer Warriors for staying and saying our rosaries.
