LOCAL NEWS about 40 Days for Life

From Maribeth:  IT WAS COLDER THAN COLD...(note to self:  Maribeth, it IS winter!!).  When I arrived, Ellen was already out in front and battling with Jack Frost.  We stayed outside as long as we could (45 minutes for me...a little over an hour for Ellen!).  The most joyous news....the abortion clinic had no business this Saturday--nor did it the last two Saturdays!  After we said a closing prayer, I stayed in my car to pray the Rosary and Paul drove up and joined me.  Then Tim drove up and we went back outside to pray.  A little while later, Jill joined us.  Then we had a fellow prayer warrior from Waterford stop by.  Dolores told us that the clinic she prays in front of is also a Dr. Hodari clinic and he was there that morning (arrgh!).  We are blessed that Dolores will be taking our 40 Days information back to her area!  Thank You God, it was so heartwarming to see so many prayer warriors come out that morning.  I drove by the clinic later in the afternoon and it was still closed...another  thank You God!   peace and blessings!

From Maribeth:
Jenny, Norma and myself gathered at the clinic for prayer this evening.  It was quite chilly so we stayed inside Jenny's car to lift up our heartfelt prayers to our Heavenly Father.  The "Choose Life" signs were posted in the snow and the crystal Cross was glistening from the flickering candles.  Everyone who went by knew what our purpose was tonight.  As the snowflakes gently fell to the earth, we asked God for intervention on behalf of those women who would be choosing to end the life of their child, especially this Friday/Saturday.  We lifted up the workers in the abortion field; asking that they would receive a conviction in their heart from the Holy Spirit to choose life over death.  We asked for direction in words to educate family and friends about the truth of abortion and how we truly are our brother's keeper.  Jenny shared some exciting and encouraging news from her sister in California (she will share it with us on Monday night at our Team Meeting -- yep, this is why we do what we do!!)  We prayed for the Helpless Unborn and prayed the Rosary; ending with the singing of the Divine Chaplet of Mercy.  Thank you Jesus, for bringing us together and being in the midst of our prayers.  We also thank You, Mighty Lord, for being with all the prayer warriors who were praying with us from home.  God Bless!

Thursday, January 22, 2009 -- the sad 36th Anniversary of Roe vs. Wade

From Maribeth:  Eight of us gathered (Jenny P, Norma, Marian, Jill H, Sue K, Cindy, Lynn R, and Maribeth) on this somber day to mark the remembrance of all the babies killed at this clinic over the past years.  It was cold, but our little corner was filled with Choose Life signs and warm candlelight which flickered off the mounds of snow.   We began with the Prayer for the Helpless Unborn and then shared some prayers/reflections before starting the Rosary.  Around 7:30 p.m. while we were still reciting the Rosary, a bird (assuming a pigeon) circled around the top of the clinic three times -- its wings were glistening from the light and it sure looked pure white.  It then suddenly disappeared.  After our prayer, we checked with each other ... "Did you see that?"  "Was that a white bird? Where did it come from and where did it go?  It is so dark out here."  We thanked our Glorious God for His Presence in the beauty and quietness of that bird.   Our next round of praying continued while we piled into two cars (brrrrr) and we ended our evening singing America songs.  We couldn't be in Washington, D.C. today, but we shared in all the prayers that were sent from the heart.  Yes, we have a battle to fight.  We need to be prepared to fend off all the fiery darts our enemy is preparing to shoot at us.  As we fill up on Jesus, we are ready.  We are even more prepared to fight the good fight and make inroads to save one child and woman at a time. God Bless all of our faithful prayer warriors for 40 Days for LIFE!

From Maribeth:  Twas another chilly and snowy day at the clinic.  There were several cars already in place when I arrived at 8:00 a.m.  Margaret, Ellen, Jill, Sue, Barb and myself "kept watch" and prayed for those unwanted children.  Around 9:00 a.m. the doctor arrived.  From the public we got our usual share of nasty gestures and yellings; however, the waves and thumbs up tipped the scales!  On a side note, I told Sue that if I complain this summer about it being too hot, smack me.  Oh, how we longed for warmer temperatures -- our toes were about to fall off!  At 9:30 a.m. the doctor left -- munching on his chocolate covered donut and smiling.  I cannot even tell you how disgusted I was in seeing that display of arrogance -- it is one thing to be arrogant over wordly possessions, but to have that aire after you have just killed children???  Arrgh.     I have been praying a really, really, big prayer -- that somehow our humble little group would find the means to lease the empty Dollar Store which is a few doors down from the clinic.  I can picture the welcoming set up inside and having all the information the women and men need to make a GOOD choice -- and maybe even an ultrasound machine (yeah, told you it was a really big prayer).  I'm not giving up on that dream until someone else takes over that vacant spot!

From Jenny P:  Norma and I covered the abortion clinic with an hour of prayer this evening. We put up two "choose life" signs...in front of the choose life sign facing traffic we put a short table with my crystal cross on it, a candle in a tall clear bottle, and a bunch of small battery operated candles all around it...looked real nice.   We sat in the car... pretty cold out there and we don't want to get sick.  We started of with the prayer for the helpless unborn, said the rosary along with my cassette/Joyful mysteries for the joy of moms & dads who will choose life for their babies, then Norma led the Sorrowful mysteries for the sorrow of those babies who will be aborted at the clinic as well as around the world... with a song after each decade from my prayer booklet from the helpers of the precious unborn, then ended with the prayer for the helpless unborn again.  We asked all the aborted babies to pray along with us for this clinic to close up and reopen as a pro-life, help to women, clinic.

Saturday Morning, January 3, 2009

From Maribeth:  I arrived at the clinic around 8:00 a.m. to find a couple prayer warriors (Time and Margaret), several police officers, a full parking lot, and the doctor already at the clinic.  Lately, no staff has shown up at the clinic until after 9:00 a.m. so this was a surprise.  The police officers were very adament in their chastising us -- telling us that we are not to speak to any of the clients (I find this hard to believe) and to just "keep to our praying."  From what I understand, one of the clients was speaking with Tim for 20 minutes before going into the clinic.  She led him to believe she wasn't here to go to the clinic and they engaged in a friendly conversation about pro-life issues.  Well, once the clinic opened, she marched up the stairs and must have complained; hence, the arrival of the police officers.  This is the third or fourth time they have come out in the last two months.  I asked the officer if we could offer the women/men information, like they do at other clinics, and was given a very firm NO or we will all be sent home.  (Not sure if they were pushing the envelope because they are getting tired of being called out here or if some new law has begun.)  I'm not buying that new "rule" of no talking and will look into this.  There were many couples entering the facility.  We prayed for all of them and for the staff.  We had many prayer warriors come out to take a stand for life in the freezing weather:  Maria, Barb, Carol, Tim, Margaret, Jill, Ellen, Paul, myself and....we were so blessed to have Tom and his family join us:  his wife, daughter and newborn son!!   What a beautiful family and what a statement it made to all those who came to the clinic.  One of the men who brought a woman to the clinic kept mocking us and laughing; even after his companion came down looking quite distraught and in pain.  Another woman brought her daughter in to choose death for her grandchild.  I will never get used to this kind of choosing...it just breaks my heart.  I don't understand how the law can tell us that we cannot do or say anything to help the innocent babies or women...if we were to stand by and watch a toddler go into the street, we would certainly be admonished for our neglectful ways.  Oh how we have mixed up our priorities!  Thank you to all of you for your prayers and presence!!!

Thursday, January 1, 2009 (New Year's Day evening)

From Jenny P:  Norma and I prayed at the clinic tonight.  We put up two "choose life" signs with candles and my crystal cross so that cars passing by would see.  It was just too cold to stand outside.  (Guess we will have to dress moocho warmer when the next 40 days campaign begins.)   We covered the clinic with prayer, songs and some holy water in the sign of the cross next to my car... so hopefully no abortions will happen there tomorrow or Saturday... wouldn't that be just wonderful! Also hope that place changes to a "pro-life" clinic. God can do all things!!!!

We said these following prayers for our precious, unborn babies:   1) Prayer for the Helpless Unborn -- Heavenly Father, in Your love for us, protect against the wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones to whom You have given the gift of life.  Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant in our world today who are not thinking of motherhood.  Help them to see that the child they carry is made in Your image - as well as theirs - made for eternal life.  Dispel their fear and selfishness and give them true womanly hearts to love their babies and give them birth and all the needed care that a mother alone can give.  We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, on God, forever and ever. Amen.2) The Holy Rosary; 3) The Chaplet of Divine Mercy in song; and, 4) we ended with the Prayer for the Helpless Unborn.
