Ellen was praying with a family at the 40 Days for Life vigil in Phoenix ? a family that included a 4-year-old boy.

?He was so precious in his intensity as each couple went in, and so crushed when they failed to accept our offers of assistance,? she said. ?He kept asking his mom why they didn?t respond to us.?

She simply told him that we need to continue to love them.

?It is all too easy to conclude,? Ellen said, ?that our prayers are not heard, and that since we often don?t see the results of our work, we have not accomplished anything.?

She recalled something Bishop Thomas Olmsted had said prior to the campaign: ?We should not worry if it seems we don?t have enough words to say, or convincing actions to perform. God?s work is being done.?

?Please join us on the sidewalk as your schedule allows,? Ellen said. ?We need your voice, your presence and your prayers.?
