From February 22 to April 1, 2012, our community will be one of many cities around the world joining together for a faith-filled, groundbreaking, coordinated pro-life movement.
40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life effort that consists of:
- 40 days of prayer and fasting - 40 days of peaceful vigil - 40 days of community outreach
We are praying that with God's help, this groundbreaking effort will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our city and throughout Australia.
Since the first 40 Days for Life campaign was held in 2004, internationally:
- Over 5000 children have been spared from abortion (and these are just the ones we know about!)
- Over 60 abortion workers have quit their jobs;
- 19 abortion facilities have completely shut down; and
- Numerous women (and men too) are finding healing & forgiveness after having experienced an abortion.
There is much you can do, and this is where we need your help and involvement in the 40 Days for Life Melbourne campaign. Can you spare an hour, or two, or more, to pray for the life of a baby? The life you save through prayer will be made known to you in heaven.
Will you respond to "The Call"

Take a stand for life
While all aspects of 40 Days for Life are crucial in our effort to end abortion, the most visible component is the peaceful prayer vigil outside the abortion facility.
You can help make a life-saving impact by joining our local vigil at:

East Melbourne 3002
Tram: number 48-Flinders St/North Balwyn line; number 75-Flinders St/ East Burwood line

Can you help us with the upcoming campaign?
We are looking for volunteers in a number of roles to help fulfill our plans for the upcoming 2012 campaign. Key roles include:
- Church contact: to help promote the campaign by approaching your local Priest or Pastor with our 40 Days for Life Melbourne promotional packs.
- Vigil volunteer: to sign up for regular timeslots to help staff the vigil with a constant presence, and to be there as a guide to support anyone that comes to pray.
Please email or call us for more information. If you have other skills that you would like to volunteer, or if you can help with co-ordinating events, speaking at church services, graphic design, database entry, or have contacts in organisations that may be interested in helping spread the word about the campaign, please feel free to approach us anytime.

In October 2008, the Victorian Parliament passed the Abortion Reform Bill to make abortion legal right up to the day of birth, for any reason.
Every single proposed amendment was rejected including pain relief for the baby during any stage of development, but a legal requirement for pre-term animals used in medical trials!! The right of doctors and nurses to refuse to assist women in procuring an abortion was denied them making our Victorian abortion laws amongst the most extreme in the western world. See this short video clip "A story about life" to learn about what was introduced in Victoria. http://www.prolife.org.au/videos.php
In Australia, the number of abortions that occur each day is equivalent to an average enrolment of an entire primary school of children! It is a tragedy that 1 in 4 pregnancies end with abortion in Australia. Chances are, someone you know has had an abortion or been affected by one.
We, as a community, must pray for a change in hearts and act now to save lives and to bring healing and hope.
