Do practicing Christians think abortion is OK?

Planned Parenthood wants you to think so and often plays the God card by trotting out pro-choice clergy who claim abortion is a gift from above.

But new research on what active churchgoers actually think about abortion is out, and it will surprise you. Recently on The 40 Days for Life Podcast, we discussed:

  • How many churchgoers actually identify as pro-choice;
  • The number of practicing Christians who have had--or have been involved in--an abortion;
  • What are Christians learning about abortion in the pews? And what do they want to learn?

Richmond, Virginia

In a tremendous show of Christian unity, Catholics, Baptists, Greek Orthodox, Presbyterians, Pentecostals, and a number of Evangelical churches were represented on the sidewalk outside the Richmond Planned Parenthood.

"We began the morning with the song 'Holy, Holy, Holy' and ended with the hymn 'Amazing Grace,' reported Barbara Constable, who led the Richmond campaign prior to joining the 40 Days for Life headquarters team. "Clergy from the area opened and closed us in prayer."

Meanwhile, representatives from both the Catholic diocese and Students for Life addressed attendees.

"In Mark 10:13-16, Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these,'" Barbara reflected. "We need to be the rescue squad. We need to be present on the sidewalk to pray for and intercede for these little ones."

Indianapolis, Indiana

40 Days for Life outreach director and former Planned Parenthood manager Ramona Trevino visited the Indianapolis Planned Parenthood, which is NOT doing abortions!

"What was once the largest abortion facility in Indiana is now a referral facility thanks to the overturning of Roe," Ramona said. "The crowd was inspired and motivated to keep vigil in front of this facility as long as Planned Parenthood is still selling abortions there."

Ramona was inspired by Linda, the Indianapolis campaign leader, whose apostolate acquired and is renovating a house to serve as a pregnancy help center!

When Herod realized that he had been deceived by the magi, he became furious. He ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had ascertained from the magi.”

--Matthew 2:16

Lord, we pray that you bless all lawmakers with the courage of the magi. We ask that you bestow wisdom and good judgment on those who serve in government. Give them the strength to do what is right and the courage to risk their careers to protect the unborn. Help them to use their positions of authority to cherish and defend life in America. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
