From September 25 to November 3, our community will take part in 40 Days for Life … a groundbreaking, coordinated international mobilization. We pray that, with God’s help, this will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our city — and beyond.
Public right-of-way outside
Lakeland Women's Health Center
4444 South Florida Avenue
Parking is available behind Executive Plaza at 4404 S. Florida Ave. Park near the fence and walk through breezeway to front sidewalk. Walk 1/2 block south to Women's Health Center. Do not stand on Horizon Drive. You must stand on the sidewalk and stay off the grass. Do not block sidewalk from pedestrians. Watch out for bicycles. I recommend you stand toes to the edge of the grass to be as far away from traffic as possible unless you are pacing.
A sign and a bag with prayers, instructions and outreach handouts is available at Options for Women, 4435 Florida National Drive (which runs behind the Wells Fargo Bank on the corner of S. Florida Ave. and W Highland Drive.) Options is open Mon. and Tues. 11-4, Wed. 10-3, Thurs. 1-6 and Fridays 10-2. HOWEVER, please pick up bag and sign ONLY after 3 PM. Do so quietly as there may be clients still in the building. Avoid conversations about abortion, 40 DFL or the Lakeland Women's Health Center.
The Wells Fargo Bank is directly across S. Florida Ave. from the TD Bank .
Bags and signs will also be available at A Woman's Choice Pregnancy Help Center, 1234 E. Lime Street, Lakeland. Phone: 863-683-2341. The hours at A Women's Choice are: Mon, Tues, Wed. 10-4, Thur. 10-7, and Fri. 10-2. Please be cognizant of of the clients who may be present in the building and refrain from discussions of abortion, Lakeland Women's Health Clinic, or 40 Days for Life. If you have difficulty accessing materials from either location please contact me prior to going to the vigil site. I will do my best to get these to you.
Please be sure to read the instruction page in the bag, which includes my phone number and that of the Lakeland Police Dept. detective assigned to us in case a problem should arise. On the back of the instruction page there are suggestions for sidewalk counseling should you have the opportunity. However, feel free to stand silently in prayer, especially if verbally challenged at any time
Please note the white bag is for YOU and the ziplock bags inside contain the outreach materials should be offered/given to abortion minded women entering the clinic if given the opportunity. Give them the whole ziplock as it contains candy, information on the development of the baby, a model, and directions to the pregnancy help centers.
Your white bag contains a book mark for Rachel's Vineyard. This is to offer to a post abortive woman. There is also a flyer inside about Abortion Pill Reversal--RU486. When a woman leaves the clinic with a small brown/white paper bag, she has taken the first pill. If you can, tell her if she changes her mind, don't take the second pill and go to AbortionPillReversal.com or give her the flyer.
If you need additional outreach bags, please contact me.
Please return unused bags/signs to either A Woman's Choice or Options for Women pregnancy help center or to me at the end of the campaign. These will be used year round by sidewalk advocates on Wed. and Fridays when abortions take place. If you would like to become a sidewalk advocate year round, please keep your bag and sign and contact me for more information.
