The news out of London today is nothing but disappointing.
At a court hearing today, the lawyer for Charlie's parents shared the news that hope appears extremely thin for the seriously-ill 11-month-old boy.
"The parents' worst fears have been confirmed," he told the judge. "It is now too late to treat Charlie."
An international show of support for Charlie and his parents demonstrated love and concern for a young child who had had the system turn its back on him.
The prospect of experimental treatment in the United States allowed for a glimmer of hope. But the doctor who examined Charlie said it appeared there was nothing that could be done, as Charlie has irreversible muscle damage.
His mother told the court, "A whole lot of time has been wasted. We only wanted to give him a chance at life. We are sorry we could not save you."
Charlie's parents have begun to look into establishing a foundation in his memory, "so Charlie's voice continues to be heard." For now, they just want to queitly spend as much time with Charlie as possible.
For a complete update and recap on all of the events that led up to Charlie's fate listen to this 40 Days for Life podcast episode.
Thank you for you ongoing prayers for Charlie and his parents ... and we can only ask that you continue to ask the Lord to hold them in His hands in the days and weeks ahead.
