We'll get to appreciation and hope in a bit ... but unfortunately, I have to tell you about events that unfolded recently in Great Britain ... events that can only be seen as a travesty.
Pray for Alfie Evans' family
You may have seen the story of Alfie Evans in the news ? a British toddler who was at the center of a battle involving a hospital, the government and his parents.
The hospital had declared Alfie to be terminally ill, even though the cause of his condition was never diagnosed. His parents wanted to take him out of the country for treatment, but the hospital ? backed by the government ? refused to allow them to remove their son.
Pope Francis offered to help, and Italy even granted the sick boy Italian citizenship so he could receive treatment in Rome.
Alas, the British hospital disconnected life support ? over his parents' objections ? and young Alfie passed away over the weekend.

Appreciation for the witness of the Sisters of Life
40 Days for Life welcomed special visitors from the Sisters of Life to our headquarters in Bryan, Texas last week ...
... where they toured the former Planned Parenthood abortion center that now houses our offices.
The sisters were guided by a former abortion provider, Dr. Haywood Robinson, who now provides pro-life medical care and serves on our board of directors.
Hope ? that abortion will soon end in YOUR community
The next 40 Days for Life campaign will run from September 26 to November 4.
Applications to LEAD local campaigns will open June 1 ... so be watching in the days and weeks ahead for more details ... and encouragement for people just like you to step out in faith to speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves.
