Abortion facilities tend to reduce operating hours during a 40 Days for Life campaign.
When you're out praying--and pushing the abortion appointment no-show rate as high as 75%--it's not uncommon for abortion businesses to remodel, schedule extended staff trainings, or close for other reasons.
Kathy in Nashville recently arrived to pray at an unexpectedly closed Planned Parenthood.
"Two cars pulled [into the abortion facility parking lot], and both tried to enter, but the door was locked," she said.
Planned Parenthood was closed again a few days later. And when it reopened, the employees were NOT happy.
One told Kathy to leave--and claimed the police were on their way to arrest her.
But the days of getting steamrolled by the legal system are over.
Kathy had already been in touch with law enforcement, who were aware of the vigil and even spent time at the site to make sure vigil participants were safe.
"We seem to be having an impact," Kathy added.
Portland, Maine
Friday is traditionally abortion day in Portland...
...but when vigil participants showed up to pray, Planned Parenthood was quiet. There were no escorts--and no activity of any kind.
Vigil participants learned that the facility was closed "due to lack of a provider!"
"I also happened to notice that the hours of operation have been reduced by two and a half hours on both Mondays and Tuesdays since we began the vigil," wrote Joanne. "With more participants, our vigil has had quite an impact. I think seeing the support in numbers has made some people do a double take and has also given our volunteers a bit more confidence."
Lafayette, Indiana
A Planned Parenthood location in the Hoosier State isn't closed--but it sounds like it might as well be!
Agnes said her team has seen very little activity--and few cars--at the abortion facility where she leads the vigil.
"A worker was sent home yesterday before noon," she said. "I saw one customer in the morning. Very little traffic on Wednesday...Today no one is present."
Venustiano Carranza, Mexico
One recent Friday, vigil participants found the local abortion facility was not performing abortions.
The following Tuesday, it was closed AGAIN due to "remodeling." No services were provided again several more days last week!
"We continue united in prayer for the end of abortion," wrote the local leadership team.
El Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain
Vigil participants in Spain have experienced some of the worst political persecution of any campaign on the globe.
But God continues to answer their prayers.
"During the campaign, we observed a reduction, sometimes significant, in services," wrote William, the El Puerto de Santa Maria leader.
And on one recent abortion day, not a single abortion was performed!
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.
--Matthew 28:19-20
God, you have given me more than I could possibly ask. Help me never stray from your presence, for it is you whom I long to share with everyone I encounter. Show your face through my humility, direct my steps, and let every word I speak be from you. You ascended to Heaven not to abandon us but to be with us. You sent the Holy Spirit to guide our actions. As we conclude this 40-day fast, pour forth your grace on us to carry your light to the ends of the world. Amen.
