It's not surprising that women choose life in response to your prayers and public witness at a 40 Days for Life vigil.
After all, no woman wants to have an abortion. But when an abortion worker walks away from the very source of her livelihood because she was touched by your prayer, it shows that nobody is beyond the reach of God's grace.
On this week's episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, I talk with the most famous former abortion worker of them all: Abby Johnson.
Listen in at: 40daysforlife.com/gods-mercy-with-abby-johnson
Abby and I discuss:
- The Bible verse that weighed on Abby's conscience after she assisted with an ultrasound-guided abortion
- Abby's response to people who don't believe she's sorry for her career at Planned Parenthood
- The hilarious story behind this awkward photo:
Abby also discusses her new book, Fierce Mercy: Daring to Live Out God's Compassion in Bold and Practical Ways.
Unplanned brought the world the drama of Abby's exodus from the abortion industry. But leaving Planned Parenthood wasn't the end of the story.
Fierce Mercy shares Abby's realization that she had blood on her hands...and the mercy she found through the Blood of our Lord.

Auckland, New Zealand
As the vigil progresses, your presence wears on abortion workers.
Michelle and her team in Auckland maintain a vigil between campaigns and then significantly expand their hours in front of the abortion facility during each 40 Days for Life campaign.
Michelle noticed the abortion facility manager peering at her curiously through the window when the vigil didn't end at the time it usually did (before the campaign began).
"Her interest was so obvious that I waved to her," Michelle said. "She immediately closed the blinds with gusto!"
Michelle and her team are praying that the manager's conscience will lead her to find the courage to walk away from her job.
Upland, California
Andrea, the Upland 40 Days for Life leader, said the local abortion facility's new management is perturbed by her vigil.
"They are more motivated to call the police," Andrea noted. "[But] the local law enforcement is very supportive of us, partly because we notify them of all our hours and events well in advance."
The support of local churches has the campaign off to a strong start, and clergy members attend the team's special events.
The woman left her water jar and went into the town and said to the people, “Come see a man who told me everything I have done. Could he possibly be the Messiah?” They went out of the town and came to him.
—John 4:28-30
Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for meeting me where I was before I really knew You, and thank You for leading me to Your love and truth. Help me to be Your presence to all those I meet at “the well” at work, the grocery store, the mall, even at my church. May I reserve my judgment and instead be Your instrument of healing and peace, so that I may lead each person to You, who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
