Even the toughest vigil participants hit their knees and shed a tear when a medical waste truck arrives to haul away the tiny bodies of aborted babies.
It's bad enough that these precious babies lose their lives. The medical waste truck is a stark reminder that these precious children won't even receive the dignity of a proper burial at a final resting place.
Instead, they are destined for an incinerator...or to be sold.
It's great to be on the sidewalk when a baby is saved from abortion...
...but it's just as important to be there for the children who are lost.
Your simple, but faithful, prayer and witness might be the only act of love these little girls and boys ever receive in their short time on this earth.
That's worth it every time.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
"Two big blue barrels and two red bins were picked up by the medical waste truck in the side alley," wrote the Milwaukee 40 Days for Life team. "No words can express seeing this."
Days later, a courier arrived to take another bin away.
Fortunately, at least 14 babies will not be leaving the abortion facility in a truck. That's how many moms September and her team have helped save from abortion this campaign.
Ithaca, New York
Volunteers in Ithaca saw a medical waste van leaving the local Planned Parenthood.
"Seeing this type of truck gets us all in the gut," said Mary Anne, the local leader.
Ithaca is a notably abortion-friendly community--a fact made evident by the Planned Parenthood supporters who showed up shouting and carrying vulgar signs.
But Mary Anne and her team are making inroads. One day, they counted only 8 negative responses to their presence--compared with 54 positive ones! Even the local police officers who monitor their site have thanked them.
Atlanta, Georgia
"Please pray for the drivers and the whole company to refuse business with abortion clinics," the Atlanta 40 Days for Life team wrote. "Children are not medical waste!"
While the campaign team prays for conversion, they are actively witnessing conversions on the streets. When an angry woman yelled, "Women should have the right to choose!" a vigil participant stepped forward to discuss the matter.
"Soon the lady's demeanor softened and quieted as our spokesperson talked lovingly and honestly with her," reported Margarita, the local leader.
"I pulled up here in a tizzy, but now I see things totally differently," the no-longer-angry woman said before leaving with a warm smile.
Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.
— Isaiah 1:16-17
O God, our heavenly Father, give us courage and wisdom as we seek to eradicate the evil in our society.
Help us to realize that your divine Spirit alone can change hearts and minds so that all your human creatures may enjoy the fullness of life you intended for them.
