This Lent, 40 Days for Life prayers are being said in English, Serbian, Hindi, German, Swahili, Spanish, Croatian, Portuguese, and many other tongues around the world.
Different countries, different cultures, and different languages. But one shared language of prayer to our one Father in Heaven.
With the United States once again funding and aggressively promoting abortion in developing countries, those prayers are more important than ever.
"Here, abortion is still illegal," said Roxeni in Honduras. "But we face so many groups that 'help' our moms make this terrible decision."
Roxeni signed up for the vigil's opening hour--6am--with her cousin. And it wasn't long before others showed up to pray with her.
She described her time at the vigil as "an amazing experience."
Jos, Nigeria
"The campaign to save unborn babies in Jos from abortion kicked off on a very good note," reported Maureen, the longtime leader.
Maureen's team is conducting community outreach efforts to educate university students to end abortion on campus.
"There are already signs of success because people are beginning to reach out to us within a day," she continued. "Keep us in prayer that God will touch the hearts of those carrying innocent babies in their wombs."
Auckland, New Zealand
The campaign team in New Zealand got good news early when the government relaxed pandemic restrictions, allowing the vigil to take place.
Even better: the normally busy abortion facility opened late and had few customers.
"Let’s pray that the extra time given to women will help them make life-giving choices," said Michele, the local campaign leader.
Novi Sad, Serbia
Novi Sad is hosting its third vigil. Though the pandemic has been an obstacle, Nikoleta said pro-life efforts are expanding.
"We feel very excited, and people react positively," she said.
The King will answer and say to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.”
—Matthew 25:31-46
Gracious and merciful Father, we renew our dedication to defending the unborn and all whose right to life is compromised by our godless society’s selfish lack of concern. Free us from our own failures and sins so that we will be truly pro-life in every area of our lives.
