Campaigns around the world are off and running after launching their vigils with kickoff events.
Thousand Oaks, California
New 40 Days for Life outreach director Ramona Trevino and campaign director Steve Karlen headlined the Thousand Oaks kickoff rally.
Ramona moved attendees to tears as she shared the beautiful story of her conversion from a Planned Parenthood facility manager to one of the 242 abortion workers to leave their jobs during or after a 40 Days for Life campaign.
Public officials are working to make California an "abortion sanctuary state" that would draw abortion tourists from pro-life states. That's bad news--but Steve reminded vigil participants that the difficult situation will provide more opportunities to save lives and change hearts.
Leonore, the local leader, said the rally was a success, inspiring multiple new volunteers to sign up to stand vigil.
Fort Myers, Florida
The Fort Myers 40 Days for Life team hosted a special event to transition from its year-round 40 Days for Life 365 vigil to this fall's 40 Days for Life campaign.
"We did an early kickoff for the first time this year because we had an opportunity to hear from [author] Terry Beatley, who shared [former abortion doctor and activist] Dr. Bernard Nathanson’s message of encouragement with us," shared Paula and Rick, the local leaders.
Paula and Rick also used their kickoff event as a diaper drive to support local pregnancy centers.
