Alan battled discouragement as he prayed in front of Planned Parenthood in Jacksonville, Florida.
For much of his time standing vigil, he was the target of anger and ridicule from passersby. So he asked God for reassurance that his presence on the sidewalk was worth the effort.
That's when a car pulled out of the driveway and rolled down the window. Alan braced himself for another barrage of insults.
Instead, the driver simply said he and the expectant mother he drove to the abortion facility just couldn't go through with it.
"He implied that our presence had been instrumental in the decision," Alan said.
As the couple departed, Alan noticed their car bore license plates from Louisiana, where abortion is largely illegal.

Tunja, Colombia
A 40 Days for Life participant in Tunja learned her own granddaughter was contemplating abortion!
"She felt alone, desperate, jobless, she got appendicitis, and then she found herself pregnant," explained 40 Days for Life director of Latin American campaigns Lourdes Varela.
But campaign participants came to the woman's aid and also directed her to a pro-life doctor. Their support led the woman to choose life.
Ventura, California
The 40 Days for Life team members in Ventura have a mighty tool at their disposal when it comes to saving lives: A mobile pregnancy center parks across the street from Planned Parenthood two days a week!
Anna from the campaign team reported that the one-two punch of a 40 Days for Life vigil and the ultrasound bus has saved two babies from abortion!
"Praise God!" Anna exclaimed. "The mobile medical units are lifesaving!"
Mexico City, Mexico
A 40 Days for Life volunteer approached a couple lingering in front of the abortion facility and handed them information on alternatives to abortion. She also told them about the dangers of abortion.
The couple listened but didn't say anything, so the vigil participant returned to prayer.
Then the expectant mom tearfully hugged the man before the pair turned around and left without having the abortion!
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Father, thank You for your inerrant, inspired, and authoritative Word. Thank You for how clearly Your Word affirms the value of all life—born and unborn. Thank You for Your promise of rest. As we labor to promote a culture of life, give us strength. Help us not to rely on ourselves but on You. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
