"We saw two turnaways during this vigil," said Love, the 40 Days for Life coordinator in Eugene.
"We also had several very negative encounters with a couple of individuals, but with God's grace and the helpful police were able to get through them safely," she said.
For the first time during a 40 Days for Life campaign, a mobile ultrasound unit parked right next door to the abortion center every Saturday, the primary abortion day. The local team is praying for additional counselor-nurses to help staff it.
"We also made a more focused effort to be present Saturdays in front of Planned Parenthood, in the hopes of redirecting someone to the mobile unit," Love said.
One of the pastors who spoke at the closing rally said the local police chief was a member of his congregation. "I had wondered why the police have been so cordial!"
