Your peaceful, prayerful presence at a 40 Days for Life vigil softens hearts and builds trust--even with abortion workers!
In one Southeastern state, Mary and George watched as a couple arrived at the local abortion business arguing, presumably about whether to proceed with the abortion.
Finally, they approached campaign volunteers and asked, "So where is the free ultrasound?"
Mary and George directed them to the nearest pregnancy help center just a few blocks away. "The couple, still fussing, did indeed seek assistance," wrote the 40 Days for Life leader. And they chose life!
What happened next lifted the local campaign team's spirits even more...
An abortion worker came out and asked Mary and George whether they were able to help the couple.
When they answered affirmatively, the abortion worker admitted, "We do refer certain clients to you."
We aren't revealing the location of this encounter because we don't want those referrals to dry up, but the realization that 40 Days for Life participants are trusted even by abortion workers is a huge encouragement!
"A nice change from calling the police on us!" added the local campaign leader.

While Chris stood vigil in Lakeland, a young, intimidating-looking man approached him and looked like he was about to unleash a verbal tirade in response to his pro-life sign.
Chris invoked the Name of Jesus aloud, and the man simply muttered, "Oh, OK," and moved along.
"If this guy's intentions were to insult my efforts--and I suspect they were--the Name of our Lord and Savior sent him away and let me continue my prayers to end the scourge of abortion," Chris explained.
San Diego, California
A nearby Catholic high school pro-life group braved rainy weather to participate in one of the FOUR 40 Days for Life campaigns within San Diego's city limits.
"These young men and women put their faith into action in many ways, including volunteering at local pregnancy resource centers, participating in the annual Walk for Life, and praying at our vigil to help bring an end to abortion," wrote Doug, who leads the campaign.
The youth infusion on the sidewalk also boosted the spirits of more seasoned vigil participants. "It was refreshing for all our volunteers to see the energy and commitment to the Culture of Life in this upcoming generation of leaders!" Doug said.
And Jesus went with them, but when he was only a short distance from the house, the centurion sent friends to tell him, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof. Therefore, I did not consider myself worthy to come to you; but say the word and let my servant be healed."

Dear Lord, I surrender my fear to your loving care. Give mothers and fathers the courage to invite you into their lives in good times and bad, and grant them the faith to place their children in your hands. Lead them to doctors who will give their children the very best chance to live. Amen.
