The 40 Days for Life Institute of Law & Justice (“ILJ”) is seeking Two motivated law students who are dedicated to the protection of life to serve as Corporate Compliance and Litigation Legal Interns for our summer internship program located at 40 Days for Life Headquarters in Bryan/College Station, TX.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Legal Research-Conduct in-depth legal research including case law, statutes, and regulations.
  • Document Review-Assist in the review and organization of legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
  • Document Drafting-Assist in the drafting of legal documents, including memos, letters, and contracts, under the supervision of ILJ attorneys.
  • Case Management-Assist in updating files and contacts and uploading documents into 40 Days for Life’s current case management system.
  • Administrative-Provide administrative support to the legal team such as updating calendars, scheduling appointments, and other organizational duties that may arise.

 

 Requirements and Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an ABA accredited law school and in good academic standing with the University.
  • Interest in and support for the pro-life movement and 40 Days for Life’s Mission (to end abortion locally through prayer and fasting, community outreach, and peaceful and lawful 40-day vigils outside abortion clinics).
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and management software.
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

 Internship Duration and Hours

  • 30 hours weekly
  • Monday - Friday 9:00 am-3:00 pm

 

Unpaid Internship

  • 40 Days for Life is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity, and this internship is being offered unpaid (without compensation), which is permissible under federal and state law.
  • For selected candidates, the ILJ team would be happy to coordinate with each candidate’s law school or professor(s) to ensure the receipt of academic credit or pro bono hours for the internship if that is offered at the candidate’s law school.
  • This internship is primarily for each intern’s benefit in the form of legal training and education. There is no expectation of or entitlement to a paid position at the conclusion of this internship.
  • Travel, board, and lodging are not covered.
  • For chosen applicants who are not local and need to relocate for the internship, 40 Days for Life will provide a $1,000.00 flat fee reimbursement for relocation expenses only.
