Most 40 Days for Life vigils take place in front of surgical abortion facilities...
...but some are held in front of abortion referral centers.
At these vigils, you don't see last-minute saved babies. Hecklers will also yell, "They don't even do abortions here!"
But praying in front of an abortion referral facility can be just as important as at a center that does surgical abortions.
- Abortion referral centers still SELL abortions. They are feeder locations for surgical centers.
- Your witness at a referral site gives women hope and more time to question their abortion decision because it's not occurring at that location that same day.
Your presence tells the community that Planned Parenthood is not welcome.
40 Days for Life Campaign Director Steve Karlen recently visited vigils at abortion referral facilities in Texas. Here's his report from the road:
Lewisville, Texas
The Lewisville Planned Parenthood has been closed for repairs since summer.
Planned Parenthood initially said the facility would re-open in August. In August, the re-opening was delayed until September. In September, a Planned Parenthood employee said she didn't know when Planned Parenthood would re-open.
Kristi and her team are praying that the facility NEVER re-opens.
They've covered EVERY hour of their peaceful vigil with on-site prayer warriors. Each passing week boosts their hope that Planned Parenthood is gone for good!
Plano, Texas
A few days after Chris held his kickoff rally, he got a phone call from an employee of the venue where he hosted the event.
Her friend was about to have an abortion, and she wanted to know whether Chris could help.
To make sure she knew ALL her options, Chris set the mom up with a visit to a local pregnancy center as well as a sit-down meeting with an adoption advocate.
She chose life!
Chris continues to drive her to her prenatal checkups.
Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this, in His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.
— Job 12:9-10
Thank you, Father God, for being the Creator of my life and every life. Please give me, and the society in which I live, an appreciation for your gift of life. Please help us set aside our pride and acknowledge that we need you. Show me how I can honor you today in response to all the blessings you bestow freely.
