Is abortion ever necessary to save the life of the mother?
Abortion supporters think so…and strangely, so do some pro-lifers. You even see pro-life legislation that carves out an exception allowing for abortions that are intended to save the life of a mother.
Don't be fooled. Abortion is never necessary to save a mother's life.
The so-called "life of the mother" exception is meant to distract you from the reality that abortion is only successful when it ends a life.
On this week's episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, we discuss why the "life of the mother" exception is a wolf in sheep’s clothing:

In Tunja, Colombia, doctors nearly frightened a woman into an abortion because of a chronic health condition.
Thankfully, the mother had second thoughts and reached out to the local 40 Days for Life team. Prayers for the mother paid off as a subsequent medical examination revealed that both mom and baby are in good health. She is keeping her baby!
Worcester, Massachusetts
40 Days for Life Campaign Director Steve Karlen recently spoke at a campaign rally in Worcester. Attendees brought some serious energy!
Lee, the Worcester leader, said that one of her volunteers had been praying at the vigil for years...
...but when her husband agreed to join her at the rally, he came away so fired up that he's now accompanying her to pray at Planned Parenthood.
A brand-new volunteer signed up for two weekly prayer shifts at the rally--and then saved a mom and baby from abortion!
"We assured the young mom that if she needed any help with this baby or other children already born, the pregnancy center would be happy to provide her with baby goods, resources, and referrals," Lee reported.
Buffalo, New York
Buffalo's abortion facility is one of the country's strangest as it doubles as a birthing center.
"The birthing center is in the front," Dolly explained. "The abortions are in the back."
The local 40 Days for Life team joined forces with the Diocese of Buffalo and the Knights of Columbus for a one-mile march to the abortion facility.
"It was wonderful!" said Dolly from Buffalo's leadership team.
So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months. But when she could no longer hide him, she took an arc of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank.

Heavenly Father, you are the God of all comfort and the light yoke. Help us to share the good news of the Gospel and the gospel of life. Give us compassion for the weary, those without hope, living in fear.
Help us deliver Your Word in the right way, the right spirit, with compassion so women will put their trust in you and have their children adopted. To God be the glory! Amen.
